Chris, this is by far the most depressing cartoon in a long time. Between Obama’s appeasement and the worst SECNAV in history my Navy is going to hell in a hand basket. Sad to see the world’s greatest Navy become just another victim of the SJW transformation.

Sad to think some poor bastards will be serving on the USS Gabby Giffords.

Sigh, after this can we get some happy cartoons? You know like at the swimming hole or the excellent outfit Naomi wears when practicing Muslim outreach?

The ammo issue is not new. The problems with the Mark-14 torpedo during WW II are legendary. Oddly enough, In the book “Rising Sun, Falling Skies” in the early months of the Pacific War, the US Navy found that 75% (yes three quarters!) of its 5-inch shells were defective and would not detonate. In combat they found themselves shooting over-sized bullets at armored enemy ships or attacking enemy planes.

I suspected we were in trouble when they named a Seawolf class after Peanut Boy. Somehow, I could never picture a nuc boat named after a POTUS; we generally honor Presidents by naming flatttops after them.

Now I’m sure of it. I just wish Adms. Zumwalt and “Thirty-One Knot” Burke could do a Daniel Webster, is all.

Hell, I’m wondering if Ray Mabus is the “Mabus” Nostradamus mentioned. And I don’t don’t put much stock in that sort of thing. (Though Hawking’s work on y-violation makes me wonder, too.)

The sad reality is that it is, all of it, conceivable and believable, as evidenced by this strip right here and the course this ship of state has taken these last eight…no, dare I say it, twenty-plus years.

The question is, is it reversible, can the course be corrected before we self-scuttle in a sea of self-shame, self-blame, self-hate, and self-denial.

And the answer is, I don’t know.

    • April 17, 2016 at 11:11 am

I doubt it is reversible short of a complete reboot of the republic to a pre-Marbury v Madison state. In essence we need to wipe the boot drive and reinstall a pristine version of the operating system and all applications. Doing that on a personal computer is a long, involved and unpleasant process. Doing it to a country, I fear, will be an even longer, more unpleasant and even bloody task.

I hear you. Two of my uncles served under Patton. One was the guy who drove his field car, in fact. The other one was a Sherman troop CO under then-Col. Creighton Abrams.

They agreed that the only one scarier than Gen. Patton or Col. Abrams was Gen. Bradley. He scared the shit out of the higher ups because he was always up front, half the time commanding with a walkie-talkie (backpack unit) from a “CP” in a ditch alongside the road.

One time Gen. Smith (Walter B.) came up, hunting Gen. Patton. He found him going over some maps with two of his cols. on the hood of the Dodge, with my uncle watching for unfriendlies. Asked Patton where “Brad” was. “Last time I saw him, headed that way”, hooking his thumb in the direction of the FLOT.

About that time “Brad” called back on the radio for arty fire support. Smith wanted to know where he was.

“Watch for the splash, I’ll be just this side of it” was the reply.

Gen. Smith turned a few interesting shades at that.

      Now those were by-God COMMANDERS.

The commanding Officer was the last to leave (and it is rumored) with a devious grin on his face. It’s “USNS” (US Naval Ship) Cesar Chavez, not “USS.” Chavez is a dry cargo hauler operated by Military Sealift Command and crewed by civil service mariners; not a commissioned warship. Big Navy looks down their nose at MSC; MSC looks down their nose at, and doesn’t put nearly enough $$ into, everything they own that’s operated by (non-civil service) contract companies. Just another fine example of government schmucks wanting something for nothing.

Not to defend the Libs, but in fairness it should be mentioned that ships have been named for living Republicans also. The contract for the nuclear aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan was let in 1994 – while Slick was in office?) and Nancy Reagan cristened the hull in 2001. The former President did not attend that ceremony, nor the one where the ship was commissioned due to being in late stage Alzheimer’s.

  • April 17, 2016 at 3:59 pm
    Old Codger

I offer this as penance for defending Libs above.

US Navy welcomes the USS Bill Clinton

The USS William Jefferson Clinton (CVS1) set sail today from its home port of Vancouver, BC.
The ship is the first of its kind in the Navy and is a standing legacy to President Bill Clinton “for his foresight in military budget cuts” and his conduct while president. The ship is constructed nearly entirely from recycled aluminum and is completely solar powered with a top speed of 5 knots. It boasts an arsenal comprised of one (unarmed) F14 Tomcat or one (unarmed) F18 Hornet aircraft which although they cannot be launched or captured on the 100 foot flight deck but form a very menacing presence.

As a standing order there are no firearms allowed on board. The 20 person crew is completely diversified and includes members of all races, creeds, sex, and sexual orientation. This crew, like the crew aboard the USS Jimmy Carter, is specially trained to avoid conflicts and appease any and all enemies of the United States at all costs.

An on board Type One DNC Universal Translator can send out messages of apology in any language to anyone who may find America offensive. The number of apologies are limitless and though some may sound hollow and disingenuous, the Navy advises all apologies will sound very sincere.
The ship’s purpose is not defined so much as a unit of national defense – but instead in times of conflict the USS Clinton has orders to seek refuge in Canada. The ship may be positioned near the Democratic National Party Headquarters for photo-ops and can be used extensively for social experimentation, and whatever other worthless jobs, the ex-commander-in-chief and his wife can think of.

It is largely rumored that the ship will also be the set for the upcoming season of MTV’s “The Real World”.

(The ship was renamed and commissioned USS William J Clinton when someone realized the USS Blowfish was already taken.)
