Tain’t funny McGhee – if they’re already like this while we’re armed, imagine how bad it would be if we surrendered them!

I’m glad to see that the citizens of New Jersey are telling their legislature to go to Hell with their 10 round magazine bull…

Actually, even if the liberals could magically make all your guns disappear, I doubt it would make that much difference. Just off the top of my head, I can think of four acquaintances with home machine shops. There’s any number of ways to make explosives and poison gasses from hardware store chemicals. You can do lots of fun things with electricity if you put your mind to it. The average citizen of the US or Canada at the very least simply has access to too much energy and information to be anything less than lethally dangerous when aroused, with or without firearms.

In a comment on the elitists plan for our decline to be like TPWGBUTB eon said “Step one is to disarm the public.”

To which I responded, “There is no step two.”

There is no more perfect illustration of that than today’s ‘toon.

What eon meant was as a prelude to also disarming law enforcement, with the exception of the special detail protecting the special elites.

But that doesn’t matter and neither does anything else, if we lose the right and the tools to resist oppression.

Remember the phrase “certain inailenable rights”? I wont ever loose the right to bear arms as long as i am willing to fulfil the commensurate responsibilities that accompany that right. Ie The famous quote from the Duke regarding “cold, dead fingers.” Every one of our rights keys on a responsibility.

Don’t see that famous line sourcing from Big John, but it was famously used by Heston in his NRA speech, I’m sure it must have originated before that but I don’t know where…

Agreed on the fight for the rights as that is the only way they are inalienable since the Constitution itself is under fire and subject to edit if we do not fulfill that responsibility to protect it as you say.

I did some research and it turns out The original version did not originate with the NRA, but with another gun rights group, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, based in Bellevue, Washington.

A year after the Columbine High School massacre, the phrase gained newfound popularity following the 129th NRA convention, in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 20, 2000, when the actor, and president at the time of the NRA, Charlton Heston ended a speech by concluding:

For the next six months, [Al Gore] is going to smear you as the enemy. He will slander you as gun-toting, knuckle-dragging, bloodthirsty maniacs who stand in the way of a safer America. Will you remain silent? I will not remain silent. If we are going to stop this, then it is vital to every law-abiding gun owner in America to register to vote and show up at the polls on Election Day.

Heston then paused to pick up a replica of a flintlock long rifle and continued:

So, as we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, Mr. Gore: “From my cold, dead hands!”

I’ve always had in mind a cartoon wherein a man is at a political rally to meet his friend. His friend is excited (as is the crowd around him with open mouths) by the speaker at the podium. The new arrival says “this is the guy you’re voting for?” The friend says “yes, he’s energetic, he speaks to the masses, he knows what I feel.” The new arrival says “but look who he is”. We see at the podium Hitler speaking at the DNC….and the crowd goes wild into the streets.
“so what’s your point? You some kind of conservative, deplorable?”

Perhaps William Shirer’s “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” should be required reading for high school students. I encountered it in my parent’s library about the time I was in the 8th grade. It is a giant tome. I read the whole thing. Never once since then have I doubted that conservatism with a dose of libertarianism is about the best combination of small, but not non-existent, government with a belief in principles beyond oneself is best.

Dr. Pournelle’s two axis political mapping clarifies politics far more than any one axis attempt. Minimized government is on one axis. The other is belief in something beyond the pure rational, God if you will. A healthy dose of that belief is good.

What we have is not good. That map may help lead to measures that will restore stability with responsibility and freedom. Trying to solve the problems with a one axis map won’t work. And so far no good case has been made for a third axis. Alas, before a whole lot of sanity can be restored I fear this one flesh I inhabit will fail me. This is a job for younger people. But, do read Shirer’s fine book. It will raise the hairs on your neck when you see how extreme the parallels suggested in the toon above really are.

Dr. Pournelle’s second axis is “belief that socket problems have rational solutions.’ As opposed to emotional solutions, I believe. The difference between a democratic republic and a warm (cold?) Body democracy. I wish the dear man were still with us to ask.

“Societal problems have rational solutions.” As Thomas Sowell points out, they don’t have solutions, they only have trade offs. Something that helps in one area almost inevitably hurts in some other area. Our elites are generally immune from the hurt either because they designed it that way, or they can buy their way out of the hurt. The little people are the ones getting hurt. With gun bans, the elites will be able to build walls, put in security systems and hire body guards, but the vast vast majority won’t. And once the wolves know that all the sheep have been disarmed, and that there are no covert sheep dogs, they’ll have open season on us.

