Hardly 49% if you go by the last election, I mean the reral count.
        More like 14%.

It’s a whole ‘nother dimension in time here at the Ranch…I like it, always a surprise in store.

Man that is a nice top that JAP is kind of wearing…I like that too.

I will quibble about the stats however; 49% don’t believe, approve, demand, know, or push a damn thing about any of that but what they are told, and even then the true percentage is much lower so is simply changed or created out of thin air, much like how they run elections. All irrelevant as it is their 1% that rule.
Hey yeah, just like the Nazis.

Crocuses….? Expect drooling, nausea, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, likely seizures and even death…. entire plant is very toxic to humans…. but if you can’t tell a crocus from a radish, how would you know???

Of course, if you’re transiting the desert, the prickly pear cactus’s leaves are quite edible, as long as you remove the spines. Of course, if you don’t know anything about plants (garden veggies or otherwise), you won’t know that the carrot fronds (tops) are just as edible as the root, but a bit more bitter. Might add some snappy flavor to a stew.

The problem with having a garden is raccoons: those masked bandits will steal anything they can get their paws onto and unless you have a dog that will chase them out, they’ll use up your home-grown stuff before you know it. They are the reason fences were invented.

“Fences? We ain’t worried about no steenkin’ fences!”

Yeah that was Florida Coon talking. Never seen a fence those thieving bastards couldn’t get over, under, around, or through. My fault maybe; my swarms of cardinals, woodpeckers, doves, bluebirds, mockingbirds etc. all love them some oiled sunflower seeds in their feeders, and of course so do the damn raccoons. Between them and the tree rats, the birds might get 10% of the two feeders full. I could um, do things to uh, stop them…but wifey says ‘coons and squirrels gotta eat too. Hey, she rescues frogs, lizards, and spiders from the pool too, so I just go to Lowe’s every two weeks for a $17 20lb. bag of National Audobon…

Luckily, out where the prickly pear do grow, raccoons are not a problem. Cottontails, packrats, and birds are. Over the past 20 years, we’ve fortified our garden with chain link, hardware cloth down low, and a net “roof” on poles, and are now virtually predation-free.

Also, the Dear Wife is a whiz at prickly-pear jelly, with and without jalapeno. Uses the fruit, not the pads, so it comes out the color of the fruit you started with: a whole spectrum of purples to choose from, plus yellow.

    Raccoon? Fence?

Damn squirrels trash what they don’t eat. Neighbors and Po-Po get hinky at gun shots. Red-tailed Hawks and hungry feral cats do a nice job. I’ve rather enjoyed watching the local hawks double or triple team the rodents. One flies “point” while the hunter/killer(s) hang back waiting for the tree rat to scamper to the “other side”.

Back in the City, back in the day, I watched the Po-Po chase and bag a homeless “bum” who had stolen from the locals. Now that the imported “transients” have Federal “protected species” designation, I suspect that there wqill be more “home cooking”.

There are a number of .22 caliber air rifles that have muzzle velocities just over 1,000 fps, and cost less than $300 at Wal-mart. For squirrels and Opossums, they’re perfect up to 30 yards. For Raccoon, unless you’re a crack shot I’d say twenty yards…

Waiting for my .22 caliber stamp to come in. LR in subsonic or 1080fps target rounds are quieter than any .22 caliber air rifle.

P.S. Call your state legislators and have them pass a bill declaring your state as a Second Amendment Sanctuary. Surprised Texas and Florida weren’t leading the way.

There was a 22 round with a heavy grain bullet that worked well at subsonic speeds. Aquino made it. Philippines, I believe. Haven’t used it in a long time. Lowe speed, but more energy with the high weight.

What are the velocities of 22L or 22S?
If they’re subsonic from the go, why go to all the trouble of getting a suppressor and tax stamp?

      • April 11, 2021 at 4:15 am
        Henry

Suppressor quiets the gas blast only. If you’re shooting supersonic ammo, the suppressor can’t do anything about the bullet’s mach wave.

      • April 11, 2021 at 4:15 am
        Henry

Oh, to answer the other question, 22 speeds pretty much just span either side of Mach 1.

I’ve got an old, single-shot Winchester and a High Standard revolver that’ll shoot 22S, L and LR. The other two are semiauto and will cycle LR only.
There’s quiet and then there’s QUIET. A friend called me up and said he’d finally gotten some subsonic 9mm in, to come check it out. Those things are ‘movie quiet’.

But that’s only because the Airgun projectiles are a deal lighter than a typical .22 LR.

Seriously, has anybody here watched the series “Utopia?”
I bet there were a lot of red faces at Netflix when they released their American version in 2020, just in time for the very pandemic that the plot almost literally describes, given that it supports the “conspiracy theory” narrative to a T.

Think of all of the Americans who lave lost their lives, or their loved ones’ lives, or lost their jobs, or were damaged in any of so many ways by the invaders sent and brought here by the enemy within and enemy without.
I did not even discuss the damage to the invaders as the enemy within and without has demonstrated an absolutely depraved lack of concern for that which they have done.
