Of course, the problem with that is that a potential Cromwell might put Andy Burnham into full Alexander Farnese, Duke of Parma mode. See “William the Silent”.
Equally of course, there’s always the possibility that his sovereign, Charles III, is idiotic enough to go full Henry II/ Thomas Becket. Which would complete the trifecta of “Stupid English Kings Named Charles”.
Either way, I don’t see this ending peacefully. Or particularly well.

I’ll respectfully dispute the percentage of population; it’s much higher. Not all are of sects that need to be “solved” but quite a few are. Talking a couple billion people with higher birth rates.

Britain and France are at the point where very shortly their ‘elected’ governments will be majority islamists and rule both countries ‘legally’…Britain and France both have nuclear weapons……….
True. France has 290 nuclear weapons with delivery systems. Great Britain has 225. If Islam takes over those two countries Mullahs will control 515 nukes, nearly as many as China at 600.
The “mainstream liberal” progressive Democrats have the same delusion about the DSA that they do about Islam. They believe that both groups are useful idiots they can control to gain and keep power.
In France, the Girondists had a similar delusion about the Jacobins. And in Russia, the Mensheviks were similarly overly-optimistic about the Bolsheviks.
ICYDK, the Girondists got a date with the National Razor, and the Mensheviks got ‘dobe-walled.
Self-styled “soft socialists” are sociopaths who generally don’t really accurately perceive, or understand, the homicidal psychotics further to their left until it’s too late. For them.
But since by that time those psychotics have generally “purged” everyone to the right of said soft socialists, that’s small comfort to the rest of us.
Would that they did…vote splitting decides more seats than anything else, up here very few liebrals ever get 50% of the vote but with the usua threeor four parties on the ballot, they don’t need to…recently we saw over 200 ‘parties’ running in the riding the Conservative leader happened to be running in…twice in a row…that backfired on them though, he won with 80% of the vote, the rest got split up 🙂
