    Ain’t nobody in the driver’s seat right now. They’re all fighting for the controls while the car/truck/train/ship/plane just keeps moving along. Until there comes a bump….. or canyon…. or tsunami…..

      They all just want the ‘status quo’ where half the taxmoney and all of the graft goes straight to their pockets making them millionaires in months on a politician’s ‘salary’. it doesn’t matter who’s driving, they just want to ride in the back with the cash.

    “Sentence them to classes on the Constitution, the Bill of Rights.”

    A psychopathic criminal who was in prison took the ‘Dale Carnegie’ course that teaches you “How to Win Friends and Influence People”.

    The warden and guards hoped that he would learn how to get by in society without committing crimes.

    Instead, he used the course to learn how to manipulate people using psychology, rather than physical force, to compel them to obey.

    His name was Charles Manson.

    I fear that sending politicos to attend civics classes would have the same result.

    Start with the Declaration of Independence. Lean into the part about “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it.”

    Which one of them was it who scoffed at the idea that Founding Fathers like Jefferson and Adams would revolt against the government?

    The problem is that government unions are electing pliable politicians to Congress and the White House. In this way, they are able to vote themselves more money.

      That’s why it was a mistake to allow government unions. Even FDR and labor leader George Meany, the first president of the combined AFL/CIO, understood that government unions were inherently corrupt. Then JFK made them legal by executive order and Congress backed that up with legislation a few years later.

      It was one of the biggest mistakes ever made as it led to the very corruption that FDR and Meany warned about.

        Which of course points up the very reason we have the Constitution we have.
        The Liberal mindset is that people are inherently good or can by persuaded to be so. This is the basis for the European Enlightenment, which subsequently gave us Communism, Fascism, and Globalism.
        The Conservative mindset assumed the people are inherently evil and gave us the Scottish Enlightenment, which subsequently gave us the US Constitution, which may well have saved at least this corner of civilization.
        But Good and Evil are not heritable, they are value judgements.
        The ancient Greeks probably nailed it in their myth of the creation of Man.
        The Fire that Prometheus stole from the Gods was nothing less than the ability, nay the compulsion, to change our environment to serve us. It is the source of the child’s innocent forays into the realm of both good and evil, which in turn leads the Adult into Corruption or, by way of Learning (often the hard way), into Good Will.

        When I was in ROTC, this was described as “Theory-X and Theory-Y”.
        “Y” assumed people would do the right thing without supervision or coercion; “X” assumed people are inherently lazy and require constant supervision.

      DBD women use a special sunscreen that prevents any splatter landing on their exposed parts. They also use it on the shooting range to avoid hot brass, and while swimming to thwart mosquitos. And on the trunk of a Caddy. (Was that really back in 2023?) For DBD readers it’s a FEATURE, not a bug.

    I dunno. I’m more of the “The flogging/keelhauling/draw and quartering” will continue until legislation and administrative actions respect The Constitution, Bill of Rights and Will of the properly documented Citizens.
