“Individually, we do not bear arms because we are afraid. We bear arms as a declaration of capacity. An armed man can cope – either in the city or in the wilderness – and because he is armed, he is not afraid.

The hoplophobe fears and, yes, hates us, because we are not afraid. We are overwhelmingly “other” than he, and in a way that emphasizes his afflictions.”

“Precious moments” means something different to men than it does to the ladies.

It is good to remember your father.

Mine asked me one day when I was in (hated) 4th grade if I wanted to go to school… or go fishing with him.

It was the day I caught my first fish. A bergall.

Yes and no. My real father left when I was six. I will carry the emotional and physical scars from the stepfather forever and I’m 72. The only thing I really learned from him was what not to do when I had a son. I was adopted by my stepfather and I never figured out how to undo that so I carry a last name that I hate.

I’m sorry Chris, this is just so totally off of such an important line but…

Well ever since his hard-won seat on the court for which we had such high hopes and even created a name-sake, I have been horribly disappointed in his following the Roberts school of virtual RINOism which I attributed to the criminal feminist persecution of his past resulting in his (barf) virtue signalling. And that has been true. BUT now, when the case that may define the future of any semblance of a Republic comes up, he NAILS it…

      And more…

Jack Smith never legally appointed? Justice Thomas raised the crucial question about legitimacy of special counsel’s prosecution of Trump. (Jack Smith was a private citizen when AG Garland appointed him as special counsel to investigate Trump in 2022, was never nominated by the president or confirmed by the Senate at any time.) https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/4234103/posts

I’ve done quick-draw competitions with actual people by loading a primer in a case, no powder, and putting a foam earplug on top. revolvers only. range of about 20 feet. bounced off bare skin without even a welt.

later on one of our instructors said “you did what? don’t EVER do that!”

meh. it was fun.later we used those .50 crossman paintball revolvers, but it wasn’t the same.

    ah, the ’80’s were a wonderful time…

We learned on a film set that blanks or ‘play loads’ aren’t always ‘play loads’ and the judge doesn’t care what you ‘thought’ was in the weapon.
We had an incident in Afghanistan where two well trained young privates were playing ‘quick draw’ in a tent with Brownings…one was court martialled, the other was buried.
They make replicas that can’t fire ‘live’ ammunition for just such a purpose.
Or join a ‘fast draw’ club and square off against the timer to see who’s faster.

Chris, this is off-topic, but did I miss an announcement about Holy Tera? Apparently I did, since I thought it was going to be the regular Sunday strip.
I checked what I had as the website, but dont see anything there.
    Thanks.
