    Behind the curve?
    No.
Sam is the curve, and I stand behind her in admiration.

Seriously, though, what if Texas, Idaho, Utah, Florida, Alabama, and all the other bright Red states just told the District of Criminals FedGov, “there is no more rule of law, the Constitution is broken, we quit and we’re leaving the FUSA/USSA. Bye.” (with the implied how ya gonna stop us/wha’cha’gonna do about it?)

Yes sir, as simple and as complicated as that.

And some thoroughly innoculated ones still spout the line that those Freedom Fighters were trying to Organize the Labor and had to be put down.

        Lessons were learned though.

It was rather lopsided then, agricultural vs manufacturing.
I think it would be lopsided again, but armed free citizens vs GibsMeDat FSA chimpouts.

When empires die, it’s generally suicide rather than murder.

Most often, an incompetent, greedy and decadent ruling class goes more sociopathic than previously and tries to tax, spend, orgy, and terrorize its way into Absolute Power Forever.

What it mostly does is lose the loyalty of the class of “myrmidons” (military, police, and etc.) it has relied upon to “keep order”.

Said ruling class accordingly creates a new class of “protectors”, a Praetorian Guard if you will. Think of the Varangian Guard without the code of honor. Who will carry out any order, never mind its “legality” or otherwise.

And in the end, the rulers learn the wisdom of Machiavelli’s admonition about mercenaries.

Of course by that point, the surviving ones generally don’t care, as they’re the ones who were from the beginning mostly entranced by their power to create Blood, Devastation, Death, War and Horror purely for its “entertainment value”.

Unfortunately, from what I was seeing before I took the uniform off for the final time and set my ‘retired’ badge on the mantle, the Myrmidons have become the Praetorian Guard. Our rcmp rode over old women on walkers and joked about it being the new musical ride, you only get what you hire and for the last ten years or so, they’ve only been hiring adrenalin junkies on power trips with delusions of competence. You’re better off with the ‘criminal class’, some of the more redneck variety would probably follow, the feral gimmies not so much.

“…you only get what you hire…”

So simple yet so profound. Yet this part… “and for the last ten years or so, they’ve only been hiring adrenalin junkies on power trips with delusions of competence.” that has so affected the domestic part of that myrmidon with its resultant backlash, has instead played out as the wokening, the softening and the feminization of the global part. Does not bode well does it? Without YUGE change SOON this republic will complete its death spiral.

Oldarmourer, just to let you know, the RCMP does not have a mounted unit for crowd control… just the Musical Ride which is decidedly not tactical.

The assholes-on-horses who trampled an aboriginal elder (and her walker) were Toronto Police Service’s mounted unit. Most of the overzealous police involved in the armed suppression of peaceful protestors were volunteers brought in from large municipal forces across the country as well as OPP and SQ. Not that the RCMP personnel covered themselves with glory either.

I was in Ottawa during the Freedom Convoy, having retired from the RCMP and I hadn’t yet moved out of the city. I walked amongst the convoy and it was kind of amazing… joyful, energetic and hopeful… the anti-thesis of Trudeau the Younger and his ilk…

        @WayneM
True, it was Ottawa’s finest leading the charge of the woke brigade but it was the rcmp chatroom that coined the ‘new musical ride’ phrase and got a big chuckle out of it…until it got leaked.
Looking at the response to a ‘mass shooting’ down here, along with a few others in Alta., etc. there’s a serious lack of training in anything except ‘wokeness’ and ‘conflict de-escalation by any means except dealing with the primary danger’ that’s not only been tolerated by the politically appointed ‘leadership’ but encouraged by them.

As I see it, the current problems are due not only in part to reduced standards for admission and ‘promotion by tickboxes’ but also to a genuine fear on the part of many officers that ‘anything you do will be considered wrong, including doing nothing’ and doing nothing is easier and politically safer if you can call it ‘non-aggressive response preparation’ or whatever the buzzword of the day is.

When a large number of Officers are either itching for an unnecessary fight to prove they can do it or scared of getting into a necessary one because they know their ‘leaders’ will look for any excuse to fire or discipline them for imagined infractions to appease the media and their political masters, then it’s the citizen who’s supposed to be the one protected that suffers in the end…and the professional instigators laugh all the harder.

