Dude, you are on FIRE here…a 1A-2A one-two knockout (brilliant!), KO the Koran, two made inalienable, and then, THEN an indictment of every self-blaming, self-loathing, pathetic apologist out there…’sbeautiful, man.

    • May 7, 2015 at 1:33 am

Perfectly said. “My favorite pictures at the exhibit were the chalk outlines on the sidewalk”.

    • May 7, 2015 at 6:03 am

QU the Quran also works! After all it is a QUeer book!

“every self-blaming, self-loathing, pathetic apologist out there” – plus, unfortunately, some groups not like the others…

For the first half of the panel, Ezra Levant raises some interesting points that goes well with today’s cartoon: https://youtu.be/XLq4xFyxi30

Texas is a state of mind

First they came for the cartoonist, because he did partial nudes. But I didn’t care.:-(

Those first two panels are a true work of literary imagery magic. Now to figure out how to condense it down to a bumper sticker. . . . .
“Garland TX put the KO to the KOran”
“Garland TX- two amendments put down two jihadis”.

      Bill of Rights 2
      Jihadists 0

We could only WISH it were the final score

Second two panels. . . . who’s left who wants free speech for all? I know!
White conservative Christian blue collar men with their wives (wifes?) and children, clinging to their guns and Bibles, living in flyover country.

Except that, the five characters in today’s ‘toon check just two or three of those ten qualifier boxes.

Key to that line being “except”. The exception proves the rule, as always. We who check most or all boxes can’t do it without a whole bunch of “exceptionals” from Chris’s list.

Think inclusive, but selective. Anything else will get us four or eight more years of the same, or worse than what we have now. If we survive at all.

    • May 7, 2015 at 1:34 am

“And that’s a bingo”. To borrow yet another line.

Chris – absolutely beautifully said and done.

Private individuals can censor their own speech or the speech of their privately-owned organizations all they want.

Government is not allowed to do so with certain very limited exceptions.

The problem comes in play when the government expands those exceptions to play favorites with certain special interests, which it has been doing, and sorry to burst the bubble but fundamentalist Christians and even other special interests aren’t the big problem. Big government playing favorites is the problem.

I’m with Swansonic and the rest of the folks so far. Nicely said.

I do like what Damon said in the first three panels.

I hope Sam doesn’t try to actually list all of the groups that want to remake the Republic into their version of a democracy.

She should list all of the times the word democracy is used in the Declaration and Constitution. zero

“Censoring free speech” Come with the disappearance of the rule of law, just like in Putin’s Kremlin Mafia Empire…it just precede the collapse of the civilization, like in Rome, Ancien Greeks, Byzantium and modern Greeks…

  • May 7, 2015 at 1:36 am

Do you think this was done as bait, or that was simply a positive side effect?

    • May 7, 2015 at 8:42 am
      JTC

Whether the purpose was to bait or not, that *was* the effect. And as I said in a prior post, it should be repeated all over, over and over. Pay a bounty for the hides, and feed the corpse to the ferals. Okay, okay, not practical, but fun to dream.

Hell, even if the “purpose” was along the lines of the speculation of the wingnut in the next comment, it is irrelevant…the speech -the freedom- is the thing. That’s a concept entirely lost on the long list that Chris enumerates in the bottom panels.

        JTC

Whoops, Chris canned the wingnut, so disregard the “next comment” thing. Still, what he and any others care to speculate as to the “purpose” of the contest, or C. Hebdo, et al, is as I said irrelevant to what Constitutional freedoms are all about.

Two magnificent messages, and that enigmatic item emerges a bit more.
An old tire? Hmm, I imagine more will be revealed. While others are reviled.
And it’s a far too long list of those who revile truly free speech.

Bullies down through history wanted what they wanted. Didn’t matter what it was, they used what means were at hand to obtain it.
Be it power, land, gold, food, all things material, control of other humans for what might give them gratification and pleasure, being worshiped as God, they took it.

Also through time there was something in many forms, which was called school yard justice. Normally brought bullies back down to earth most times. That’s not allowed anymore. The results of that are all the little bullies needing and wanting to exert their influence and views of life on everyone else. You will obey and accept. If not, life will be very unpleasant. Trials will be held in social media and in the streets by roaming bands of brigands. Their mantra is “You owe us…”.

You can’t keep going back to the well for more.
That debt was paid. Many times over.

Wrong answer, rag-breath. Her sole purpose was to practice freedom of speech, in defiance of what is becoming generally accepted practice across the US. Her sole purpose was to show us and the sheeple what true freedom of speech is, in defiance of the Libtard establishment, the Muzzie theocracy, and nay-sayer conspiracists such as yourself.

Now you have two choices. You can continue to come here and make silly remarks and be sniped at, or you can crawl back under your rock. Your choice.

Oh, and in case you’re getting the silly idea that I’m stifling YOUR freedom of speech, wrong again, rag breath. You’re free to say anything you choose. And I’m equally free to rebut your (to me) silly Judenrat notions and dissect them to minced meat.
    Have a nice day. . . .. somewhere else.

    Sir,
You have epitomized freedom in 5 panels, my hat is off to you, pure Constitutional genius. I’m old enough to remember when Sam’s list went after the free speech rights of “crazy” Tail-gunner Joe.
Sen. McCarthy was warning the US of a danger, infiltration by communists. Funny, after the USSR was no more, turns out Joe was right.
Thank the gods for the internet, we no longer are simple sheep led to slaughter, by our “betters”.

        Chris,
I ALMOST (but not quite) wish that you had left the original posting up, so people could see what a “concerned troll” looks like. With a big sign pointing, saying, “THIS IS A CONCERNED TROLL POSTING. PLEASE DO NOT FURTHER FEED THE TROLL.”
But your site, your rules. And I thank you for it.
I personally thought that my response was/is a masterpiece of retort, and looked forward to further battle. But then again, I would almost be repeating Rush Limbaugh’s bromide about “beat them with half my brain tied behind my back” (the very definition of a Libtard and a muzzie, half a brain, fueled by emotion, not thought).

      • May 7, 2015 at 9:10 pm
        Delilah T

Libtard and muzzie – combined, they have only half a brain between them: the primitive reptilian brain, which responds only to three drives: reproduction, hunger and thirst. All else is ‘not done’ and must be destroyed because it doesn’t smell right.
Carpenter bees are smarter than those two biological species.

It’s the same people that urge to tolerate infibulation as “traditional ways of life”in islam…in days of the past, they would have “urged” to tolerate cannibalism…
Speaking of which, is it not interesting how their buddies of “La Raza” excuse

I was listening to a WW II Army Air Corps vet recount some of his exploits over Europe during WW II and he made a comment that applies to the troll presence here.

He said “when the flack gets heavy you must be over the target.”

IMHO You should wear the troll’s attention as a laurel as you send them down the chute to oblivion.
    You Are “hitting the target.”

    Well Done Chris.
