Sam and Zed are legally married.

    Skye is the fornicator…

Came from fornix, the Latin word for arch. After the gladiatorial games, the girls under the arches were the hookers, so what happened under the arch was fornication with a fornatrix.

I’m probably wrong on this but here goes.

In London many years ago prisoners had a sign outside their cell that stated what they had been locked up for.

If for stealing the sign said; For Stealing
        If for assault; For Assault

Illegal sex acts?? For Unlawful Carnal Knowlege.
It was a lot easier for the guards to write it once they abbreviated it down to four letters that today is a popular slang word.

      • November 17, 2016 at 11:46 pm

Indeed, many may not have known that. Now they do. Good stuff.

It’s from Middle Dutch “fokken” = “poke”, in an obvious metaphor. Dutch and English sailors mingled in port, and many words were exchanged between the two languages.

But my question is: There are Dutch families named Fokker, including the famous aircraft designer and manufacturer. What do they think their name means?

      • November 18, 2016 at 1:21 am
        J

I’ve always heard that, but have never been inspired to look it up until now…

        http://www.snopes.com/language/acronyms/fuck.asp

(Consider the source, but as this inquiry is apolitical…)

The word most likely derives from old Germanic words for “copulate” – “fokken” (Dutch), “fukka” (Norwegian), and/or “focka” (Swedish), with the further note that “fock” means penis.

      • November 18, 2016 at 1:34 am

Also dictionary dot com gives a probable Germanic etymology for it, and debunks the acronym:

I prefer to use the OED for such questions; their online presence has this:
        Origin

Early 16th century: of Germanic origin (compare Swedish dialect focka and Dutch dialect fokkelen); possibly from an Indo-European root meaning ‘strike’, shared by Latin pugnus fist.

I had heard that back in the days when Scottish nobles loyal to the King of England were granted Primo Nocte (first night) with any newly wed women under their rule….FUCK was then derived from “Fornication Under Consent of the King”….probably a myth, but an entertaining one, at that….

      • November 18, 2016 at 5:29 pm
        Pamela

Lucky they were Nobles with a King’s approval. Normally anyone who was caught having sex out of wedlock was required to appear before the Hallmote (village court) and
Leirwite (Fine) was levied. Then you had to deal with the clergy.

    • November 18, 2016 at 11:01 am

I did read some place that this common curse ‘fuck’ is derived from the name of some poor Medieval fellow name Sir John Fukker. If I can find the source again, I’ll include it.
And in case anyone is wondering, Thomas Crapper, a plumber, put his name on every manhole cover in Victorian London, although the use of the word ‘crap’ originated as a Medieval reference to the chaff from threshing grains.

“Jerry: I slept with Elaine last night.
George: Oxygen! I need some oxygen! This is major.
Jerry: I thought you’d like that.
    George: Oh, this is huge!
    Jerry: I know.
George: All right, okay. Let’s go, details.
Jerry: No, I can’t do details.
    George: You wha?
    Jerry: I can’t give details.
    George: No details?
Jerry: I’m not in the mood.
George: You ask me to have lunch, tell me you slept with Elaine, and then say you’re not in the mood for details. Now you listen to me. I want details and I want them right now. I don’t have a job, I have no place to go. You’re not in the mood? Well you get in the mood!”

I am waiting to see what kind of prose Pamela and Delilah can devise for this.

    • November 17, 2016 at 10:29 pm

Okay, this is for you, Grunt GI. My mother wrote this sonnet, published in ‘Bathsheba’ in 1941. I may republish it as a new edition, with some other work of hers that I found in a box of stuff.

      – 24 –

I bring you passion beautiful as dawn.
Passion of flesh that mates with kindred flesh.
Immaculate with beauty that is drawn
From flames that leap, expire, and light afresh.’
I bring you passion of the heart that is
A flame against the dark of loneliness,
That bites far deeper than the deepest kiss,
that pours on wounds the balm of tenderness.
I bring you passion of a hungry mind
Yearning to eat of knowledge that can strip
Truth’s kernel clean of husks that are entwined
About its beauty in a strangling grip.
And you have lit the passion in my soul
Of life itself, that knits all to one whole.

Sam’s day has been magical because she has Zed.

      I felt you…slip in

      didn’t you?
      felt your heat
      mixing with mine
      felt your kisses
      tender feathering
      on cheek, nape and nook
felt your blood race and roar
      trying to keep up…reaching
      for the sweaty sweet treat
      felt you collapse
saying I had worn you out
yet again for the umpteenth time
felt your snore against my neck
as we dozed back off to sleep
felt you leave me with a smile
knowing you could face the day
      because you have me

Yes sir, hence the personal/political quote.

Your second link works fine with a little “copy & paste” action. I actually read the whole article and watched the video of the interview. Nothing major there, she doesn’t like Trump. So what! I don’t like Pepsi. Move along, nothing to see. She definitely didn’t stoop to the level of Mr. grubhub.

And, while I’m at it, Pepsi is from Chicago about as much as Coke is from Atlanta. Headquarters may be there, but bottling plants for both are all over the country.

