By their friends, yes shall know them. On that basis, I’d vote for Baalzebub over Shrillary, better track record!

    NYIAC,
I wanted to put this into yesterday’s ‘toon, but, too late…. So here, now, for your reading pleasure…..This references back to your architect post……

Not to rain on, or even dampen, your architect parade, but in an area that’s prone to hurricanes, why build a square house with flat walls? Wouldn’t you want to build it rounded, like a turtle shell, or half an egg, to allow the wind and water to flow over and around the building, instead of smacking up against the outside? Pressure……..

A couple of examples of what I mean:
    http://besmartbeready.com/round-%E2%80%9Churricane%E2%80%9D-house.html

DBW, the man said winning design out of 2227 submissions so I’m sure there were circles and domes and subterranean entries, gotta be logic and reason and engineering reasons. As I said there, if he can “engineer” a 100-unit compound adopting this design and adapted for our specific needs, goals, and desires, I’m in.

I also missed getting this in yesterdays comments…

It’s a damn shame that development did not get built. So much potential to save / improve so many lives.

I have had the good fortune to work with some people from Haiti – very good, very smart, very much against the graft and corruption that exists in Haiti. I wonder how many people that would have been helped by those developments and risen beyond their beginnings – especially if local talent had been as big of a part as envisioned.

        What a terrible waste….

People are also culturally acclimated and used to living in rectangular homes.
I have built dome shaped structures that survived when rectangular ones next to them have not sloughed off the hurricane winds as well. Cost is a big factor in so much. We all cannot drive a high end Ferrari, Rolls Royce, or BMW.

      • October 22, 2016 at 10:30 pm

        “What a terrible waste…”

Concrete homes also survivie. Reinforced concrete homes better than concrete.
      Engineers evealuate the design.
As i said the hurricane resistance was category 5. these SIPS design when properly secured and not just laid in place will take a cat 5.
The reinforced concrete pad/floor helps. It also helps in securing the structure to resist an 8.0 earthquake.
Then, Cost. Curves are almost always more costly than straight. The concept is to design common parts that can reduce the cost of production. The flat slabs transport well and efficiently long distance by ship, or short distance by truck. Differences in roofs, direction of home placement, yard placement, street layout, paint schemes, and other bits add to the differences between one area and another. No real cookie cutter stuff while still reducing costs. This is a place we could stay in, yet it is loower cost for various reason. A person I know lost $ million investing in a guy who had a huge office on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach fancy to the gills with lots of flash. That person’s business received a $10,000,000.00 grant and never built a home. A person that I know was convinced to invest $4,000,000.00 in that business. He was a friend of Bill, and he lost it all. The guy took off and left his waterfront Miami Beach home. They indicted him. His houses looked like tin garden sheds and he was trying to get more than twice what we wanted, and we never got any money. We just had superior design, a safe geological location, laid out and surveyed, a production line ready, crews located, local government support, and so much more. We were not going to pay the government massive duty fees. that had not been worked out, but we never got any money. The Clinton’s removed even the chance to impose massive duty fees to feed the government by bringing only small amounts onshore to Haiti, it appears from press reports.

Just building is easy. It is all surrounding that is seemingly impossible.

These disasters and import duties are the elite’s lifeblood. So much of others equipment and supplies were held up in customs for duty payment that it was absurd. Haitian government argued that a non duty paid item was unfair competition to those Haitian businesses who had paid the import duties. So ended many a project. Just stuff like that. Also one medical team arrived with two months diesel fuel that almost all of it dissapeared on the ride to where they set up their temporary hospital. They were out of diesel fuel in 10 days if i recall what was toold to me was left. Then most of them left back for Florida.

The Southwest peninsula of Haiti that Hurricane Matthew passed over as a cat 4 is hell right now. I believe that the US military helicopters and crews assigned there for the emergency have now left. There is no cavalry coming. Death stalks.
      The Clinton’s are fine.
The billionaire who founded and sold Curves is there now using 4 of his aircraft to bring in and distribute food that he personally bought. A different aid group’s aircraft crashed the other day and 4 people helping were lost.
      That is globalism.

Part of a comment of mine yesterday, BEFORE I got on the “Build it here and they will come” kick, but it surely is germaine:

“…a conspiracy (or coincidence) of our own…an outline plan to separate ourselves and our interests from those who would kill us figuratively or literally. Time, place, method, means, communications, administration, etc. But that’s crazy talk, right?”

