I can DEFINITELY confirm that!!!! In all the years I drove limos, some of my clients looked like this and I would take them to clubs that made the Mos Eisley cantina look positively NORMAL!!!!
In this day and age, I still can’t understand why anyone would want to limit themselves to 8 rounds of .45, and only 7 in a reload, when they can have 16 9mm, and 15 per reload, full of HSTs or Gold Dots.
Was at a training class once, one of only two 1911’s in the class. Instructor had some silly high round count drills and had divided us into 4 person teams by our “dot torture” scores. Then announced, ” those two teams that got the 1911’s, if you are thinking you are handicapped as a team because of their capacity, you are not. You will likely find they don’t need high capacity guns”. And we didn’t.
Personally, carry what you shoot well and will carry everyday. For me that’s a Colt.

Get a G20, you can feel the same way about 10mm, or a G29 if you don’t mind the mag sticking out a bit after the reload. 😉

I find double-stack unwieldy to handle. Single-stack 1911 fits just fine . . .

Because when you shoot something with a .45 it stays shot and when you shoot something with a 9mm it often debates the point ?
I’ve found over the years that with fewer shots available you subconsciously tend to aim a little finer instead of missing as fast as you can.
When we switched from .38 revolvers to 9mm autos, the failure rate for annual qualification went from almost unheard of to almost half, partly for that reason and partly because the bureaucrats buggered up what should have been a very nice sidearm, to the point that H&K had to make a special run of double action only with the trigger set as hard as possible, it was at least 16lbs, very likely more and wildly inconsistent from gun to gun, overall the worst trigger I’ve felt on any auto.
For the ‘Han shot first’ argument, it’s not the first shot that wins, it’s the first hit. and I always answer “doesn’t matter, Han hit first” 🙂

Completely true story…..seriously!!
Several years ago I got stopped at around 0430 coming back to Orlando from Jax. Cruise control wasn’t working, I was tired and my foot got a bit heavy. The FHP trooper was very nice & respectful and when he asked me if I had any weapons I told him: “1911 .45 with 2 spare mags.”
Trooper: “Where is it?”
Me: “Here”
Trooper: “A 1911 .45 and 2 spare magazines…….Sir, what are you afraid of??”
Me: Trooper, not a f***ing thing!!” (I can’t believe he actually gave me that straight line)
He laughed, shook his head told me to be careful, slow down and get home safely and turned me loose. The look on his face was priceless!!! 😀 😀
Read Heinlein’s “The Number of the Beast”, and try to figure out where Minerva is hiding her heat, along with several candy bar facsimiles!
(Hint: She’s dressed for a day at the Swimmin’ Hole!)
“You can’t miss fast enough to win a gunfight”- – – – – – -“A 9MM is a toy for a boy who can’t shoot a man’s gun” The only thing better than a 1911 is a hot handload in a .45 Colt.
The roar of a 45 in an enclosed space is an intimidation factor all of it’s own. In my young and more foolish days in the frozen tundra, I would join the hordes “sighting in” the deer hunting rifles. Local was a rock quarry. The sound of a 300 Mag. would have everyone flinching and even missing the target completely. Even better was under lights and the muzzle flash was entertaining.KK

O-M-G! Well said, Sam, well said!
I don’t remember any of my acid trips ever being that bad.
“Sam shot first”?
In some places, what Chris drew is not an exaggeration. That, is what’s scary.

“Hands Off”?
Alrighty then.
A memorable scene from the movie Crossing Delancey:

While nothing probably beats having a good blaster on your hip (H/T Han Solo), a 1911 with several extra mags is a good second choice.

But that’s just me…

And tacking on Burt Reynolds reply in “White Lightning”:
“What are you afraid of?”
“Nothin’ ‘cept women and the PO-leece.”
Well, we know Sam deployed a revolver on that poor innocent streetsign rolling into town…hope she’s hiding a few speedloaders, but WHERE?

Zar Belk!
Or Philip Jose Farmer’s ‘Image of the Beast’ 😉
That could work like the holster in Harry Harrison’s ‘Deathworld’, one of my favourite sci-fi novels ever.
Remember, she shot more than 6 shots into the sign, so she had to reload then.
With practice, ‘full moon’ clips can be as fast as or even faster than magazine changes.
“Alien scum and villainy “ ( Star Wars) vs “human ?? “
This thread keeps getting better and better. Can’t wait until Sunday.
BTW artwork received and wife impressed. Thanks.
Thank YOU! 🙂
The question that always comes to mind is “Who the hell is feeding them?” … Answer of course is ‘We are’ : (
A wretched hive of scum and villany surpassed only by a politican’s preferred watering hole.
Or Capital Hill, Parliament Hill, Westminster and other such travesties.
I say “… or other pits of lawyers.”
Democrat Socialists … You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.
