It’s all a massive Ponzi scheme, run by people with no actual skills whatsoever.

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/04/new-york-times-portrays-fired-usaid-staff-as/

    From NYT;

Sheryl Cowan, 57, was making $272,000 a year as a senior vice president at a U.S.A.I.D.-funded nonprofit when she was let go at the end of March 2025. Last month she had an online interview for a $19-an-hour job managing a Penzeys Spices store near her home in Falls Church, Va.

The reaction wasn’t quite what they expected.

NYT frames this as if USAID employees had a quasi-property right to high-paying, taxpayer-funded jobs.

In reality, this tells a darker story—we spent half-a-century debt-financing a managerial class of Leftists whose only qualifications were ideological.

    — Senator Eric Schmitt

    Others were even less charitable.

“$272k for a job at a non profit, paid for by the US taxpayer and she cannot find adequate employment elsewhere? What does that say about her?”

“It screams, ‘this woman was WAYYY overpaid for the skill set she had!’ Which is yet another perfect example for why USAID was shut down. I’m sorry, why are we supposed to feel bad for her? Average salary in the US is $63,000….

“I mean pick a lane, one minute the NYT is screaming about fighting privilege and then the next minute they are posting this, which is the very definition of privilege. This article is asinine.” Lifeabundantly

    And

“So, she was wildly overpaid by my tax dollars, now she is competing in the real world with a limited skillset, and any of us care why?” ITGuy

And the obvious flaw the NYT didn’t want to talk about

“Pro Tip: If your NGO has to close its doors when the government stops funneling taxpayer dollars to you, then you were NOT a ‘Non-governmental organization.’” VoxDawg

And none of them are. They are simply colossal political slush funds created to benefit the Democratic party and its perpetual grift and power lust.

And the Republicans, or at least the progressives who call themselves Republicans, either don’t care or are in on the grift themselves.

    As George Carlin said,

It’s a big club- but you ain’t in it.

Funny when USAID’s wings got clipped several 2nd tier journo rags suddenly couldn’t make payroll. Heartily, did I laugh.

The truly maddening oart is tha tso many people think that if these con artists are paid that much then they need to be too, no matter how ill equipped or prepared they are for anything above flipping burgers or tossing salads. Then they demand a ‘living wage’ for what are intended to be part time jobs for kids after school to learn to work at and then expect to be paid enough to buy a five bedroom house with a pool and a brand new luxury model SUV. The gov’t of course supports this, because their end gal isn’t to govern but to rule over the ashes of a once prosperous nation…where robots flip the burgers because the people priced themselves out of a job. Case in point, the postal union tried once again to hold the country hostage for outrageous wages to do nothing…now door-to-door delivery is going to be ended and 30,000 letter carrier jobs evaporating. Meanwhile the goose that laid those golden eggs keeps geting fatter on the taxpayer’s dime.

Sundance over at the Conservative Tree House did a write-up on that article too. Interesting to see what Trump’s influence over tossing all that NGO deadwood has had on the DC unenjoyment rate:

Needless to say, there’s not much sympathy towards those newly unemployed grafters coming from the TreeHouse comments section.

This reminds me of the saying “There is
nothing so permanent as a Temporary
Govt. panel or commission” even though
USAID was meant as permanent, it is
exemplary of the many other Govt.
programs created to provide jobs for
the cronies in the Demoncrat and
    Repub. parties.

Ex: how much beer does an American
    citizen drink in a year?
The head of the commission has to have
a deputy, who must have underlings
who also have their own minions to
    help with this important finding.

Not to forget to mention that we need
to know all about the ‘Sex life of an
oyster’ and on and on. the Trump
    administration has eliminated many
    of these taxpayer funded farces,
but, TDS will not allow the blind
    to see.

Because when you have no intrinsic value, “remaining relevant” becomes an existential panic.

Hope I haven’t posted this here before, but…

When any do-gooder organization actually achieves its stated goal, it quickly finds a new and less achievable goal to perpetuate itself.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving achieved all their goals, then started to agitate against other issues such as speeding and underage purchase.
Why is March of Dimes still around? Youthful polio still a huge problem?
Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) demanded smoke-free aircraft, restaurants, and other public spaces. They got all of that. They’re still around, now agitating for “a world where cigarettes are no longer sold for profit.” a goal that their early supporters never bought into.

I once read an article (can’t find it now, more’s the pity) where the author surveyed lots of examples of do-gooder orgs, and reported that he could only find two examples of orgs who honestly dissolved once they reached their stated goals. I don’t remember one of them, but the other was the Committee to End Pay Toilets in America (CEPTIA).

[I am told by a colleague that Britain’s Anti-Corn-Law League (the predecessor to their Liberal Party) also disbanded after 14 years having reached their goal.]
