You’d almost think it was “the plan” for blue states to go bankrupt pursuing SJW goals, on the assumption that it would be politically impossible for the federal government to let them stew, fail to bail them out.
The best answer might be to publicly set the rule, in advance, that any such state-government financial collapse will be dealt with by the appointment of a special administrator of the opposite party to that which ran the state into the ground.

The problem is a great deal of that “foreign aid” is in the form of defense contracts. The reason those companies are there is that the quality of life for the well-to-do is still quite high.
This will change however if those blue states keep jacking their taxes.

But you don’t understand. The way things run in a blue state is all these people know so of course they’d vote to make things like they were in the state they left. Same reason why so many refugees and migrants (except they are NOT migrants but IMMIGRANTS!) vote Democrat. It’s all they’ve ever known. That tendency to vote for the familiar is what the Dems are counting on and why they are so enamored of open borders.

The premise behind Escape From New York is looking better and better…….

      • January 19, 2019 at 12:35 pm

Being in Fla for six decades nobody knows better than me how transplants can change things.

But the real-life “escape from NY” that turned Palm Beach and Broward counties into satellite boroughs of there and the farmers and company lifers who transformed the heartland of the state into Q-tip “mobile home communities” and RV parks that we’ve endured for lo these many years were different in their motivations than what we’re seeing here.

These two demographics were mostly trying to escape from the mountains of white global warming but happy to bring their lifestyles and attitudes along with them to the sun belt. But if you look closely at a 2016 red/blue election map broken down by county it is clear there are many entire regions -mostly the productive ones- even in the bluest of states that share more with us than with them.

If this new demographic -not determined just by geography but by ideology have decided that it is too late in the game or they are too outnumbered by the hives of the cities to turn around their state, they are welcome to Red America where their voices and influence will not be drowned out…and what they are specifically escaping from are things they absolutely do not want to bring with them.

And if that is the case, that they share the love of and pledge to defend and put America first I would tend to tolerate a little bit of their other “how we did it up north” crap. And the places they are leaving? Unless they and their communist/elitist/muslimist controllers are successful in taking back the reins from D.Plorables and D.Trump, they will eventually collapse under the weight of their own classical insanity and fatally flawed utopia (redundant).

There are really only two domestic issues…and they are actually fully intertwined with national defense (arguable the only articulated function of fedgov), they are immigration and guns. Everything else depends entirely on what happens with those. And there are a lot of Americans even in places like NY and Cali, that understand that all too well, having their rights overwhelmed already by the former and their rights restricted to the latter. They may be right that the only answer is escape. Welcome Deplorables from wherever in America you come!

Oregon bill would cap magazines to 5 rds, ration ammo to 20 rds/month

Democrats enjoy a super-majority in both the Oregon House and Senate and have muscled several anti-gun bills through Salem to the waiting desk of fellow Dem, Gov. Kate Brown. Brown, who has in the past directed state police to track and analyze gun transactions, while urging Congress to ban “assault weapons” and enact no fly/no buy legislation, picked up a $250,000 donation from Bloomberg in 2016.

I’m a bit surprised DiFi hasn’t tried to introduce a bill which mirrors the language in the upcoming Florida referendum. In that referendum, there is an amendment to the Fla constitution which would define “the militia” as the State Guard and the Police. It seems to me that such a change would effectively emasculate the 2nd A without actually amending or appealing it. Would not the same tactic work at the federal level? Would not a resolution passed by both houses of congress defining the “militia” as the Federal Armed Forces plus Federal Law Enforcement have the effect of eliminating constitutional support of private ownership of firearms?

Here is a link to the particulars:
        https://ballotpedia.org/Florida_Ban_on_Military-Style_Firearms_and_Disqualifications_for_Firearm_Possession_Initiative_(2020)

Here is the language to be removed and what the proposed replacement is:
“The following bold text would be added and italicised text would be deleted:
        (a) The right of the people to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves and of the lawful authority of the state shall not be infringed, except that the manner of bearing arms may be regulated by law.

