Day By Day

  • Indeed. Trust the plan, we have it all.

  • JTC

    1. I’m good with the deplorable redneck thing.

    2. Does this mean Jo’s been feeling up the Zedman?

    3. Still don’t know how our hot Asian Commander Suzy Q. fits in…

    • TomZ.

      3. SHE was likely the one that identified the fbi-cnn-swat ‘people’.

    • John M.

I thought Suzy was Jo, and she did a quick switch when they went in… I guess I’m lost again!

      • TomZ.

        Jo was Sam.

        • John M.

Like I said – lost again!

  • Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

Gap toothed? I’ll have you know the military has excellent dental care.

    • GWB

Better than the British at any rate.

  • Delilah T.

Weather report is “arctic cold infiltrates area”. Is Jo going to leave any residue behind to collect information?

  • Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

Deplorable? I’ll wear that as a badge of honor, ESPECIALLY when a DildoCrat says it. I’ve even added “Toxic” to that list.
    Gap-toothed? (see above)
Rednecked? And you say that like that’s something bad.
Trash? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

    • The 300

People that support infanticide have no cachet when they call others “deplorable”.

  • ExNuke

Having the misfortune to have lived next door to a few “liberals” over the years when I had the choice I moved to a small city in Mississippi. I find that I have a lot more in common with my deplorable redneck neighbors and they are much nicer people than the despicable former “people next door that called themselves “liberals”.
Robert Heinlein got it right; “Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.”

    • ExPorkchop

Heinlein rocks, but I would split hairs on the “lacking in altruism” point. Conservatives seem more charitable- at least with their own resources- than liberals.

    • Fox2!

The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled…

And they always have the assumption that they’ll be the ones doing the controlling.

  • Pamela

They forgot turnabout is fair play. Though they don’t play fair or follow just and honorable rules. Just following orders gets innocent people hurt and killed.

    • GWB

Even better than “turnabout” is seeing Matthew 7:2 in action right now, here in Virginia. I’m waiting for one of them to be raided by SWAT in the early morning hours. Will it be the minority sexual harasser (accused), the ‘racist’ who’s going to read TaNeCheesi Coates (whatever his name is) to redeem himself, or the oh-so-repentant ‘racist’ AG (the most Matthew 7:2 of the bunch)?

    • Peregrine John

It did occur to me that this sort of thing could become commonplace. “Just following orders” won’t go over to well with the general public, after the lessons of the past century.

And that’s just the first public reaction.

  • John M.

So if they’re being released, why are they still in restraints?

    • TomZ.

The have not yet been released, they are still dangerous, they are still in jail clothing.

  • JTC

Give me a doublewide in flyover country over a manse in San Fran Nan’s neighborhood any day.

    • S'aaruuk

    • kadaka

Rather wish for a doublewide on a tiny owned lot in SanFranNan’s district, probably worth more than half a million these days.

      • GWB

Would rather have the cowflops outside my door in flyover country, than the humanflops it would be (along with the used needles) in SanFran.

      • JTC

Hard truth gleaned from 40 years behind the pawn/gun counter:

Price. Cost. Value. Not interchangeable terms.

        Learn it. Live it.

        • kadaka

You all missed the “wish” part. If you were gifted said trailer, you could sell it to eager proggies for enough to buy a decent small country estate in someplace sane. What’s wrong with that?

          • JTC

            Nothing wrong with that.

Except, to slightly edit the old saw, if you wish in one hand and shit in the other, the former would stay empty and the latter would fill up…and make you right at home in the San Fran. 🙂

  • Calvin

Kind of makes me think that the government employees may need a sensitivity training program on identifying Americans. Did I say mandatory?

    • eon

Old and busted- American citizens with Constitutional rights.

New hotness- Deplorable gap-toothed redneck trash are not “real Americans”, only truly good, sensitive, caring progressives are.

So naturally they can do whatever they damn well please, especially if they’re doing it to anyone they define as “not us” or “not useful to,/em> us”.

Congratulations, you are this close to living in a totalitarian state.

      How does it feel?

      clear ether

  • Willie k

They may have to change their stereotype now that their Communist darling Stacy Abrams has a tooth gap you could drive a bus through.

  • rickn8or

Are we talking Stacy Abrams gap-toothed or Anna Paquin gap-toothed??

  • Ron

Just moving back to the storyline. We saw what Jo/Sam was doing, but what kind of bs were they trying to pull on Zed? Beating? Waterboarding? Making him watch Hillary speeches?

    • John

If it was the latter they only took him as far as the break room.

  • WayneM

I know Jo is bleeding edge high level tech but humour isn’t normally within the realm for AI.

    • John

Major mistakes in SF are made when the writers don’t think through the possibilities of their own work.
In the case of Roddenberry, the poor man described the Transporter as a fantastically advanced (for the Federation) technology that turned matter to energy and back again. Instead, with a little thought he could have explained it as an incremental application of warp technology, something much simpler and easier to explain.
The same goes for the AI in the Matrix. Rather than asserting the ridiculous notion of using humans for batteries, the writers should have stated the obvious, that the machines needed the humans for their _Intelligence_.
There is no reason Jo has to have its own intelligence if it can borrow it from somebody else and yet employ its own data base. This naturally limits Jo’s intelligence to more-or-less human norms and makes it dependent on its master(s), which gives it built in safeguards and doesn’t require the invention of a Theory of Intelligence that could result in the creation of The Singularity.

  • Jo should change shape in front of this jackass a few times then lean down to him, as the cuffs hit the floor…

“go ahead. SAY IT AGAIN. I DARE YOU.”

since there was likely a camera where Jo/Sam was held..I wonder how they liked that particular show?

  • MJ Larkins

    Yes, communists have families.

But they aren’t technically human beings.

    • Warhorse

Erm, careful there. I sympathize with the sentiment, but you really don’t want to turn into what you’re opposing.

  • David Grimes

    I lived in a 10 X 50 trailer for six years.

    While going to college.

    On the f*cking GI Bill.