Build that model compound here, located strategically like Texas…Haiti can never be saved with the means and corruption and agendas the relief industry is made of…and worse is not worth saving period. But the American Republic is, they will pay their own way, and you could be key.

Sounds too much like how Piazza was pitching Front Sight homesteads back in Y2K. Me, I couldn’t see the wisdom in ghettoizing ourselves. Whether you live in an enclave or a concentration camp depends solely on who owns the outermost fence.

      • October 23, 2016 at 8:05 pm

Anything Dr. Pizza is selling, guns, training, ten-weapon ninja master books, or bridges is irrelevant to anything legitimate and the comparison is disingenuous and insulting.

And every free man knows that whether you live in an enclave or concentration camp depends not on his neighborhood but on his mindset, his abilities, and his determination.

But you have to live somewhere; you may choose Chicago or San Fran or a cave. But when it becomes necessary for some of us to throw off our gov and retake responsibility for ourselves and our community, a community of like minds and like abilities, and an infrastructure that lends itself to those needs, will be of utmost importance. And even before that, it would be a heck of a vacation retreat, shooting range, off-roading, bbq…etc.

Build it and they (we) will come. Slam dunk.

News flash: the Chicago Cubs won the NLCS against the Dodgers, final game Cubs 5, Dodgers 0. First time in 71 years that the Cubs have gotten to the World Series.

But that’s not all: This means they will now go up against the Cleveland Indians. Should the Cubs win, it will be the first time they will have done so since 1908.

Such a clash of Titans could mean the end of the world as we know it. But they are NOT taking it for granted that they will win. They know they have to work for it.

I have said before, nothing is cast in stone. Stay tuned.

Hilly does not have an ounce of poetry in her soul or body.
Pain and her affliction of it on others is her reason for existing.
Something as simple as the enjoyment of a 10 year old Tawny port and some dark chocolate with chilies and cherries with a good man would be scoffed at by her.

    Music seeps in,
    a slow romantic
    strum of guitar.
    a contented sigh escapes,
    while your fingers
    finish their play and
    I feel beautifully spent.

    • October 23, 2016 at 10:52 am

Her soul is long sold, her body mostly spent. But poetry can be almost as dark as she is, I’m sure some old master works could be found to describe her masochism and psychoses…maybe Poe? I dunno, I don’t feel like ruining my Sunday by delving into her darkness.

But just parenthetically, your terms of enjoyment seem ripe for metaphor, and actually lend themselves quite well to the Bill and the Beast. Certainly 10 year olds and cherries are up his alley, or rather up theirs. Him being the first black president and them employing BLM’ers and Sharpton et al proves their preference for dark chocolate over vanilla. And of course they’ve been yawing this ship to port and running us in left circles for decades. But if a good man showed his face around there, he would have to be eliminated like so many others, good, bad, or embarrassing.

But neither of them likely ever have or ever will experience the rapture your poetry of love and passion evokes. I remember.

      • October 23, 2016 at 11:08 am

And while it doesn’t rise quite to the level your interlude describes, in a little while my girl and I will head an hour or so up the road to Lakeland for her to browse a few of her favorite stores, we’ll have a good steak and a margarita, and then take the back way home down two lane roads through the green pastures and sod fields of what remains of real Florida around Fort Meade and Wauchula…probably pull over to coax the beautiful Red Angus that one guy grows up to the fence, and a little further down where goats and donkeys play at someone’s pretty little hobby farm.

Today we have a little cool snap, low 70’s and sapphire blue sky that passes in the fla for a crisp autumn day. Beautiful. I’ll open up the sunroof on her little red Benz and crank up the 60’s on 6, and if the planets align we’ll hear this as we cruise:

There was another quote Hillary made.

“When are they going to get those f—ing ree-tards out of here?!”

Those are said to be the infamous words of Hillary Clinton – also known as Arkansas’ “Mother of the Year” in 1984 – when Hillary reportedly grew frustrated that handicapped children weren’t collecting their Easter eggs quickly enough on the lawn of the Arkansas governor’s mansion.

And back to election issues, here in WA State we have some “advisory” votes, i.e. They did things without asking the people and are asking now, but at this point what difference does it make?

    “No.15
Second Engrossed Substitute House Bill 2778
The legislature imposed, without a vote of the people, certain limitations on the retail sales and use tax exemptions for clean alternative-fuel vehicles, costing $2,000,000 in the first ten years, for government spending.

    This tax increase should be:
    [] Repealed
    [] Maintained”

    Just try to interpret that!!

Anyway, two more for Trump in the box, now if that box gets counted, well I can’t say.