The article had a group of all the logos of Pepsi’s different subsidies. I have to say, the only ones I might miss are Fritos and Cheetos. I don’t often eat either, but they are good.

      • November 18, 2016 at 11:09 am

ZOOM! That would be the whole point and gist zipping by overhead there Norm.

An OTW female CEO of a fucking (fokken?) junk food company abusing her position and her stockholders with an extended personal/political attack. And it’s an extension of the long-standing hatred and derision of everything conservative/Southern, and embrace/promotion of everything leftist/elitist described in the first link…to the point of sharing their logo with their favorite native son (I know you meant “subsidiaries” logos but “subsidies” is a cool accidental fit).

So it’s ALL ABOUT the headquarters, and nothing about where that flat syrupy bad Coke imitation is bottled or produced.

And it’s a fake news personal/political parody fer chrissake! Like I said, turnabout is fair play, using their own words and methods against them. We need to do a lot more of that, I know I will, even if some just don’t grok it.

        2) Respect me and I’ll love you..not respecting your man is the fastest way to kill a relationship.
        3) Loyalty above all. For better or worse…etc….

Sam has shown these in spades (well maybe not the sammich making, but she has other attributes 🙂

  • November 18, 2016 at 11:16 am

There was a news item last night, something from Stephen Hawking, who has nothing left working for him but his incredible mind.

His prediction is that this planet of ours will, in a thousand years, be empty of humans. And if we want to survive as a species, we need to start seriously looking at colonizing other worlds. (Yeah, Steve, but we have to FIND suitable worlds first, and we are working on it.)

And he’s right: the protests and restlessness and attempts to dominate a population group are typical primate behavior, exacerbated by a sense of a lack of space, no room to expand, etc., but that is a mistake. There is plenty of room to expand.

As long as we’re stuck here with no real room to expand, we will probably continue to see these things happen. However, I do think that giving misguided children like Sam and the protesters their own planets where they have to start from scratch is a REALLY good idea.

We can send them off while we wave goodbye. Then we can go back to making cookies, writing poetry, having a nice lunch of wine, cheese, fresh bread, fruit, ham or beef on the back porch on a lazy summer afternoon.

Good read. Yes. Of course, but. he misses so much and I caste it into the pile of those who would have been happy with Hillary and the destruction that would have ensued. The article has a problem with applying the law. It rejects the use of feelings as a campaign method, but that is the only reason democrats ever get elected. It names the Statue of Liberty as a beacon beckoning people here, yet, it was intended to be a beacon to shine the light of freedom across the world. that freedom across the world was rather dark back then, and still is getting darker. In the last words it recognizes it as a beacon, yet has no clue as to the meaning of the beacon. The article has let go what America was intended to be already. It lacks comprehension of what has occurred. It seems to want the familiarity of the forces that forced us into the pickle that we are in now.
The article names Muslims as just another religion that you are born into for most, like evangelicals or whatever, then he abandons any look at their effects, or what they mean. Christianity is the system that brought about people who banned the slave trade across much of the world. The evil white man, Christianity, and western civilization attempted to end a system endemic across the world in various forms. Those attempting the actions were reviled by “logical” people in their day. The founding fathers are reviled for only setting the seeds of such reform by ideas blasted today as slaver, like reducing the voting strength of slave states by defining slaves as counting a fraction of a vote consideration in the state’s population. It is well written and contains many good ideas, but these appear to be meant to mask his attacks.
interesting words, but be very cautious in believing the analysis on any part included in it.

After getting more than half way through that, I decided I was not seeing anything new. So Canada, if we did NOT want to become Hunger Games District 12; the Leftist agenda we have had running for over 24 years had to be stopped. Is Trump the greatest? No. But Hillery and her supporters Believe she Is. That would have been the final blow.

But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” ~ Mark 10:42-45

Well that does explain the tendency among leftists to be also atheists.

Power is the wage of greatness, and you want me to be a servant and slave? WTF Mark?

Chris, is there some way you can add a “like” function to these comments? Some of these are so good they that they deserve applause, but adding another comment is sort of cluttering.

Nice thing about the recent major victory against globalism and evil. I had some time to look through stuff and found a letter with some teasers from Chris M of DDQ and DD stuff. Whenever it gets here it gets here. I think he is still on last year with me, but that is OK. I am in no hurry. (Unlike… no i won’t say it.)

And as good as comments are, I never liked the applause bar. That is just my opinion, such as it is. I might need a cry room and a binky and blanky with comfort dogs and cats if nobody likes me. (Cue Judy Garland: They like me. They really like me.) I like ideas fighting their way into people’s minds. Maybe I am just difficult? I have heard that before.

I got an extra Skye High package from CM a few weeks ago (he told me on the phone it was because I did a double donation but I still don’t think I deserve that)…anyway, I’ll save it for when I see you next Not Yet.

I like what Petercat said when Trump took FL the night of 11/8…”Yippee Ki Yay Mother Fokker” or something like that. I might use that for my “likes”.

Judy Garland said that too? I knew Sally Field went all wacky/weepy with it:
