Considering that Russia was an ally during WWII and that forced the Nazis to fight on two fronts, I’m not sure that would have been tenable. I think Patton actually advocated what you suggested, but it was dismissed totally. Wasn’t good for his career. I wonder how that would have played out; we probably would have a hard time finding an ally after that (??)

That same day Allied forces entered Rome after the Germans ran.
One of my uncles led his Sherman troop up Omaha Beach that day. Another led his engineer company to the gate of Vatican City.
It was all a terrible necessity, according to them.
Well Dad and Many others freed a lot of Europe. I met in 2010 a number of ex-east Germans that were still POed. we left them to the Russians. But now they are meeting islamics along with communists. But so are we. It seems everyone the demonrats are putting up for office is some kind of evil or another.
The East Germans are now the biggest right-wingers (AfD) in Germany. They’ve already been totalitarianed by socialism, and don’t intend to let it happen again.
There are three types of people trying to implement socialism or islamism
1. The ones who think they’ll be put in charge after the fall
2. The ones who genuinely believe they’re doing a good thing
3. The ones who know that the first two will be up against a wall twenty minutes after they take over

“The check is in the mail”, and, “I’ll respect you in the morning”.
Words to live by.
Single best comment I ever heard from the debrief of a training event or operation that did not go well:
“I’ve seen this movie before. No matter how many times they remake the Titanic, the damn boat still sinks.”
At least with training you can keep running the exercise until the boat doesn’t sink, which greatly improves the chance of ops with the same result.
But “greatly improves” does not equal “insures.” “No battle plan survives contact with the enemy.”
Back when everybody was suh-wooning over Leo Duh in that flick, I saw a T-shirt that summed up my opinion perfectly.
Pretty much describes my opinion of most of Africa, Asia and etc. today, as well.

Anniversary of D-Day 2Day!
I hate that we had to do it, but thank God we had the resolve to do it.
Also the successful conclusion of the Battle of Midway two years earlier, which won the war in the Pacific. Although no one knew it at the time.
We should have kept going to free Eastern Europe from the soviet occupation, terror

“Your evil is my good.”
-Sutekh, “Pyramids of Mars”, Doctor Who 1974.
You’re dealing with a fundamentally different worldview. One with no room for self-doubt, and especially with no room for disagreement.
Entire empires have been destroyed by people who believed that they had the authority of the “absolute shall”.
