If, Virginia kicked out about four counties in the north. The rest might be saved. There dwell the rich men north of Richmond. Also referred to as the beltway bandits.

Same with Illinois – Chicago and a couple other big cities ‘blue up’ the whole state.

States need electoral colleges as much as the nation does, and for the same reasons: to keep high population areas from ruling everything; to have a republic rather than a democracy.

Unfortunately two SCOTUS decisions created the imbalance between the cities and suburban, semi-rural, and rural areas, creating de facto tyrannies of the majority where the urban areas controlled the states. If Reynolds v Sims and Baker v Carr could be reversed, or the appropriate legislation/constitutional amendment to restore the balance as it exists at the Congressional level.

State Senates became nothing more than another House or Representatives where representation was based upon population rather than areas which made the Senates then nothing more than a ‘super’ House. This gave the metro areas a solid majority and the rest of each state became nothing more than serfs ruled by the cities.

Restoring the balance as it was in the past would help the non-metro areas regain some balance.

Of course the likeliness of that happening are two – slim and none.

Like the West coast. The county-by-county they are mostly red, except for a few population- dense blue counties that control the government.

Stop sending the trucks. Their priorities will change real quick. Blue cities are only ever 3 days away from eating themselves.

I don’t know about now, but NY state was that way once too. Unfortunately, the city rules the state. In fact, if you pull the crime stars from the ten largest cities of the USA and only consider what’s left, the remaining USA has very little crime or murder, or gun violence. At least it was that way before the late democrat induced invasion.

This is why they want to get rid of your Electoral College, so a half dozen states can overrule the other 40+.
It’s also why up here a political party only needs two ou tof ten provinces to hold a majority government. The city of Toronto alone has more seats than most other provinces and Montreal and Vancouver aren’t far behind. They’re pumping ‘immigrants’ into those cities by the million assuming they’ll vote liebral…several times each.

I’ve thought that states need an Electoral College type voting system for years. NYC, Chicago and a few other major population centers are destroying otherwise same states.

Coloring in those scales as red/blue counties, wonder what ol’ Ben would say about that snake? Probably something like, “You could’t keep the Republic even with a vast majority of land and assets? You idiots deserve to be eaten!” And he would be right.

Did crooked politicians suddenly get bulletproof? Although, a bunch of rotting corpses in congress wouldn’t stink much worse than what’s there already!

Maryland might be a red state if it wasn’t for Prince George’s, Montgomery and Baltimore counties, and Baltimore city. Those 4 jurisdictions control the other 23 counties…dammit.
