No wonder the Klan and Jim Crow are shining examples of “inclusion” within the Democrat Party’s history.

Fear is indeed the mind killer, freedom killer…people killer.

And while the logistics might make it not applicable in this case (this psycho thought this through), the prospect of overwhelming self-defense is what fascists fear most.

      From Wikipedia:

Progressive disease or progressive illness is a disease or physical ailment whose course in most cases is the worsening, growth, or spread of the disease. This may happen until death, serious debility, or organ failure occurs. Some progressive diseases can be halted and reversed by treatment. Many can be slowed by medical therapy. Some cannot be altered by current treatments.

    Quoting Col. Kurt Schlicter:

The same people who want to take away our right to keep/bear arms also want to limit our speech, limit our ability to practice our religion and eliminate our basic due process rights.

It does seem that every “progressive” is filled with nothing but hatred, envy, and a general unhappiness no doubt caused by their own self-loathing…which of course they have to project on everyone else.

So weird that so many white “limousine liberals” seem to be filled with vitriol toward other white people because of their guilt at being born white.

Oyyy…at least Jan has managed to break free and find some happiness. Good for her.

I especially like it when Jan exercises her right to be “top-free” and “free the nipples”

      That’s my favorite freedom. 🙂

Sorry, this one’s just dumb. If every single one of the concert goers was armed and trained, they couldn’t effectively return fire with handguns against an obscured target 400 yards distant and 300+ feet above them. Even if they all had rifles the point stands. An Orlando-style attack is another matter.

The hoplophobes who make up a large part of the left’s base, the living part, fears armed citizens because they know that they could not be trusted to handle a gun responsibly.
I believe that what the left’s elites fear is the mind of the armed citizen, who is not waiting around for gummint to solve all his or her problems. When that mindset gets prevalent enough the liberal party is done, no matter how many dead and repeater votes they have.

    • October 4, 2017 at 5:52 am

Mostly, what they fear is retribution for what they dream of doing. One reason for the left’s embrace of anti-Christianity, anti-Semitism, and atheism is that the Judeo-Christian faiths hold that what you do in this life decides what you get in the afterlife. And the rules are pretty specific; they’re called the Ten Commandments.

Now, if you WANT to engage in theft, cuckolding, murder, adultery, idolatry, and etc., it’s far easier to justify it to yourself and others if you maintain that either (a) there is no afterlife or (b) the rules of those faiths don’t apply, but those of some others might. Like Islam, which demands the destruction or enslavement of “unbelievers” as an act of faith. Not to mention belief systems that insist that getting high is the One True Path To The Divine.

Obviously, if such belief systems are the only ones recognized as valid, then you can do whatever you want, to whoever you want, whenever you want, as long as you can avoid having to pay for it in this life. In the next life, you’ll be rewarded for hurting others. Or else there is no next life, so after you’re dead, who cares? You’ve had your fun at everyone else’s expense.

Yes, it is the mindset of “nobility” down through history. Notably in ancient China, Islam, and medieval and Renaissance Europe.

Needless to say, this sort of super-self-indulgent life is a lot easier to live if those you want to hurt for your own edification are defenseless. Predators, even fairly dumb wannabee ones, tend to avoid prey that can hurt them. There are always easier targets.

An armed populace is no longer a herd of easy prey, but a minefield of “hard targets” in the eyes of the “superior ones”.

It forces them to do the one thing they will resist to their own deaths; exercise restraint in their behavior. They see that as a betrayal of their true selves, and it simply will not be tolerated by them.

This is at the heart of the “gun control” debate. it’s ultimately about people who see themselves as something innately superior to the rest of humanity, and who want to do as they please- with the rest of humanity. And who have spent their lives being enraged that the consequences of what they dream of doing would not be pleasant for them.

Unless of course, they can strip the prey of their teeth and claws before getting down to the serious business of getting Gilles de Rais and/or Erzebet Bathory on their asses.

I’ve had far too many all-to-close encounters arguing with “Democrats” (what a ludicrously deceptive label) and have concluded that what they absolutely fear most is having their bad intentions exposed. No matter what you pretend to believe in, you cannot join the Left unless, at the very perhaps-unconscious root of it, you lust to destroy, punish, and steal. Expose that core motivation, and be careful they don’t draw a knife on you.