Two points: Richard Evans has a three-volume work on the Third Reich that is better than THE RISE AND FALL. And two, David Nolan, one of the founders of the Libertarian Party, invented the 2-dimensional political alignment system.

His friend and ally, the other favorite of the New York Times and the fashionable set, also kept the guns from the people. Uncle Joe loved his people. He loved to kill them.
    Venezuela took the guns.
South Africa is taking the guns. (And saying that they will slit the white man’s throat

Most all of Africa has taken the guns.
Much of Europe has taken the guns. (Europe then brought in low IQ people from incompatible cultures to kill the Europeans – an ongoing process now. Wait for it.)
Most of Latin America has taken the guns from the good people.
The leftists jurisdictions in the USA have taken as many guns as they could get away with.
Australia lost their semi-automatic weapons and more.
Guns are called to be confiscated from the people in the UN Small Arms Agreement.

Some places recognize the human right of self defense.

I saw a square end shovel metal worked into the receiver for the parts set of an AK47 style semi automatic weapon on you tube.

Maybe more will listen to Solzhenitsyn, and be waiting in the hallways when the secret police come to take the people for political reasons.
Maybe more people will object to the massive censoring that only enable leftist favorable reporting and comments to reach most of the people. It’s the electronic book burning in process. Soon to be activated on existing equipment placed in all of our cell phones. Heck! Our cars can take us to the secret police against our will these days.
What conspiracies are left that have not been shown to be plausible.
What is true or not true any more? Some say we are in Post Truth now.
That bastard is responsible for the murder of my great uncle’s sister and mother. All because my Great Uncle spoke truth in the USA about that particular tyrant in Germany. The current German Chancellor, soon to retire as head of her party, may achieve what that Chancellor appearing above only made a serious try to do. She may have destroyed Europe and Western Civilization, or had a great part in it. There will be much blood before we find out who wins this current invasion of Europe, the USA, and many parts of the world.

We are in time of need for a Charles Martel, Battle of Lepanto, Various battles by the Hungarian, The gates of Vienna led by the Polish King, and the efforts right after each of those victories consolidating the wins.
When people like him are winning, many people die.
Canada is getting 1,000,000 Somalis very soon if the Canadian Immigration Commissioner, who is Somal and now a Canadian citizeni, and Bad Boy Prime Minister Trudeau get what they have stated is a Canadian goal.

Swallwell proves that the liberal “nuclear disarmament” line is as phony as their “personal disarmament” one.

They just want everybody other than themselves disarmed. The only exception is “others” they trust- like MS-13, Islamists, and etc., who they believe they can count on to only kill people the liberals also dislike. Like Americans who are ‘non-progressives”, and Jews anywhere on Earth.

The idea that once the rest of us are out of the way, those “trusted primitives” will turn on the liberals never occurs to the latter. After all, they’re primitive, and so will worship the enlightened ones.

One more example of the fact that ideologues do not reason. they simply insist they are “morally right” on every subject, and never mind the evidence to the contrary.

30 Democrats in Puerto Rico with 109 lobbyists for weekend despite shutdown

Some 30 Democratic lawmakers left the government shutdown behind Friday on a chartered flight to Puerto Rico for a winter retreat with 109 lobbyists and corporate executives during which they planned to see the hit Broadway show “Hamilton” and attend three parties including one with the show’s cast.

Some 109 lobbyists and corporate executives are named in the memo, a rate of 3.6 lobbyists for every member. They include those from several big K Street firms, R.J. Reynolds, Facebook, Comcast, Amazon, PhRMA, Microsoft, Intel, Verizon, and unions like the National Education Association.

De Blasio Plants Flag Left Of Andrew Gillum — Claims The ‘Wrong People’ Have All The Money

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio defended his plan to provide health care to all New Yorkers — including illegal immigrants — on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper. He stopped short of explaining exactly how he planned to offset the cost, saying only that the “wrong people” had all the money and he planned to correct that.

Tapper pressed de Blasio further, referencing an earlier quote from the mayor. “You said something pretty radical this week that I want to ask you about. You said there’s plenty of money in the world. There’s plenty of money in the city. It’s just in the wrong hands.”

De Blasio nodded, “Yep. That is a quote.”

“Who decides whose hands are the right hands and whose hands are the wrong hands?” Tapper asked.

“When I say there’s plenty of money in this country, it’s just in the wrong hands, it means to say we need policies that give back to working people. Like guaranteeing health care for all,” de Blasio explained.
