He was transported and then killed. He believed by being a righteous person, he would arrive in heaven.
A collection of Rabbis were called to a meeting. They gathered around a table with a single revolver on the table. They had long discussions as to what they should do with the revolver. This was during the Nazi occupation.
How do you explain to a person who believes eternity is more important than this short life on earth?