An 18th century Scottish political philosopher (and to some extent Toqueville) described the life cycle of a democratic society as:

      Bondage
      Faith
      Courage
      Liberty
      Abundance
      Selfishness
      Complacency (personal responsibility abandoned)
      Apathy
      Dependence
      Bondage

Where do you reckon our constitutional republic is on this spectrum?

So what do you think those millions of military age men are for?
The feds have time. They can recruit them and train them into some semblance of order, preparation, and competence before sending off large gangs in whatever direction the chose first.
Don’t expect to hear about it on the internet, and we know the “media” lies worse than hell.

When it comes to the muzbro and their plan for global domination, so many words wasted over and over for so many years to simply state,

Death to Jews! Death to America!

To which the response to the former is Never Again!

And the response to the latter is Over My Dead Body!

Both of those responses might be inadequate under the “rule” of Biden et al…

Alinsky said “use their rules against them.” If the Dems think this is a legitimate maneuver, perhaps a red state should issue a parallel opinion taking Biden off that state’s ballot. See how they like it.

Might be the best way to drive home the fact that this is BS.

One of the very few things the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre got right was his “jackbooted thuds” comment. No matter how much body armor those guys layer on, there’s a few people with the capability to build super accurate rifles and the willingness to start the party from half a mile away. When those guys get a bellyfull of being abused, the consequences will be epic, and the mercenaries who have sold their souls to the elites will be the first to feel the sting. By the time it’s the bigwigs’ turn to go under the sword, they’re going to find that their lap dogs might have developed a taste for a different kind of dinner menu.

A couple have mused on “who’s going to throw the first nuke?”

Given the huge batches of cash funneled into iran, the meek acceptnce of their funding every terrorist organization they can and the utter acquiescence to the latest round of attacks on shipping by their direct proxy using iranian weapons without even a peep of complaint, let alone threat of retaliation to prevent more (the new ‘fleet’ will spend six months arguing over who’s in charge and doing nothing unless some ship’s Capt. has a burst of personal initiative and ends his career by firing back) not to mention all the other grovelings to iran that have gone on.

I’m not sure that the first nuke hasn’t been put in place already.

I’m seriously wondering if iran hasn’t already quietly built a few devices and tested them in N Korea.
I have less trouble believing that than assuming the Norkies came up with something that complicated on their own.

I also wonder if said devices are not currently sitting quietly in undisclosed or maybe even disclosed locations in major population centres in the mainland US that can’t be evacuated without causing far more death and damage from a panicked populace than any rudimentary fission weapon would.

That would be the ultimate blackmail and as long as it doesn’t affect them personally, one the politicians in office today would pay, seeing as it isn’t ‘their’ money.

Of course if some sort of ‘disaster response’ were to be engineered to attempt an orderly evacuation, the compromised media would be all to happy to receive a ‘leak’ from a ‘reputable source’ and immediately push the ‘nuke’ story on every news station thus guaranteeing the desired panic regardless.

Once again, I sincerely hope I’m wrong and I’m only throwing out scenarios to see if anyone else can see a flaw in them as sort of a mental exercise (I get bored easily) 🙂

Just remember, if I can think of it then someone as twisted as a politician or a psychotic mullah or ayatoldyaso can too.

Just noting that the Leftist, Collectivist, Totalitarians are overwhelmingly urban. The agricultural -v- manufacturing divide today is almost all urban -v- rural. Urban areas are now sufficiently large that they cannot survive absent massive constant imports from elsewhere. As in food, water, electricity, natural gas, medicine, gasoline and diesel. If things get nasty, they will get very nasty.

Long , long ago I used to write for military journals. And had some interesting discussions of strategic matters with fellow writers. Iran came up, being more the center of events than today. Iran would take multiple detonations to deal with effectively noting that it would only involve counter-value and not counter-force accuracy. The city of Tabriz is the center of their nuclear industry [or at least it was then]. The city of Qom is the theological center of Sh’ia Islam. Mention was made of 2-3 EMP bursts to destroy the national infrastructure, altitude and epicenter adjusted to keep the effects inside Iran. Israel has a sufficient arsenal to do them all.