As to the return fire, the 32nd floor window is about 360 yards to the center of the kill zone. Since most of Texas would be CCW handguns it would be lucky shots that make it to the shooter. Many would be short and low into the hotel. Oh the humanity that would perish in that scenario.

As more “facts” come, more “iron clad conclusions” don’t add up. The list of why questions is astounding. One absolute change from now on is the fact that all the Vegas hotels will now have mandatory room service everyday.

Correct as to ROF, hence my logistics comment above that self-defense in this case was not applicable, exactly as the POS planned.

Getting to your truck for a rifle presumably while under fire, coming back and ID’ing the target, would have taken way longer than the active shooting went on…less than ten minutes or so they’ve said. Thanks to God that the first LE to the door caused him to go ahead and off himself, since the additional hour it took for SWAT to access would have meant a hell of a lot more shooting and a hell of a lot more casualties…which of course was the plan and is the answer to the media’s incredulous “Why so many guns and so much ammo?” This could have been much, much worse.

And as you said we can be grateful too that there was no external ROF as no doubt any kills from it would have been more innocents.

Sometimes there is no ideal response to or prevention from abject evil that as Trump said this individual embodied. But for leftists (and I don’t just mean those with D’s after their name, I’m looking at you, Ryan), to use such to curtail or infringe my right and ability to defend from other much more common and likely attack (like the attack on rights itself), is beyond cold and cruel.

The left’s response is to take the opportunity to call for denying my right to buy a gun. My response is to buy another gun today. And if you can, you should too.

    Regarding the “lone” shooter:

And folks… Please listen to the video recording full-auto fire going off:

    1. At 2 seconds into the video, distant auto-fire.

    2. At 4 seconds, VERY CLOSE auto-fire (that guy could RUN!) because…

    3. At 7 seconds, distant auto-fire took up again. “One” fast guy. Impressive.

The “CLOSE” sounds are the actual retorts from the rifle…the “DISTANT” sounds are the echoes reflected back from a building approximately 1000 yards away.
Being on the receiving end of fire, it’s easy to recognize.

UW, I’ve never been on the receiving end of gunfire, but I’m wondering if the volume difference could be due to the shooter shifting his aim point from way off-axis, to directly at the recording mic, then away again.

Single-point recording wouldn’t let you do it, but I’ll bet the audio from the numerous mics on stage could be analyzed for stereo-effect phase difference to determine if the loud vs. soft reports came from different locations on the hotel.

I wish we could trust the folks doing the analysis to tell us the truth, and not stick with the convenient “One shooter, he’s dead, end of story.” neat package they have now. As an OKC (metro) resident, I’m remembering all the loose ends from the Murrah bombing… still unresolved to this day (and no, I don’t think that was an inside job.)

I was still active duty AF at Tinker AFB, and volunteered to help. They had us policing the surrounding area for bomb truck fragments; little bits of twisted metal just beginning to rust. All that experience picking up cigarette butts in boot camp finally came in handy… LOL!

BTW, the shooter had 12 weapons fitted with “bump stocks” as opposed to full-auto converted actions. Having fired one (once), it takes some practice to get a consistent rate of fire with those rigs. Accuracy sucks, but he didn’t need accuracy to shoot fish in a barrel.

DonS — This ain’t Dallas with one lady with a Polaroid and a guy named Zapruder. There are gazillions of people who filmed this attack.

For instance: Full-auto fire filmed coming from the tenth floor FAR AWAY from those two broken windows. And…

Wait… rather than use up Chris’ bandwidth, lemme just post a bunch of sources. And I want to add: Two female employees of a different casino saw two armed men in combat gear go running by them while they hid.

Here’s links that really ought to be clicked on before they go away:

Two thirty-round magazines fired close by, then — at 1:53 in the video, extremely distant auto-fire is heard.

    https://video.search.yahoo.com/searc…a&action=click

This one has multiple auto-fire 56 seconds in:

    https://youtu.be/Xd4wBEZcOKE?t=62

This video clearly shows auto-fire from the 10th floor… thirty floors lower than the lone gunman, and in a different part of the building to boot.

    https://youtu.be/NVnNKOKVhx4?t=99

There are a ton more… but I made a screenshot of the 10th storey shooting position compared to the LONE shooter position.
