Usually they shut down for a few days after an event like this because of the vitriol and hate being posted by their members. The shutdown limits the commentary from being copied and possibly used against them in court.
If you had checked in over there yesterday early in the afternoon the hateful comments by the cross-eyed, spittle slinging lefties was unbelievable. The fact that the site is still up implies that DU is no longer concerned about legal action. That in itself is bothersome in the implications.
