Left-liberal women (including my aunts) have spent most of the last century believing that after the destruction of Evil, Patriarchal Western Civilization (TM), a Utopia Ruled By Enlightened Women Will Spontaneously Bloom.

And “males” will be reduced to breeding stock kept in cages.

(Yes, Lyrane II in Second Stage Lensman by E.E. “Doc” Smith was their ideal, even though none of them ever read that book. Like Orwell, “Skylark” Smith’s warnings were often mistaken for “User’s Manuals”.)

I suggested that before they start hiring the architectesses to design their Golden City of Gynetopia, they might want to read Walk to the End of the World (1971) by Suzy Mckee Charnas.

The two sequels (which drastically “retconned” the “world”) were written mostly to get the Femynysts to cancel their fatwa on her for daring to write the first one.

It still stands as the most realistic assessment by an actual psychologist (Charnas) of what a post-Smash, neo-primitive world would be like.

Femynysts would not like living in it. Assuming, that is, that anyone else there would be willing to put up with them for any longer than it would take to render them “carbon-neutral”.

Primitive “Edens” are not nice places to live. And even Tarzan and Jane sensibly kept their rifles loaded.

Ever notice the feminists who are loudest denouncing “Evil, Patriarchal Western Civilization (TM)” have never lived outside Western Civilization? Those who have tend to appreciate it a lot more.

        larryarnold,

The realization that 90% of Civilization was created by 8% of the population; a group no woman can ever join, no matter how much surgical self-mutilation she pursues or powerful sex hormones she ingests; tends to drive them to totally reject that which makes it possible for them to exist as anything but chattel.

Yes…Queen Helen of Lyrane II: A Seven-Sector Callout, a Thionite Dream; and a soulless, merciless, homicidal psychopath who would mind-blast any Y-chromosome-bearing entity without pause or concern. (And wrong-thinking females were just as likely to be targeted as well. Just ask Illona Potter!)

But at least Helen could change. Granted, after sustained exposure to Clarissa, the Red Lensman.

You notice no matriarch gave Cris any guff about her Greys. I rather suspect the twin DeLameters she was so obviously ready to draw, and skilled in the use of, might have had something to do with that.

Regardless as to whether their final results ended up as part of the Great Books of the Western World, a paperback novel, in an early science fiction magazine, or burned as kindling in a fireplace:

Regardless as to whether they thought they were writing about the way to true peace and happiness, or prophesying against the snake oil salesmen and charlatans:

The most that anyone has ever accomplished in trying to write about Utopia is to lay bare before the entire world their personal failings, demons, and depravities.

Like what we saw in the 1940’s. Off to the showers, the ovens and ending in the grave yards. Always works for utopias.
