Let’s see if I can predict:

Government gets or manufactures an anonymous tip that the DD was being used as a terror safehouse or perhaps a waypoint for drug traffic, and the DD is stripped of its consulate status.

That same pretext allows DHS to raid the moment the above paperwork is dry. DHS come knocking and…with Skye at the hospital and Damon and Wade out riding, it’s at most Anatoly, Naomi, and Jan plus everybody’s kids at home. Naomi, probably also Jan went full-on mama bear defending the cubs and a firefight ensues. DHS apparently didn’t opt for a standoff and negotiation.

End result: Wade’s property is seized under asset forfeiture laws even though no charges are ever be filed against anybody at the ranch, let alone a conviction achieved. Unless the girls were feeling generous there are dead DHS agents all over the place.

The DD sign is down, multiple involved structures, ghostly evil heads of smoke arising from each, and what in God’s name is that overhead structure?

And all of this is the nightmare in Zed’s head, induced by injury, medication, PTSD, and a deep distrust and concern of the motives and methods od dotgov. I hope.

Well someone or someones just did a boatload of violence and harm.
I bet between Zed, Wade, Damon, Anatoly, Naomi and Don P, there are enough people who will met out justice, and it will be done one way or another to the person or persons who went out and got all sorts of stupid.

Anyone think maybe someone is trying to cover up the loss of a thumb drive from a visit a while back?

For what it’s worth, I think that’s a fantastic way to write. Create a universe, populate it with realistic people, and let them tell their story. I call it “letting the subconscious tell the tale”, and it results in something very close to real life.

One thing fer sure, these folks aren’t likely to go back to work in an office…

I learned a long time ago writing for RPG projects that you know you’re doing it right when the characters start telling you “No, that’s not what happened, it was like this“.

Harlan Ellison used to call it “the story writing itself”.

Now you know why most people think writers are a little out there. We have all these other people running around in our heads.

With a very small “complex.” Much smaller than the mythical DD as depicted there, and a stickler for following common sense good reasonable laws, having thought of many, in the silence of the night, I know that I, alone, could never stand off such an assault. May one never come.
Knowing who commands these forces these days and a person at the top who says that one election has consequences (BOY! It has. In spite of his party losing every other election doen to dog catcher.) I find these situations more likely for everyone day by day. Who remembers when the SWAT TV show was on about its rare use in LA? Now too many cops think they have been neutered if they don’t get the excitement. I have talked to veterans, now cops, who say they need that adrenaline rush. They could not have sen being in the military if there was not a war on. That looks like a war. Now almost every warrant is a SWAT raid.

    Wood burns.
Concrete is a wonderful thing. As is newer ballistic resistant steel.
Underground bunkers may make an appearance, but better made and survivable, more so than the other one in Texas that burned I would expect.

It may be fiction, but we are close to living it.

Interesting new invasion. Will they ever stop? There are often better ways to obtain your proper goals, but often the goals are improper.
Just some mionor speculation now on a warrant obtained due to a prick planting evidence. That incorrect package display comes to mind. It still could be claimed to be the right package of planted evidence. Like they wouldn’t do that? If they could have a brain-washer walk thousands of weapons to Mexico as part of the plan to destroy the second Amendment, his successor would have no problem with evidence presented to take out an enemy on one of the “lists” while they still have power they intend to keep.

From all indications, DHS has the same staffing parameters BATF used to. Back when I was in the game, we were told by FBI that ATF took a lot of would-be FBI agents who failed the Bureau’s psychological stability tests.

All ATF cared about was “do you hate gun owners” and “what are you willing to do to punish them?”

DHS seems to operate on the principle of “What are you willing to do to punish those who are disloyal to the President?”

That’s about one notch above the Judge Dredd Futzie Level. (“I want to Establish World Peace, Free All the Umpty Candies, and KILL EVERYBODY!!””- delivered in a “Police Constable Pan Am” accent, complete to weird falsetto.)

      Add in the variety of “enlightened” types who seem to revel in dreaming of being RedJac;

      http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Redjac

And we very likely have some bad times coming.

      BTW, I opposed the HSA back when it was first proposed. Most cops I know did as well. There’s a basic rule of government that goes;

No politician should ever try to attain powers he wouldn’t want his opposition to have. Because barring a single-party dictatorship, sooner or later, they will be back in charge and will thus have those powers.

When people asked me what I meant by that, I said, “Two words. President. Hillary.”

If more people had thought of that, HSA might never have passed.

Then again, being a Senator at the time, I’m sure she was thinking of it. And getting off on the idea.

Eon & interventor, pre-DHS, a good friend, who absolutely had the provenance to speak to it, once told me the ATF agents were the dregs of DoJ, decisively below all the other armed enforcement agencies in that Department – a total of 20 or 30 some odd IIRC. Now, they may have higher status in DHS given how most of the TSA seem to be about 4 IQ points higher than a potted plant. Nevertheless, I rather doubt the quality of their staff has improved since Waco, much less under the dystopia of the Ø_FusterCluck regime.

    Al-righty let’s try this scenario:

Wetbacks who caused accident have been led to The Double D by DHS manipulation. They hole up in the DD barn. DHS attacks said wetbacks. Wade/Damon not realizing big picture fires at DHS personal. Game On.

DHS gets a twofer, wetbacks and the DD. Unfortunately for them Wade is prepared. Tunnel system out of the AO with weapon caches and provisions. DHS can’t find bodies, what the WACO? I thought we had them surrounded.

Argentinian “Special” forces (mercenary Gurkas) show up and escort DHS off embassy property. DHS is forced to leave equipment behind as they frog walk for their lives. International incident is averted, Big reparations change hands. Tax payers are screwed.

OK. I can see how the barn/club could be on fire because the wetbacks broke in to sleep, found all the booze & food & set the place on fire accidentally; and DHS had tracked them there & tried to root them out by just letting the fire burn (or – DHS started the fire with flash/bangs & tear gas). However, the main house (or would it be the club guest house?) at the left rear is also burning – and there are no choppers, armored cars or fire equipment near it. Did DHS lob in some flash/bangs and start that…on purpose?
Why is there no fire equipment anywhere in sight?
What sort of repercussions are there going to be for the DHS attacking the sovereign territory of Argentina?
What happens when the guests who are there (if any) start telling their story? (BTW, wasn’t the Donald on-site shortly before this? Is he there now? How are they gonna shut him up?)

I’m not really sure that this has anything to do with the thumb drive. I don’t believe that DHS has the detective skills necessary to trace the path of the drive and arrive at the DD. I could be wrong, but I don’t believe that the collective IQ of DHS is very high…if you get my drift.
