Let’s hope Zed ‘n Red have their seatbelts on… Alas poor Charger…

• David M

Dear God, please protect Zed & Sam!!!!:Your faithful servants.

• Mark C

Powerful. Please let Zed and Sam be alright

• Arby

Before anyone says they built cars tougher back then and that they withstood more damage than a modern car could take, think about this – a modern car sacrifices itself to protect its occupants. For an older car, all you have to do is straighten some sheet metal and hose the remains and blood off the dash and it is ready to roll again for its new owners.

• Beautiful, if entirely implausible sequence.

Another casualty of illegal immigration; hopefully only the car.

• Greg B

“Damn you! Damn you all to Hell”

And notice how unconcerned the walkers are. In fact, the woman looks downright indignant.

• Ryk E Lee

That’s the message I got from this as well. Indignant entitlement.

• SoCal Stoli

Dunno about indignant – I’m thinking shocked. She’s covering the kid’s eyes to keep him from seeing whatever she’s looking at…which CANNOT be a good omen for our dynamic duo.

• SoCal Stoli

Hmmm…on second look – maybe she IS indignant, after all – Sam’s flipping la migranita the bird for allowing the future Dreamer to cause the wreck of a perfectly nice car…and THAT’S why the kid’s eyes are covered.

• Spin Drift

Talk about an “oh shit” moment. I didn’t see any flying body parts so maybe bumps and bruises. Nice of the wetbacks to check on the survivors and I’ve never prayed for cartoon characters before but damnit they’re family.

Spin Drift
Hold Fast it’s been a bumpy ride.

• Kuhn

I do wonder that if a similar situation were to present itself in real life whether or not typical entitled 3rd world escapees/undocumented Democrat voters would have stopped to render aid as a sign of their common humanity? Especially if a citizen placed themselves in harms way so as to avoid running over one of their larvae?

• Olddog

Probably would check the car for anything they could take with them.

• Keith

There was a recent case here where a woman rolled her car and was trapped in it, hanging upside down. Guy stopped, got her out of it, handed her her purse, went back to his car saying he was going to call 911 and then just drove off and left her which is when she discovered he’d taken her wallet with all of her money, credit cards, and ID.

• Bill

The worst thing about this strip is that they would react in exactly that way. Except the mother would be cursing out the car’s driver for almost killing her kid.
I work with these people, so yeah, that’s how they would react.

• Bastards. You are correct.

• Doc Epador

If they stopped it would be for salvage of non human stuff ignoring the occupants of car.

• Bill G

Exactly my thought. They wouldn’t just walk away, they’d see what they could take, unless the occupants were moving.

• Sol

Hopefully Z&S are armed – they could pick-off those five beaners and nobody would know…

Myself: that brat would have been roadburger, it and anything that ran to scrape it up.

• Wow…

Very, very powerful.

• The only thing I could say when I saw this one is Oh Dear God, not Sam and Zed are OK or at least reasonably uninjured.
The car can be replaced and repaired, especially my Sam. She’s amazing.
I will cry if those two don’t make it…
I swear, I will cry… I’ve known them for years.
Great one Chris, great toon…

• Chris? Christopher Muir, WHAT THE FUCK HAVE HOU DONE??
Jesus, Mary and Joseph!!

• Unca Walt

There It Is.

• As soon as I got my breath back, I’d be hunting me some wetback.

• Kafiroon

I know that particular land barge wallow all over the road if it changes from a straight line, but go airborne? Nah. In truth, the kid would be flat.
Still, Impressive art.

• H_B

He’s not that tall to begin with and he was bent down. I can see it catching about three feet of air in a rotation around center-of mass at-speed, then clipping a tail corner and angling up (third panel, left) before continuing to tumble.

• H_B

I can also see Sam sitting in a hospital bed trying to mathematically reconstruct how the car got from vector A to vector B without intersecting unmonitored crime accessory C (illegal toddler).

• NotYetInACamp

A natural American reaction to not hit somebody, especially a kid in the road, even to the extent of endangering one’s own life.

The invaders normal lack of concern for all but themselves. I have seen that. Clash of civilizations, using civilization loosely.

Great people Legacy Americans being sacrificed and replaced by slave Ascendent Americans. Democrats are bringing in slaves to their plantation where Republican establishment types engage in crony socialism monopolies using the Democrat provided slaves.

Obama invited them. Obama is acting outside of the laWla. ….

The car crossed over them, where it would have been best if it crossed into them.

These are invaders and by the dicta iin Wang vs United States Supreme Coutrt (1898) all of them and their entourage and any children born anywhere never become citizens no matter any papers recieved, and must be expelled.

This is part of the invasion army sent by all of those nations to plunder and occupy and conquer the USA.
Zed and Sam are now war casualties. Among the wounded all hope.
Hopefully an American or a concerned human will find them, then stop and help.

All of the border crossers are invaders and part of the enemy armies.
This is war and

• Bren

No real frame in that Charger, just unibody. Of course, Sam. Prolly has a pretty stiff suspension. Check the windshield. No starbursts means they’ve probably survived. It’s the windshield that kills you in those kinds of crashes.

