CA is not a “banana republic” as some have said. That would imply that there is some semblance of “order” left, at least emanating from the authoritarian oligarchy.
CA is in fact a failed state, very like Mexico. A series of satraps ruled by various low-level thugs in government and criminal gangs nominally outside of same.
Since many of the gangs involved came from south of the border to begin with, this really shouldn’t surprise anybody.
CA is a Third World country that just happens to be inside the borders of the continental United States.
And nobody in the “Corridors of Power” cares. As long as trust-fund babies like Brennan in his bespoke suit, or Brittany clutching her Gucci handbag, and driving their Teslas, can get their party drugs every evening, the oligarchs don’t care what happens to anybody else.
Except when they watch wildfires burn them out and get off on the spectacle.

CA can never be “reformed”. The rot is too deep.
Wall it off and forget about it.

Eight million more votes than LEGAL* voters.
* “Legal” in that they complied with voting laws, which is different than “legal” as in “This is California.”
