Oh, I don’t know about that.
It seems to have served as good target practice.
Habituallinecrosser suspects that we saved a ton of money engaging the narco boat with one of the Navy’s shiny new lasers.

I’m more worried about what all those drugs are doing to the ocean environment. If so little fentanyl can kill so many people, what the hell is it doing to sea life?!
OH PITY THE POOR USPHS OFFICERS. Perhaps arming them isn’t a good idea. Or maybe it would be in certain locations and job descriptions.

The scourge of piracy, the Golden Age, ended by 1795 because the pirates were either killed at sea or brought ashore before the purview of an admiralty court, tried and hanged in 24 hours at the low watermark of the shore. Due process? Maybe. Maybe not. A TOI means kintetic response now, not board, search and seize. Fk’em. They pollute our streets with a product that kills North Americans, they forfeit due process. It is a slippery slope. Bring sleds.
Back to where were were with the rum runners during Prohibition. The killer app there was cryptanalysis. The rum runner codes were used to communicate by radio; and one of America’s best cryptanalysts broke them.
Yep, ain’t that the truth. We’ve been shot at a few times, and did NOT return fire, which happened maybe 15 years ago. The boys on that boat were not from Texas. Not my boat. But shooting TOI who fail to heed the lawful orders of duly appointed law enforcement officers, well, doom on them.

When I was in the Coast Guard, it was very disheartening to see the drug traffickers out on bond and headed back south for another load before we could even get our paperwork submitted up the chain of command.
There’s no plea bargain, pretrial diversion, commutation, pardon or parole from the graveyard- – – – -particularly when said graveyard is at the bottom of the ocean!
As is all too common up here, people voted for legal dope and a nice haircut because the national broadcasters told them to. Remember, judges up here are appointed by the party in power with no need for hearings, vettings, experience or votes. The same with Senators, no elections required just an understanding that they will always vote for the PM that appointed them. MP’s are no better, the PM signs their nomination papers and if the ydisplease him, he signs someone else’s instead. sockboys step-daddy said it best, and I paraphrase, ‘Members of Parliament are nothing but trained seals and a hundred yards from Parliament, they’re nobody.’
Commie police chief from York MacSween, “Run and hide, give them what they want, wait for officers to arrive.”
Because that makes it so much safer for the cops and easier to write up the reports after you are dead and the BG is long gone…
Makes sense to them I guess, but y’all need to borrow our sheriff from the next county north of me; Grady Judd says “I advise my people to be armed and if some thug is busting in your door, bust some 12 gauge back through the and blow that POS to smithereens,,,” and “If you kick my door in, in the middle of the night, I will kill you graveyard dead”.

Wasn’t it bye-then who said “get a shotgun” ?
Up here a previously convicted criminal with alifetime ban on possessing firearms shot and killed a man and the ‘judge’ said that was his cultural background and dismissed the charges…meanwhile someone whose name you can prounce was found to have legally owned ammunition in a cabinet that the lock was on but not fully closed and earned a charge for EACH cartridge in the safe…so when you see someone convicted of ‘hundreds of weapons offences’ it was probably Joe Blow with a half closed lock on a box of .22’s and most certainly not jihadi joe shooting up the countryside for aloha or sammy singh shooting an innocent homeowner during a botch home invasion because that’s their ‘culture’ and we have to respect it or go to jail. My sadvice (that’s sad advice) to anyone up here who has to defend their property or the lives of their family and themselves is to make sure you have a hamas flag and a turban handy and say you were celebrating the cultural diversity that was so graciously forced on us.
I remember that; Bite-me was railing against AR’s and said, get a shoggun…Grady would say have a shotgun, an AR, an a magnum handgun or three at the ready…
Don’t know how y’all can live like that, but maybe the Great White North and the horror story that is now Cali were the final wake up calls to us here that that could be our future, WAKE UP! Oh, and have a Donald on your side.
I wouldn’t necessarily keep a ‘magnum’ for intruders, I don’t mind my neighbours that much. A .45 or .44Spec or even .44-40 might be a little less likely to zip through their walls. there aren’t any places in the average house that you can get more than a 10 yard shot anyway and even #4 shot is going to make a mess at that range, much closer and it may as well be a slug, but the neighbour’s house across the street should be fairly safe, unlike SSG or an actual slug.
Yes sir, not much about penetration and unintended targets that I’m not aware of, studied, even taught; much is made of choice of home defense firearm for that reason, thank God that in America we (so far) have that unlimited choice.
That said, as proven with ballistic gel, one of the best stoppers of any slug or bullet is a human body; while a through shot sends it wherever it wants to go, not a lot of oomph left when it gets there, and the BG is dead or close.
Have a plan, but when the elephant breeches your door, use what you got.

We don’t have a 2nd Amendment up here, we have a Constitution that the gov’t can invoke a ‘notwithstanding clause’ on and ignore completely if they want to, but to appease the left down there, I’d keep a short barrelled musketoon or two at the ready…with a long triangular bayonet already fixed 😉 A .69 or .75 lead ball makes a satisfying thump when it hits.

And the USCG was as likely to sink a “Black” (as the boats were coded) as stop and board it.
The rum runners were armed and predisposed to shoot it out. As much with competing rum runners or would-be hijackers on shore as anybody else.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Sorry OT, but having read some about the homeowner Canuckistan who injured an intruder only to be charged himself???
And when the outrage came, that commie gov recommended to homeowners when their home is invaded, to just comply and don’t resist…