• timothy

OMG! I cringe at the outcome. Shock at the crash…and more shock at the disinterest of walkers. Powerful! I do heavy duty Northeast traffic every day and see a lot of this, but, not all of them. Chris, gotta get a defillabrator, be right back, tomorrow! 🙂

• Bill G

Roll over is the Obola official policy.

• Well, we need those illegal immigrants to do the things Americans increasingly won’t do.

Emphasis on “voting Democrat.”

• Bill

Amen Chris, amen. With three words you’ve nailed it.

• Boobie the Rocket Dog

Initially thought the kid was black and I didn’t get it.

• Otto Didact

Great work, Chris but dammit! Now I gotta wait yet ANOTHER day to see how Sam and Zed are.

BTW, I’ve been in a rollover in almost an identical car – Roadrunner. An event like that is entirely survivable – IF they were belted in.

But, still, Chris, damn your eyes for keeping us in suspense another day/night. Gotta say I never expected edge-of-your-seat suspense in a political strip. Truly incredible work Mr. M. YOU STILL DA MAN.

• Randy

As others have stated “Powerful.” (Stands and claps slowly…)

• Coarsehair

Ditto. My thoughts exactly

• John D, Egbert

Me, too . . .

• 55six

My first car in 1986, was a 1969 Charger, B7 green with white vinyl top. It broke my heart when I sold it, this hurts my feelings too.

• Chris Muir

My Mom’s car was a red ’69 R/T , but my Dad totaled it just 3 years later. He was OK, though!

• BlaxPac

Chris, I figure you have a pacing for the strips and you have a showmans touch for keeping your audience riveted…I refer to the strips when were led to belive that Jan may have been killed when her KrautBug was stolen…

But for God’s sake, PLEASE don’t keep us waiting 4-5 days for the outcome to this! It would crueler than 8 years of a narcissistic Community Organizer and his band of Marxist zilch’s!

• Chris Muir

To be honest,I wing it from day to day…I have to go figure out Sunday’s toon now…:)

• BlaxPac

ARRRRGGGGHHHH!

LOL- But seriously, I’ve enjoyed the strip for years now, and you’ve kept the series fresh and entertaining for just as long.

Two really important question I always wanted to ask (which I’m sure you’ve heard 1000x before)..

1) Would you or have you been approached to make a live action version of DbD? There is a dearth of Conservative leaning shows and with the advent of alternative broadcasters (Amazon/Hulu/Netflix) or even as a webcast, I think the show would be a hit, and definitely worth the cost of paying for the stream!

2) Is there any chance that Damons backstory be fleshed out more? Other than being an orphan with a knack for coding and business ventures, we know precious little about him!

Either way, TY again so much for the strips!

• Ya bastuhd… 😉

• pool dog

methinks I have a subject for my Sunday toon now…

• Jon

Just…. Damn!!!

• Alex J

Enter Stage Left: the Scavengers to pick over the bones & take whatever they can.

Up next, Adventures in Obamacare. Wait until all the Illegals undocumented democrats have been treated… Do you have guns in your home?

• Pamela

Knowing how many times certain someones have tried to take Zed out of the picture, I’d say there is bullet resistant glass and structural reinforcement in the car.

• Chris Muir

close.

• KenH

Call me a mean spirited bastard…. but if I could get out, I’d kneecap every goddamned one of those scum

• John Greer

You are letting your emotions rule your mind.
_We_ would have to pay the medical bills, and they would still be in the country.

• B Woodman

Not if it was in the middle of nowhere. Kneecapped, I don’t think they’d make it to civilization. Just more desiccated bodies in the desert.

• KenH

Would you prefer 2 in the back of the head each? Just to be Cartel-spec, now……

• Rick

It was also called the Charge Dodger.

• KathyP

Don’t know when I’ve ever been as disturbed by a cartoon as this one. The illegal alien crisis explained fully and completely in 5 frames.

• That a flag madre has draped over her? Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatamala, El Salvador? The Texas border ain’t just for Mexicans anymore.

• steveb919

Well Crap!

• Solaratov

Oh, shit! That’s a powerful message, Chris….and with no words, it says it all.
Of course, now I have to worry about Sam & Zed until tomorrow – or whenever. DO NOT keep us hanging too long. Those characters are family to us.

• Dastardly Dan

First, I don’t believe for a minute that Chris wings this from day to day.
Second, I wonder if this story arc is being used to gauge the deep sentiment of DbD readers regarding illegals and entitlement mentality.
I agree with many commenters, these characters are more like family to me than most of my family, and events like this affecting family cut through all the societal barriers to the raw emotion inside us all.
At my stage of life, I would tend to identify with Wade regarding Zed and Sam. If harm came to them from this, the stench from the rotting corpses along the border would last for a decade.

• Insomniac

Muir, you magnificently manipulative bastard!

• Glenn

I cannot believe how upset I am over a toon! Damn!

