It takes a lot of rails and space to fit it on the end of the AR next to the flamethrower, million candlepower LED flashlight, and chainsaw bayonet attachments. Works best with a 2-inch aramid fiber-reinforced 3-point sling.

Saw a guy whose weapon had multiple attachments with duct tape over the magazine well, asked. Showed me how the receivers were empty except for electrical switches on the trigger and safety selector. He just needed a barrel for mounting all the things and the switches operated them. The buffer tube held DU counterweights for balance. The tape was for now because after getting that far on the dream project he couldn’t yet afford the custom well plug push dagger holder. Some people like melee fighting way too much.

Depends. Odd word cleave, with two almost opposite meanings.

Split right down the middle is one, hold tight together is the other.

Context is everything, depending on the kind of beaver involved, the hairy voracious kind or…wait a minute…

But only one works well for Zed’s purposes here I think. ;D

Actually “beaver cleaver” was a DARPA project to deter aggression from likely-northern invaders with heavy garments, looks and sounds very intimidating, makes them hesitate. Mainly for attackers they didn’t really want to kill, with Soviet-conscripted Canadians being considered. Ah, it was the Eighties. They’d give a grant for remote-controlled alpacas for landmine detection.

To my American friends, the Canadian people have an election coming up on October 21st… a few short weeks away…

For the past four years, the illiberal Liberal Party lead by Justin Trudeau, a trust fund wastrel who worked variously as a part-time ski instructor and a substitute drama teacher before leveraging his famous last name to become a Member of Parliament and eventually the Prime Minister of Canada. Picture a pasty white version of Obama but with a lower IQ…

In Canada, we don’t elect the Executive Branch separately. Like in England, the main body of our government is the House of Commons. Each politician must win their own seat in their own riding (like the House of Representatives)… with the party winning the most seat then leading the government. The leader of that largest party becomes the Prime Minister… and selects the rest of his executive branch from the other members of parliament.

Trudeau’s Liberals won on the promise of legalizing marihuana and a number of other progressive policy promises. They’ve spent the past four years incurring the largest deficit spending spree in Canadian history while hamstringing our resource development, especially with regards to pipelines and oil bitumen.

Trudeau personally has been found guilty for breaches of Conflict of Interest legislation, initially on a non-substantive matter (accepting the invitation to a vacation on a billionaire’s private island (no, not Epstein) while said billionaire was lobbying the government for charitable funding) and then on a substantive matter (attempting to interfere in a criminal prosecution of a company on corruption charges) but the media is working overtime in the spin & control departments to the point where the memory hole is reportedly beginning to smoulder.

The Conservatives (yes, we name our political parties well) picked the most boring & non-offensive centrist leadership candidate imaginable on the mistaken belief that disaffected Liberal voters might be tempted by a not-very-conservative Conservative… a Conservative-In-Name-Only…

In the leadership campaign, 49% of the Conservative Party members (including yours truly) voted for Maxime Bernier who dares to speak without kowtowing to political correctness… who talks openly about ending deficit spending, ending crony capitalism, eliminating the bailout package for Canadian media and reducing the size & scope of government… In other words, a fiscally conservative libertarian…

The CINO leader told Bernier point-blank that none of his policies would be part of their platform… so Bernier decided to create his own party… the People’s Party of Canada (bad name) and discovered there is actually an appetite for change in Canada.

So I’m torn between my preference for Bernier and his common sense policy platform, my personal like for the local Conservative candidate and my absolute lack of knowledge about the People’s Party candidate…

Wish your northern neighbours luck… we’re going to need it if we’re to survive this election and the aftermath…

      Prime Minister of Canada:

Not outlined in any constitutional document, the office exists only as per long-established convention (originating in Canada’s former colonial power, the United Kingdom) that stipulates the monarch’s representative, the governor general, must select as prime minister the person most likely to command the confidence of the elected House of Commons; this individual is typically the leader of the political party that holds the largest number of seats in that chamber.

