All of our best for your father and family.

And it doesn’t matter how many times they hear this – they still hope the people will ‘come to their senses’ come November…

We already have – and the Donald rode that horse better than everybody else…

  • serr8d

..and #RulingClass Beltway Establishment elitists had both Black Swans, Bernie and The Donald, coming. Their time is up.

  • Delilah T.

Please give your father my best wishes, Chris.

  • Polly Cy

I’d like to add my best wishes for your father’s successful surgery and speedy recovery.

As for the artwork? A good Dr. Strangelove reference is always worth enough bonus points to compensate.

  • capn

Artwork is a weak third when it comes to family issues.

You’re doing fine (artwork wise) and we will wait for you hereabouts.

All the Best for your Father’s surgery.

  • JTC

Shit, put this thing on hiatus for a bit, Chris. The crazy (and we) will be here when things improve.

Damn it, I wish you and Dad could have made it to the race. Maybe next year.

    Talking to God for y’all.

  • Pete in Va.

Artwork hasn’t been basic since since Sam and Zed bonded over Gantt charts. God’s speed to your dad.

  • eon

Everyone else has already said everything I wanted to say, and much more eloquently.

  • Iconoclast

Hoping all goes better than the best prognosis, then followed by a swift & pleasant recovery!

Today’s artwork was as good as it was in the beginning & ya hooked me back then. It’s the intellect behind the art which makes this such a great daily stop, Chris. Take care of your Da; we can wait.

  • LKSkinner

May your father have a “refuah sh’laima”, a complete and total recovery.
Warm wishes and good thoughts from Jerusalem to your father, you and your family.

    Oh, and:

“How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Don.”

‘Sbeautiful man; excellent advice too. And I do want to do the latter, but I’m afraid the former is beyond my possibles…kids and grands.

  • Dear Chris,
Best wishes and my prayers for your father’s recovery. I’ve been there and I know what it feels like.

And while you’re at it, don’t forget to take care of my favorite cartoonist. OK?

    Rob Miller

    • PlasticMan

Echo this, Chris. In stressful times we tend to forget to take care of ourselves. Prayers to your family the peace that passes all understanding.

  • JSStryker

Best wishes to your father Chris

  • B Woodman

Prayers to your father, your family, and you.

Cartoon: I just hope that Trump parachuted off the nuke before it hit. I want Trump alive!

    • GWB

Dude, it’s a nuke. How far do you think the chute would carry him?

      • Swansonic

So what if is a nuke – his hair will protect him….

    • PaulS

Has Hitlary accused DT of being a serial philanderer and rapist yet?
Now that would be irony, or hypocrisy, tough call.

    • First and foremost, The Don is the anti-HRC. I rest my case.

  • Subotai Bahadur

Family comes before work. Do what must be done, and come back when you can. We will wait.

  • southpaw

Godspeed to your family, Chris. We’ll keep the home fires burning. And thanks for providing your readers and me for years of enlightenment.

  • Your “basic artwork” is better than some folks’ best efforts, cuz. Don’t sweat it; I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler (I mean that literally, unfortunately), but I like to joke that I paint with words. All said, I can’t begin to do what you do…or even come close. I can translate it to prose, but hey. “A picture is worth a thousand…” and all that.

Prayers going up for you and yours, hon. Take it easy, and you know how to reach me if you need an ear, or a shoulder.

  • Bill G

    Blessed be.
    Family is first.
Love this, no matter how ‘basic’ you consider it.
    And spot on, as usual.

  • GWB

    Prayers for your family, Chris.

As to the strip, I think you have PERFECTLY encapsulated The Donald as White House contender!

With you and your family in Spirit and in Prayer. God Bless all of you and know He is with you also especially your father.

  • m225

Well wishes to your Dad, family and you Chris.

  • clayusmcret

Chris, you father is in our prayers.

  • eclark1849

Sadly, I never knew my father as he died when I was two. I’ve had plenty of father “figures” and a bunch of brothers. But they weren’t my father and you can’t believe how much that has affected my life. So yeah, concentrate on your Dad, dude.

  • Rob Jones

Best to you and your family. Hope surgery goes well and healing is quick. Thanks for what you give us here each day.

    Rob J

  • Prayers up for you dad, Chris.

Got out of the hospital myself close on 2 weeks ago after a stroke. Got to see 3 different roommates, all of whom underwent surgery. It’s not easy, even for the “little” stuff.

Hoping for the best possible results.

I didn’t know Trump has a medical degree and that he’s a proctologist.
He has the cure for what ails some folks, so turn your head and cough.

Put a call into an old friend. Asked her to put “Chris’s Dad” on the prayer board.

  • cb

First things first, Chris. Thanks for all you do.

  • RooftopVoter

Chris, we don’t care if you draw stick figures man, be with your family, prayers from ours to yours man!

Besides, it’s about the content of the character, not the color of the strip.

    And today’s content speaks volumes…….

  • Steve S

    No problem! Family first!

May your father have an uncomplicated, thorough recovery. CW

  • Wishing your dad a speedy recovery, Chris. Prayers of strength and healing!

  • RegT

I meant to add: the movie reference reminded me – if memory serves instead of misleading – that the character riding the bomb down was played by Slim Pickens. Which is an incredibly apt pun on this election’s playing field. If it weren’t for Trump, it would be “No pickin’s”.

And for you folks tempted to vote for Greg Anderson, Johnson, whatever his name is, remember you would be voting for ANOTHER POLITICIAN. There is a “Slim” chance Trump will be as good as his word. With a politician, you know it will be business (anal violation) as usual.

A “conservative” politician _might_ intend to do what is right, but as we’ve seen with most of the Tea Party, they get co-opted or run over soon after taking office. You might as well vote for Ryan, as that is most likely what you would end up with.

I’ll take a chance on a pragmatic non-conservative businessman over a lying RINO any day of the week.

  • SteveInCO

Wishing your dad a safe surgery and quick full recovery.

I am guessing you rapidly queued up a number of strips before heading off to deal with this. If it ends up taking longer than expected and you run out, just make an announcement. Meanwhile, the message is a huge part of the value here, and a slight dimunition of the artwork won’t wreck that.

  • RosalindJ

Prayers for your dad, and your family’s nerves.

  • David Gonzalez

Your dad is in my prayers, Chris. As for today’s strip, I did notice that, compared to your regular fare, it seemed to be (ahem) slim pickings.

  • JTC

Mr. Muir, if I might offer a suggestion in this time of prioritizing to limit artistic time spent while in no way diminishing impact, a method that I have told you is near and dear to me…

But depending on the demands on your time for more important things, some automatic reruns of say, about this time of year 2008 would be even less time consuming while still topical and impactful.

And if even that is too distracting, as I said before brother, HIATUS! And not a soul here would blame you or abandon you…quite the contrary I’m sure. Do what you gotta do.

    • Swansonic

After all, when in doubt I follow the alphabet…

      DAD comes before DBD…

  • B Woodman

“My dream . . . . . never really showed who released “The Don”. ”
    “Washington DC did, hon.”

    There. Fixed it for ya.

  • NotYetInACamp

    Is this still on?

    OK. What I said tomorrow.

Prayers for your father, you, and yours.

And FINALLY, we have a replacement for Slim Pickings.

  • Jim Clarke

Good luck to your Father, Chris. Family is important to us all.

  • Michelle Evans
