Follow the money.
The corruption is where the loot is, so the bigger the Government the greater the wages of sin and, sadly, the greater the application of IQ to it.
This is why the Framers went to such lengths to break up the functions of government into mutually antagonistic chunks. They knew that individuals are just out to serve themselves at the expense of everybody else. They specifically regarded the true function of government to be the establishment and preservation of “life, liberty, and property” against the perpetual onslaught of the looters.
Our present troubles are a direct result of a long slide from virtue into self-indulgence.
I think it was John Adams who said words to the effect that the Republic would last only as long as we remained a virtuous people.
We are now testing that virtue.
The wholesale destruction of our republic began over a century ago under the proto-fascist Wilson Administration. Woodrow Wilson actually resented and undermined the Constitution, he and believed in a class of intellectual elitists to administer the affairs of government; no doubt recruited from the Ivy Leagues like his precious Princeton.
The tyranny Amendments to the Constitution were also passed during Wilson’s tenure … the Sixteenth (income tax and creation of the IRS,) the Seventeenth (US Senators elected by popular vote,) and the Eighteenth (the socially engineered Prohibition.)
Only the Eighteenth was later repealed; forgotten were the rotten Sixteenth and Seventeenth Amendments. America has been sliding into dystopia and towards bankruptcy ever since …
My take is it all started with the Act of 1871, when the Congress installed a corporate shell around the Constitution, thereby granting themselves authority that never existed before. Does the Constitution permit the federal government to own land outside of a few military bases? No. The corporation can and does own vast swathes of the West. All those agencies and departments do not have the Constitutional authority to do what they do, but corporations do.
Start the movement to rescind the Act of 1871 if you want to knock them back to proper scope.
