Oh Sam. *shakes head* I’m making two types of pierogies, homemade polish sausage, cabbage rolls, and fresh rye rolls. Already did the apple tart and lemon pie.

    War Pig

I’m doing hickory smoked wild boar ham (we shot it in September), some smoked salmon, cornbread dressing, sage dressing, scalloped oysters, scalloped corn, scalloped potatoes, pumpkin and chocolate pies (from scratch), asiago mac & cheese, yeast rolls, cabbage rolls with sweet or hot Italian sausage (pick your favorite) and candied yams (sweet potatoes). We made our own eggnog this year since nobody’s driving and we let the liquor cook the eggs for us in the nog. GF and me began prep the 23rd, got it all ready for the ovens in the morning while presents are being opened. Good thing we’ve got two refrigerators. Time to go to bed and dream of sugarplums and the .45 long Colt Henry weatherproof Big Boy rifle I think the GF bought me for Christmas, to match my .45 long Colt Ruger stainless revolver.

From the looks of it, Sam deep-fried “launched” the dinner turkey into LEO (Low Earth Orbit). Yes, it may eventually return to earth…….downrange………somewhere…….but somewhat freeze-dried from the journey (if it survives the re-entry).
Sam, I think NASA and the military may want to talk to you.

In the meantime, Merry Christmas to all you Deplorables. And be safe out there. I’d rather see you, than view you.

You know I wonder what condition a Frozen turkey would be in after you put it in a reentry trajectory from LEO?

I think you would need something hotter than boiling oil. A decent proper caliber to the turkey barrel and a nitrogen frozen turkey.
Nah, it would be shredded before it made it out of the barrel.
Going to have to think more on this one.

I used to attend Punkin’ Chunkin’ religiously. Good old boys not quite disintegrating pumpkins while accelerating them and downrange. I’m pretty sure they weren’t allowed to freeze them though.

After Sister’s huge Christmas Eve dinner (tamales with Wolf Brand Chili and cheese, beer braised pulled chicken in mole sauce in tortillas, Hatch green chili cheese grits, green salad, pumpkin pie and apple strudel, washed down with sangria), we’re not about to add to that.

Starting the day in our jammies (mine are Star Trek), with hot cocoa and Christmas music to accompany opening the gifts. Breakfast is white chocolate cherry or English walnut or chocolate povitica with more cocoa.

For Christmas dinner, we’re having antipasti: a variety of cold meats and cheeses, stuffed olives, artichoke hearts, a wide variety of pickles, marinated mushrooms, crackers, artisan breads, brotchen (German rolls), and whatever else we find in the refrigerators, with the wine of one’s choice.

Y’all have a Merry Christmas, too.

I’m fixing shepherd’s pie (very easy, requires only a little ingenuity in the sauce), fresh vegs on the side, and cheesecake for dessert. Hot cider with lemon slices while waiting.

Can’t say it often enough: Merry Christmas to one and all, and a good New Year.

    So, OUTSIDE this year?
M C to all that apply.
Time to crank up the tractor and go take care of the FIRST shift- in relocating the FIRST 4-5 inches, of this Antro-global warming event in New England.
*sigh* Now that I’m old, I WISH I’d got new long underwear under the tree!

My grandbabies say push that 4-5 inches on down here to central FL…76F today and this is a short cool snap, back to mid-80’s later this week. 🙁

    Too Tall

Sam and her deep fried turkey, or perhaps ANY holiday meal, are well on their way to becoming as iconic a pair in comics as Lucy holding the football in Peanuts.

Perhaps a DBD spin-off game of “Where in the Universe is Sam’s Deep Fried Turkey.

Or it’s own webpage on the NORAD Tracker, to deconflict it from Santa’s sleigh.

Merry Christmas and a happy, safe, prosperous, Make America Great New Year to all.

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them. ~ Luke 2:15-20

Merry Christmas to all Day by Day characters, author, and followers. It is not the beginning of the end of the conflict but may be the end of the beginning. Our President is playing the long game against a multifaceted foe, but every step is positive and he builds on success.
