Fortune cookie wisdom. Mind you, around here we have a list of numbers for Lotto on them as well.

In 2005, 110 people won a second tier lottery prize of $100,000 because they all played the numbers they found on a fortune cookie. The missed the 6th number and a share in the jackpot because the fortune cookie had a different number. The lottery investigated because usually the 2nd prize only has a couple of winners at the most. Once they determined what happened, they paid the winners.

When I was in college, back in the Polk administration, the region apparently suffered a printing catastrophe at the fortune cookie plant. All the cookies were printed with the first line from one fortune, and the second line from a different one. The two I remember best were:

You like to have your way, and are on occasion.

Serve for honor, not for honor

I got one of those a few years ago. I kept it for a long time, then lost it. Don’t remember what it said.

Just got done with my Thanksgiving dinner, a dozen family all around the three leaf extended table. And we had deep fried turkey, an electric fryer. Deeeelish. The white breast meat was moist, tender and flavorful.
And no launching into orbit. Especially since we deep fried in my garage. (cold with scattered rain),

So, once again, HAPPY THANKSGIVING, all you basket of deplorables.

It can be a source of pride and concern simultaneously when the child masters a subject before her mother does. Get used to it Sam. It will happen more frequently.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the deplorable DBDers.

The only way Thanksgiving could get any better would be for Sam’s turkey to do an ICBM MIRV re-entry on a crowd of pantyfas demonstrating for poultry rights…..

After years of consideration, I proclaim Sesame Cold Noodles a more suitable “dish” to bring/produce than creamed pearl onions, or green bean casserole!

Family, food, fun, freedom…all things we need to remember to be thankful for every day of the year. We here have them all still, but many do not.

And who’s to say enjoying the fare from Lee Ho Fooks can’t be as much of a thanksgiving tradition after watching a turkey learning to fly, as the more traditional use of ol’ Tom?

And among those wise words of fortune, maybe one saying, careful with those low-riders kid, you’re too young to strut that stuff and I’m too old to enjoy it. :I

I will say this….one of the finest Christmas eve dinners I ever had was in a lil’ ol’ town in Texas, Christmas eve 1985….not a restaurant in town open except a Chinese restaurant where I had the finest 4 sea wor ba I ever had….they even carved a dragon out of a carrot….pretty cool for two guys working out of town and away from their families for Christmas…

It seems ironic, but most of the engineers of my acquaintance are decent cooks, if not full-out gourmands….YMMV.

That’s a mystery to me too. Most engineers can read and follow instructions, and thus recipes, often obsessively.
That’s a good thing if the recipe is one of those excessively long picky things.

Major feat of engineering to launch that sucker like that; she doesn’t read recipes, she writes ’em. Like I said a while back, can’t wait to try it.