The leader of your country is an old habit you refuse to break. Your parliamentary form of government allows the losing parties of an election to gang up as a coalition and punish the actual winners. I’m having trouble generating a lot of sympathy here.

You mean, like Comey, Mueller, Pelosi, Waters, the MSM, et al have been doing continuously here? Don’t see much distinction.

    • September 15, 2019 at 11:43 am

Wayne, as to your CINO’s I have a couple words for you…McCain, Romney, et al…it ain’t the party per se but the lack of pissed off resolve in the electorate, in your case the reps who do the electing but had to in turn be elected themselves that stick to the status quo. But while a new party of like-minded patriots is attractive, the infrastructure and power of the party itself is not replaceable in the short term. And to that point I have another word for you…Trump.

Ontario (where I currently live) spent 15 years under successively worse leftist Liberal provincial governments. In less than two decades, they took Ontario from being the economic powerhouse of Canada to being a have-not. Oddly, the special interests and unions flourished… so there’s that…

With each provincial election, I kept wondering when the people would wake up and say “ENOUGH!” but, in each election, the Conservatives picked leaders who talked fiscal conservatism long enough to be chosen as leader… and then ran on a platform of “liberal-lite” policies.

In the lead-up to the most recent election, the party chose Patrick Brown who talked the talk… but then about-faced and was headed toward “liberal-lite” policies… I was about as fed up as you can imagine… but we got lucky. Brown was subjected to a media “#MeToo” campaign and got ousted from leadership in the final months before the election.

The Conservatives did a hasty leadership campaign and chose Doug Ford… the brother of the deceased former mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, who became notorious for going onto Jimmy Kimmel’s show… not to mention his drug habits…

Both Fords are unabashedly conservative… and the leftists absolutely HATE them both with a passion close to unholy… The media tried a smear campaign against Doug but got nowhere.

Long story short, Doug Ford was elected with a solid majority and a mandate to reduce the size & scope of government. Despite constant comparisons to Trump and a similar negative focus, the Conservatives have stabilized spending and are working at reversing years of horrific legislation.

All of that to say although Trudeau is hugely unpopular, I’m not sure the electorate has had enough… and the CINO might be unelectable.

All political parties eventually decline, become watered down or corrupt, and die. It remains to be seen if the miracle of Trump and MAGA can rejuvinate the badly compromised GOP and rescue it from itself.

Not a rejuvenation so much as a coup…and the miracle was and is bottom-up; we the Deplorables did this, and it needs to -has to- continue and redouble post-Trump if the Republic is to be saved.

True, every Party will either die outright or be rebuilt by a small faithful cadre. The Republican Party lost its way by selling its soul to Big Money and eventually lost out to the Democrats who are now suffering the same fate.
We’ve had a constant love/hate relationship with the Elites and when they inevitably lose their good sense to their decadence (as with the Woke Cult) we get the likes of Trump to rock them back on their heels for a while.
I think our biggest long term problem is the one we’ve been having since the end of the Cold War.
The Military-Industrial Complex that Eisenhower warned us of has effectively bought Congress. We’ve been committing ourselves to wars where mere punitive expeditions would have sufficed…if even that.
Granted, Red China may be a problem, but I think Eisenhower’s Poker Game will win out just as it did against the Soviet Union now that Trump has decided to stuff the Commies back in their cesspool.

Trudeau is basically a French Canuck version of the wastrel married a billionares daughter O’Rourk who’s crazy and desperate enough to say what the rest believe… His “hell yes we coming fo yo AR-47’s” isn’t a worry – it’s all the zombies in the audience cheering that crap on. Kamala laughing at the idea of being limited by the Constitution (to rousing applause) is worrying…how do we get to the cops who will be given orders to seize private arms that course of action leads to stacked bodies, on both sides, and that they’re outnumbered? Cuz we lose, politically, as soon as blood is spilled….
