    The two sorts of situations in which this sort of violence generally breaks out are;

    1. The self-anointed “superiors” believe that they can get away with anything. (Ex; France- The Terror; Red China- Cultural Revolution/ Red Guards)

    2. The self-anointed “superiors” are suddenly confronted by the realization that they are in danger of losing their power, and panic. (Ex; Russia 1991, Northern Italian fascist state 1945.)

Depending on which type it is, the result can be either a bloodbath- or a lot of formerly powerful “morally superior” types facing the bar of justice.

Or getting what Benito Mussolini and Clara Petacci got.

    “Before the fall”?

    I don’t know.

Habeas corpus guarantees the right to be brought before a judge to challenge unlawful detention, but the current situation does seem in line with Constitutional provisions and limits to suspend habeas corpusstating only when there is a rebellion or invasion, and the public safety demands it.

The invasion by all accounts has already happened; if LA is the fuse and the primary explosion is coming, that sure qualifies as a rebellion, \

Slippery slope to be sure, and to be avoided at almost any cost. Almost.

Doesn’t help that its most famous invocation was at the hand of arguably the most evil figure ever to hold the office of the President, and for reasons then that were quite certainly not within the framework of the Constitutional provisions. But it is a legitimate and powerful tool to consider to save the Republic. And it does come down to trust. Do we trust DJT with it?

Is it just me, or does the scar make Kiko sexier?

I have a weakness for redheads, but Mari’s Cornflower Blues are what I drown in.

But then, I’m a face man, not a breast man…

    Nitpick:
Often misquoted, it’s actually “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18.

Not a nitpick, restated for accuracy.

The common quote though that “pride goeth before a fall” does more accurately express what can happen to good and bad alike when Constitutional power is placed in the wrong hands. Like all of its provisions it is subject to gerrymander.

Hence the warning from Sam (Chris) to heed the Bible, the Constitution, and our step on this very slippery slope.

To be fair, it’s quite possible to come up with an original adage that isn’t a straight copy of the Bible or Shakespeare but has similar words.

That and the ‘pride goeth before a fall’ bit is technically accurate, it’s the Readers Digest condensed version of the Biblical passage with a few words cropped out. 😉

Destruction works for me since they claimed a whole month, painted streets, buildings, and got big businesses to change logos.
If I recall, there were a number of J6 people that never saw a judge and were beaten in prison also.

Given the selection of judges available to them in DC, those might actually have been the lucky ones.

There will come a point in time when the righteous indignation of people who have endured enough oppression boils over into white hot rage. Once that trigger point is reached, the self-appointed elites will become targets, with no quarter asked or given. The resulting blood bath will be epic in proportion and the aftermath will shape the face of our nation for decades. That’s going to be a good thing, to my decidedly biased point of view!

Setting a good example… IMO: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gave drivers the green light to strike protesters who take to the streets against President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

The Republican governor and erstwhile GOP presidential candidate told conservative podcaster Dave Rubin that motorists would not be held liable under state law for hitting protesters blocking roadways when they’re afraid for their own lives, reported The Daily Beast.
