“Giving it away” and “How’s Ian?”…

I don’t like that segue much at all.

But he didn’t show…I like him a little more for that.

In the land of Shiner Bock, a real beer? YGBSM!

I don’t care if they paid me, delivered and stacked it at the location of my choosing. I wouldn’t take that diluted horse urine for target practice. Even if they guaranteed to come pick up and recycle the perforated empties.

    Ian a no show?

Javier, now’s your chance. Just remember, you actually have to show up.

Is Lone Star Beer still in existence and sold in Texas?!?

Maybe Gunpowder should have its very own brewery …

@larryarnold Back in the day, Lone Star TV commercials featured giant armadillos attacking LS delivery trucks, leaving the countryside littered with empties and torn up trucks. Yep, the National Beer of Texas.

“Maybe Gunpowder should have its very own brewery”
      Or:
HB3539 in the current Texas Legislature – “Relating to the establishment and administration of a state ammunition manufacturing facility; granting rulemaking authority.”

Texas Department of Public Safety would be required to set up an ammo manufacturing facility and sell ammo to law enforcement, and to dealers to sell to the rest of us.

The bill has passed the Texas House and is in the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee. However, the 88th Legislature will adjourn, and all unpassed bills will die, May 29.

    1)take free bud light
    2)distill it to whiskey
3)label it something funny like “liberal tears” or “clydesdale piss”
    4)profit!

your raw material costs are zero. hell budwieser will probably truck it to you for free to avoid having to dispose of it like toxic waste.

        Lucius,

And the taste of hops in your whiskey.

Sun Tory can make a passable whiskey with rice and no hops, but hops are likely to impart tasting notes to the whiskey of a three week old leftover salad seasoned with pond scum.

Louisiana has a distillery, J.T. Meleck. They started off making rice vodka. They’ve expanded to include rum and whiskey.
My ex-SIL and his current bride visited the distillery for a barrel tasting event and came back with an empty, used barrel. ‘Empty’ is a misnomer.
They’d loaded it in his truck for him and when he went to unload it at home the next day, he heard a sloshing.
They got almost a gallon of ‘barrel age’ rice whiskey and went through a couple of dozen coffee filters to get the floaties out.
It’s tasty, smooth and burns. Took me half and hour to finish the shot glass he gave me and it had a definite effect. We’re guessing about a 120 proof if not more.

Warhorse, this led me to look up the idea; thanks. It is going on with other beers, and what this article said makes me think that this Bud Light would probably still be of little value when distilled.

little value with no raw materials cost is still profit…someone would drink it. even if it was just a middle finger to the original manufacturer.

it could also be a collectors item “remember bud light? this is what they did to it when it died…” pass around the bottle. put it back on the shelf.

Money for nothing and beer? is for free.
In Milwaukee, they used to flush the old malt down the drain. Many years ago. Then some bright o9ld boy decided to sell it.
They sold it up and thus Malt Liquor.

Ok, it suddenly hits me. Is Jan still running for anything? Or if not currently, she’ll be running for re-election or higher up in the chain at some point I’m guessing.

See, the DD starts up a brewery and brings out its own (and successful) parody of the Dyl-Doh! Butt-Light fiasco that combines, merch, collectable, campaign advertising, and political slogan all in one place: the “Jan Can!”

Heck, we talkin’ T-runnin’-mate level o’ cool here, folk…

Jan’s Isreali, can’t run for anything higher than Congress Federally, or Gov. at the state level, depending on the State’s constitution. Would you REALLY want a trained sniper in Congress? Talk about a target-rich environment….

Old beer’s good for slug traps in the garden. Send the empties to recycle. Where they can be used for a higher purpose.

Many years ago I started saying “there’s no such thing as a bad beer, some are just better than others…except for budweiser” (and by extension most you-all ‘beer’) This wasn’t the reason I had in mind but it works and I feel a little justified 🙂 Wonder if we can get a similar reaction for Labatt’s Lite ? we used to call it training beer because training ammo is blue 😉 I prefer my beer more malty than hoppy, I was barracked beside a field of hops once, it’s been almost fifty years and I can still smell them
