Wow. On that note, and referencing epador’s closing comment from yesterday revealing he went full Don…not Don T, Don P.! I have to say:

Wow, impressive. Makes Skye High seem snakebelly low. 🙁

On behalf of myself and other pikers, thank you for your sacrifice and support of a truly prescient view and voice in the wilderness.

I hadn’t realized how long I’d been reading Muir’s stuff and nodding along until I was browsing old posts from my long-dormant excuse for a blog and saw this:

    http://poetnthepawnbroker.blogspot.com/2008/12/truth.html

A post from December ’08 wherein I expressed awe at the ability of CM to zero in, as it were, on the zero. And with the perspective of what we have seen happen in the ensuing eight years, awesome just doesn’t express it…how amazingly and gut-wrenchingly accurate is that?

How can I support DBD without putting my credit card # on the computer? I do not trust computers. Is there a mailing address?

I do hope we do not have to get to the point where ‘Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun’.
There are too many outsiders ready to jump in.
But the Beltway Boys have on blinders that don’t let them see the rest of the country.

Government power is based on force. Either the threat of it or its actual use. This is true whether you’re talking about foreign affairs or domestic. It all boils down to “Do as we demand or we will kill you.”

The present junta’s mistake has been making that threat too obviously and too often. Americans do not react well to bullies.

The One and his minions may get a Khanesque visceral thrill from basically telling everyone “We own you”, but repeatedly putting on displays of callous disregard for the law, the Constitution, and the welfare of the people in pursuit of their Glorious Revolution has made people realize that they are radical revolutionaries.

Americans, as a rule, do not like people who think or act like Che’ Guevara. Let alone ones who wear his mug on T-shirts and put up posters of it all over the place.

They remember what a vicious, psychotic, homicidal little fuck he really was, Hollywood notwithstanding. And that he was a Communist precisely because it was a philosophy that was OK with him being a vicious, psychotic, homicidal little fuck.

Simply put, the American people have no interest in being ruled by such. No matter how “enlightened” they claim they really are.

Eon: It’s Civilization vs Boskone all over again! Boskone considered it’s best operatives to be the vicious, psychotic, homicidal little fucks. Helmuth, Fernald, Crowningshield, Gray Roger, the Overlords of Delgon, Nadreck, the Ploorans. All cut from the same fetid, debased fabric.

Um, Nadreck was the Palainian L2, and Helmuth was actually pretty damned smart, I’d say right up there with Graf von Spee. (He, too, might have issued an order like “comb Trenco, inch by inch”, without thinking about it first.)

But other than that, I’d say you were firing on all jets.

Eon, sweetie, do you have any idea how close Venezuela is to outright civil war? Maduro inherited Chavez’s ’empire’, thinking the cash flow would last forever. Wrong. Venezuela is now thisclose to civil war.

Never underestimate the stupidity of dictators. Try a dose of Solzhenitzyn and remember the rebellion at Sobibor.

Ok people, reach in your pants and pull it out for Mr. Muir. Hey you on the left, I meant your wallet. Chris is going to have a hard enough year ahead of him that we should ease his burden a bit. Getting to read DBD everyday eases mine.

I know its been tough economically for many but at least match last years and if possible increase to the next level. Also spread this to your community. Some will enjoy it, some will be Pained by it, some will be offended. Go the distance.

Always happy to support Chris and Day by Day…

Sorry to change the topic slightly, but check out this short article and please contact your representative in Congress. John McCain is supporting a provision in the Defense budget for next year that calls taking vintage surplus 1911s from the CMP and melting them down to make force protection barriers. The claim is that it will save money by re-purposing the weapons. It will be a real tragedy if it goes through. It’ll be another tragedy if we re-elect him in AZ. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/06/josh-wayner/is-uncle-sam-set-to-melt-civilian-marksmanship-program-1911-pistols/

To be fair most of the .45s are old and not well maintained.

    • June 17, 2016 at 2:02 pm

“…it will save money by re-purposing the weapons.”

      Lessee now, scrap steel melt value @ .50 lb. X 2.4 lbs = $1.20 per 1911

CMP value (and interventor, old is a feature not a flaw for 1911’s, even poor maintained ones have a couple hundred in parts value) = $200-$500.

I wish it was bad math on the part of Maverick that would make him suggest such a thing, but there is only one reason a liberal like him and other dims and gopes want to melt a gun and that’s to take it out of the civilian arsenal. Fucking idiot.

Hate to be the apostate, but get a 9 x 19mm. It and .45 get the job done about the same with most loads, having same KE, 9 holds more rounds, and there’s been a major shift to 9 x 19 with U.S. LEO plus Federal agencies, so ammunition will be easier to obtain in future.

BTW, U.S. MILSPEC 9 x 19 now fires a 124 gr. FMJ at 1300 for 465 FPE, same as the 124 gr Buffalo Bore commercial JHP. That’s high . 38 Super Auto to low/medium .357 Magnum power levels, and 60 FPE more than MILSPEC .45 230 gr. hardball. Just sayin’.

        cheers

      • June 17, 2016 at 2:35 pm

In the business the saying is “9mm is the new .22”

And with good CCI .22 running .10 rd. and still hard to find while 9 fmj is under .20 rd. and ubiquitous, that ain’t far off.

But “apostate” here is irrelevant; this isn’t a discussion of “true believers” in the caliber wars, but rather a rebuke of prog efforts to destroy history and/or functional defense tools under the false guise of budget considerations, and as usual condescending to the people like we are the ignorant fools and not them.

9mm is .45 set for stun.

Carried a M1911 for many years in the Army and it was always well maintained, most weapons in the arms room are kept clean and lubed so it can be used at a moments notice. Most units have an armorer or two that maintain all small arms and machine guns when the y are not being used.