• cb

Do I hear the chopper coming to lift them out? Does center hombre have a weapon? — Emotional situation indeed, Chris, great work as always.

• Jack in Phoenix

This scene is from the Interstate 8 of my night thoughts.

How many dozens of times have I roared to and from paradise by the ocean along that highway – while I have not seen those “unseen” beneath the culverts, behind overgrown ironwood thickets or roadside signs?

I’ll rest my head a little now and ponder: Could it be, one day soon, that a helo from The Donald will swoop in and drop a net on such people as these “hikers” crossing I-8? Could such a thing ever happen?

Oh, I doubt it. It runs counter to my experience of nearly 70 years of living. It just does.

I hope our cartoon heroes emerge from this ‘fracaso’ more or less intact.

• H_B

I don’t think it will take that. 1) Let law enforcement inquire about immigration. 2) Prosecute business owners who use illegal labor. 3) Put some extra hurdles/fees/bureaucratic-paperwork on sending money back home to Mexico and Central America. 4) Get some footage on the evening news of armed drones taking off to help watch the border (they don’t have to shoot anything, ever – just put it in people’s minds that Trump can’t be shamed and just might be crazy enough).

The problem will completely solve itself inside of six months with no “net” or wild-eyed “internment camp” required.

• Pete in NC

H_B, If memory serves me, when we sent less than 100 National Guardsmen to the border to help install the surveillance gear there was a dramatic drop in invasions. It seems they thought that the Guard was regular Army and that they would react to aliens the way the Mexican Army did at THEIR southern border, which is pretty violent. Maybe some more of that would also be part of our toolkit. Also no more of this running them through the court system – just ship them back.

• H_B

That would help too, though would be more expensive.

I forgot to add 5) hold municipal “sanctuary city” governments accountable for their actions. Seriously, we don’t have to “round up and ship out” millions of illegals. They will self-deport as soon as the red welcome mat is no longer there.

• B Woodman

Chris, you miserable &&&%%^@!!! piece of )()()(%%!!!!&&&%%$. Damn you!!
I guess I’ve had my exercise for the day what with the elevated breathing and heart rate. You’d BETTER make this right in tomorrow’s strip.

“We Just Rollover”
I’m going to re-write that to “We Just Roll Over”
And add, but we don’t play “dying cockroach” just yet. No. We get back on our feet and continue the fight.

We’ve used the soap box (and Chris, you’re doing a wonderful job, keep it up).
We’ve used the jury box, with no discernible effect on the justice system at the moment.
W’ve used the ballot box, and look what it’s gotten us. A bunch of GOPe/RINOs. We may not have time enough to elect new conservative leadership before the fit hits the shan.
All that’s left is the cartridge box. Are you ready? Are you prepared? Physically and mentally? For you, your family, and the Constitution?

• Jeff Talbut

Well THIS certainly took an unexpected turn…(as ever, Zed’s friend/cousin/long lost brother..step or otherwise… “T.J. Strong” is ready willing and available to step in and host the Longshot Bar, drop a dime and I’ll be flyin’. “Have Grin will Travel”)

• Ed

Getting a feeling for how much your readers are tied up in the DBD family, Chris?

• B Woodman

One reason this strip scares me is that I had a similar accident a few years back, rolled a ’98 (or was it 96?) Toyota Tacoma p/up, little thing. Just one roll, and landed back on the wheels. Not going into details, other than no one hurt, but NEVER want to do that again. Never.

• Heywood

Let me join the chorus praising the aptness of this metaphor.
It would be more accurate if it showed the spike strip placed in the road by some cynical exploiter type.

• Bunkerbuilder

There is no way the USA can go on accepting the invasion of over 2 million legal and illegal immigrants a year with out ending the Era of individual freedom and wealth.

4 % of the World can’t take the refuse of the other 96% without ending as a failed Nation State. Civilized States NEED borders to survive invasions by Barbarians

• Ward Gerlach

What’s really disturbing, to me at least, is that no one, I mean NO ONE ever calls out the governments of Mexico/Guatemala/Venezuela/etc for being so damned incompetent and/or repressive that their own citizens will risk death in the desert to escape.

No one – and certainly not the MSM.

• Edjamacator

One of the very worst things about these alien parasites is that they know their own countries are crap. That’s what motivates them to leave it and come here. But then they have such pride for said country that it nearly acts as their total identity, and then they support Democrat scum who would help turn THIS country into the one they just left because it was so bad.
There’s something to be said for genetics and associated intelligence. And it’s not a good link for those of darker hue.

• LifeofTheMind

I call moby troll on this filth. Odds are some script kiddie from DU or Koss or LGF puts this out to discredit us.

• interventor

Mercedes passed me on the autoroute to Paris at 120 plus. Later saw it upside down in a field. Driver wentry thru the windshield and was beheaded. Passenger hit the windshield sideways and lost most of her brains. Wear seatbelts.

• J.M.

Saw this happen down in Arizona a LOT. There have even been incidents where kids were put in the road to stop traffic as part of attempted carjackings.
