I’m not so hungry for lunch … but after seeing panel #2, I’ve got a craving for some dessert.

    Strawberry cheesecake to be precise.

    Bon appétit!

Dog, BZ to you, as well for your Navy time. Wish The detailer has sent me to the Robison, since that’s my last name. On the Moosbrugger DD-980, there was me, a LCDR Robertson, and a Chief Robinson. Can’t tell you how many times all 3 of us showed on the bridge rolling a garbled 1MC announcement!

That should have been “following”, not “rolling”.

Awww … CDR 215, you should have put the Robison as your first choice on your dream sheet. In port the quarterdeck would have always gonged your name over the 1MC whenever the Skipper arrived or departed!

I feel bittersweet about the ship. I suppose all Navy ships are selfish, demanding and unforgiving mistresses … they take, take and take from you and always demand more. I gave the Robi my share of blood, sweat and tears.

Despite this, I miss the ship as I spent over 4 1/2 years assigned to her. I reported to the ship at age 19 and left at age 24, giving her some of the prime years of my life.

Some while back (around 2000) I researched what happened to my ship. The superstructure was cut off from the main deck and the hull was to be used as a power barge for some needy country in South America. The plans for this didn’t work out right for DDG-12 and her sister ship the Hoel DDG-13 due to some major problems with the retrofitting and asbestos issues.

The Robison, or what was left of her, was towed outside of Charleston SC and sunk as a fish hotel. She now rests in Davy Jones’ Locker …

BTW … what became of the Barney DDG-6? I remember the name although I don’t remember the ship ever being in San Diego. Maybe the Robi and Barney were part of the same battle group at one time or patrolled the Persian Gulf together in the 80s?

        CDR 215

Dogbyter, Barney was “dismantled” in 2006, According to Wikipedia. I don’t know the difference between dismantling and scrapping because she was returned to the Navy following a contract award for scrapping which apparently never happened. And had I known that the USS Robison existed I would’ve asked but I requested the smallest combatant I could get not wanting to be on an aircraft carrier and so I ended up on the USS pledge MSO- 492 out of Long Beach. Learned an awful lot and when I depart at her I was triple hatted as XO supply officer and chief engineer.

For politicians, ceo’s, most managerial types and their ilk, it’s not about amassing more money and things they’ll never be able to spend or use, or even providing for their families after they shuffle off this mortal coil (or go for a nice bumpy ride in a tumbrel) it’s about taking from others simply because they can and they think they’re ‘owed’ this somehow. it’s the way they see you as submitting to their will because they’re ‘better than you are’

Like the cat said…’It’s not the having, it’s the getting’

It seems that the more this educated elite does, the more f/d up our country becomes. You cannot tell me these folks are the best and brightest because I will not, and cannot believe such a thing. They want, they get. They get, they want more. This submission thing is just that, submit and admit you are wrong and we are right and we’ll all be just peachy. If you disagree, you must be stupid, a racist, a Neanderthal, but you have to have a deficiency to not see our brilliance, in action. Thousands of migrants, high gas prices, inflation, rhetoric against a foreign power, which closes diplomatic doors, defense stocks booming, rumors of war, kill whitey, all supported by “educated” elites. Fk me running this is a strange turn of events.

How long will it take them to get the first product out the door once the FDA signs off on it? One month? Two? Recalling laid off staff, hiring new to replace those that decide its too unpredictable to return, ordering and receiving perishables, etc., etc., etc.

Meanwhile up here, a chinese gov’t owned company built one of the largest formula plants and ships it all off to china, using Canadian milk outside of the strict milk board regulations and quotas that everyone else has to follow that puts imported cheese at $25+ per pound and local milk at $2+ per quart in order to keep a few industrial milk producers in quebec donating to the liebral party…
Everything in this country leads back to china since sockboy took over…everything !

AN APRIL 28, 2016 meeting in Gustine, California changed the landscape of the Canadian dairy industry.

The meeting was between several top people representing the Chinese-owned Feihe dairy processor, and Wang Pei from the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) to explore the possibility of Feihe building a processing plant in Canada.

According to about 1,000 documents received under Access to Information, Pei is referred to as the ‘International Advisor to CEO’. Many documents were not made available or were redacted to some degree.

Minutes of that April meeting show that when the CDC was asked about potential limitations on production, it provided assurances that “there were no problems for cow milk infant formula.”

Feihe said if it had a Canadian plant “we can also import milk from U.S. processors and export but the made products cannot be sold in Canada.” The minutes state “butter and SMP produced by Feihe can be sold to the CDC, committed.” Later documentation shows Feihe estimated that five per cent of its production would be butter, all being sold to the CDC.

In May 2016, Health Canada provided information to Feihe that “clinical trials are required to support the safety and efficacy of new infant formula. The clinical trials, at the current time, can only be carried out abroad.”

“China, or any other country, can be the location,” documents state.

On June 28, 2016 in the Frontenac Room at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa, a letter of intent was signed between Jacques Laforge, CEO of the CDC and Leng Youbin, Chairman of Feihe. The signing was termed “a business agreement on our investment in infant formula manufacturing in Canada.”

Top officials from Agriculture Canada, Health Canada and CFIA were issued invitations to the signing. There was a strong warning issued that there should be “no media report on signing.”

There was preparation put into controlling the media narrative and documents stated that if any reporter brought up the question that might there be a problem securing milk supply, ‘PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION’. Questions like this were to be referred to “the communications team at the CDC.”