The people of Florida declare that a well-regulated militia is necessary for the security of the State and further designate the National Guard of the State of Florida and organized police forces as its militia. The Militia, while on active duty, while training or in their training facilities shall possess all types of weaponry and arms required to defend the State. The weapons shall include, but not limited to fully automatic weapons, assault weapons, large magazine weapons holding more than seven rounds of ammunition and magazines with capacity over seven rounds. No other person entering or residing in the State shall possess any weapon or firearm that functions like or has the capacity of a military style weapon. Military style weapon means any gun with a magazine capacity of more than seven rounds of ammunition or any weapon capable of firing in fully automatic mode, any weapon capable of being modified in any manner to fire in a fully automatic mode or any weapon classified as a sniper rifle. Any person other than the well-regulated militia who possesses such a gun or weapon, shall within one year of the enactment of this section surrender that gun or weapon to the local police or militia at which time that gun or weapon shall be destroyed. Possessing such a gun or weapon thereafter shall be a felony with punishment by up to one year in prison.

Further, to protect the population of the state no person shall possess a firearm of any kind if: 1) they have been convicted of a felony; 2) convicted of three or more misdemeanors; 3) had their drivers license suspended or revoked for driving under the influence, careless or reckless driving, or excessive speeding; 4) has been the subject of two or more domestic abuse emergency calls or investigations; 5) they are a person whose mental condition has been affirmed as temporarily or permanently psychologically disturbed by a person with a medical degree; 6) or if they are a person who has made any substantiated threat of violence against another person.

The provisions of this section are self-implementing and are immediately in effect upon adoption.

Note: In the original article the text to be deleted was strike while text to be added was underline. The board here didn’t take the text native so I used italics and bold to show the distinction.

        kadaka

“Military style weapon means any gun with a magazine capacity of more than seven rounds of ammunition”

So Henry tube-fed lever actions will be classified as military-style weapons. That would be more objectionable if it wasn’t for the historical precedents.

But going after the 9-shot .22LR revolvers is beyond deplorable.

” (d) been subject to two or more domestic abuse emergency calls or investigations; ”

        Rife for abuse.

Also the national second amendment applies by incorporation of the rights to all of the people of the states. if I recall correctly. We have a conflict of laws event possibly.

Politically, if we have the invasion continue and the invaders vote, then …….

maybe time to counter the whole process and kick people like DNC guy Perez out of their citizenship because his parents both had legal issues about their being in the USA when he was born. That 14th Amendment has a bite for all of the peopel who believed the progressives moving of the meaning of words from the original intent and application of the 14th Amendment as well as the progressives changing of how Wang vs USA (1898) U S Supreme Court was decided. Legal or “illegal immigrant” is possibly irrelevant by a Justice Brennan footnote a few decades back, but the analysis of other issues in Wang would make Perez a Mexican citizen so far as I understand it, and not a citizen of the USA. And then the invader aspect. Then look at his being a part of the LA Raza movement and organization.
Upon questioning, I find that a vast majority of Americans that I have talked with believe that a child born to a foreign national in the USA is not a US citizen, and should not be recognized as one.

Posted By -NO AUTHOR- On 12/12/2018 @ 6:52 pm In APP Frontpage,Money,Politics,U.S.,World | No Comments

Democrats claim the $5 billion President Trump wants from Congress to fund a border wall is a waste of money, but the annual burden of illegal immigration on taxpayers is $155 billion, according to an independent report.

The Gateway Pundit blog points to a 2017 report by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, or FAIR, titled “The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers that breaks down the financial costs on top of the threats to national security and public safety.

The blog notes the $155 billion number does not take into account American jobs lost, commerce affected by remittances to Mexico, and the health crisis and deaths due to illegal drugs.

that would effectively terminate both Trump

if he gives the demoncrats everything they want to get his (bogus) “Wall” funding – full legalization of the DACA orcs and etc. – he loses an enormous chunk of his voting base, and with it the 2020 election.
