    JTC,

Ahem, now that Kiko and Mari are adults, and Mia is there, and Travis is still the Maestro of ‘Q perhaps they need to reopen the DoubleD Club.

    Sam,

    Why destroy the guitar?

Record the song and blast it through the streets of Gunpowder, Texas, and the nation.

    Brilliant lyrics, Chris.

    Thanks you, Barbara!

And at the end of the day we still live in the most exceptional country on the planet, populated by an extraordinary people governed by the most unique political system ever devised.

A look back through our history will reveal that we have met and prevailed over issues even more serious than the current mess, with an unbroken record of success.

It is our heritage to continue the struggle of our predecessors that this Republic and the nation endures. Each of us has a part to play in this struggle.

So do NOT despair, we WILL prevail.

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
The Republic (may) have weathered the present onslaught, but will it withstand the next?
The monumental scam called Socialism is at this very moment being enshrined in the Electronic Ocean by a legion of True Believers who have been made wholly unaware that we are all inheritors of Human Nature.
Our biological drive to Game the System is both the reason for our successes and our failures, our triumphs and our sins and is in the process of being massively amplified by our collective desires.
The Framers understood the need for all the “needless complications” they built into the Constitution. They recognized the existence of Human Nature and tried to act accordingly, but it took Charles Darwin to explain its origin and motivation and for that he was summarily ignored by both the political Right and Left. Darwin explained the origins of Corruption and why it is that all that is required for Evil to Triumph is for Good Men to do nothing.

They don’t. Hence the historic MAGA tsunamis of 2020 and 2022. Minus the rigging, stealing and coast-to-coast voter fraud, of course.

And that the whole accidental destruction of a 40K antique was PR for the movie, pretty effective if so.

To bolster that story supposedly a crossover collector of music/movie memorabilia offered more than that estimated value of the artifact for the wreckage and pieces of it, with no takers.

Playing up collectible industry scuttlebutt. Yes she not so much feigned, but is a talented actress (loved her talents as Stacy 😉 ).

And the conspiracy brings Martin in too as they got yuge PR and renewed interest from people that don’t know shit about music but all about expensive stuff, I sold a lot of Rolexes etc over the years to people like that.

Not pushing the narrative, just relating the industry internals wherein guitars are just a category among others like sports memorabilia, cars, coins, cards, purses believe it or not, and the aforementioned watches, and gambits to jack up values happen all the time, sometimes by design and sometimes just serendipity as with Cobain’s million dollar axe. Always remember the BC caveman pawnbroker who was asked “what gives things value?” To which he responds “Rarity.” Yep. All of that stuff including wrecked guitars, have real or more importantly perceived value, based on their real or more importantly perceived rarity.

And I do love a good conspiracy tale that actually works, in this case jacking up interest, name recognition, and most important of course, perceived value and demand. We can discuss the Gaston Glock story at some future point maybe, in his case more a matter of marketing brilliance and manipulation of intellectual lessers actually.

Oh, and the fire at the. Carus plant in LaSalle, IL on January 11, wiped out the sole U.S. producer of potassium permaganate and sodium permaganate used in municipal water treatment plants. At least 90 days before they get anything back on line.
