So…who said that, Damon? And WTF is BASTRAYA?

It may be true, but if you’re going to attract it, you better be able to deal with it…which this Mr. and Mrs. do pretty well.

That’s a pretty battered rose, there…. It does seem weird, with Zed’s SF background, to not have at least a med kit in the car, let alone a GO bag.

Wiki says Hughes/Schweizer/Sikorski 300 can carry pilot plus two passengers, payload of 950 lbs. Should be able to carry Zed and Sam without any problems.

A Hughes/Schweizer/Sikorsky 330 C can carry Pilot and 2 pacs, cabin weight is normally limited to 600 lbs. and it ain’t very wide. As long as Toly is alone they should be fine. Velocity not to exceed is 90 knots, however I have been in one going against a 30 mph head wind and our true ground speed was about 45. A fun small aircraft, but very light thus wind sensitive.

        Fox2!

Payload is presumably some combination of cabin, skid/litter and sling. I figure Zed is about 220, ‘Toly 150 and Sam 120. 490 total. Plenty of margin.

    Where did Sam’s shoes go?

  • October 9, 2015 at 12:29 am

Chopper good for pilot plus 2, doubtless. Now if Toly can get there, and get the hell out of Dodge before the storm!

        Firefly is a morality play.
Good vs Evil, consequences for actions, and that most can be redeemed.
        Justice always is done.
Plus I love watching old guns being used in the 26th century.

Isn’t it about time to think about saving the poor Charger?

    • October 9, 2015 at 9:01 am

Later for that. I’m sure something will get done, but priorities do exist.

      • October 9, 2015 at 10:18 am

Don’t know how close to the border they are; presumably walking distance based on the crew that caused this calamity, other types of crews are probably watching.

So maybe the drone should go into surveil mode, maybe armed, after rescue of the cargo…ever seen a dead mouse set upon by fire ants? Nothing but a skeleton left in minutes. Poor Charger.

        But yeah, priorities.

Why no com link in the Charger? Middle of friggin nowhere Texas and no com link. Inconceivable for a former operator. And as mentioned before no med or go to bag. Zed’s getting what all civilized now. I would think that Sam, in her best Mama Bear role, would have had all that plus maybe a rocket launcher in the trunk. Shit my spousal unit has all that in her purse plus duct tape and a bottle of Kentucky sourmash, for medicinal purposes only.

Big chunks o’ west Texas ain’t nuthin but a sat phone gonna work if you’re more’n a few miles off I-10. That’s some of the land best describe as “miles and miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles and miles”. They got counties out there you could lose half of New England. Hell! Inner loop of San Antonio (Loop 410) is damned near as big across as Rhode Island and encloses more land.

But I’m kinda surprised there wasn’t a 1st Aid kit and at least a sat phone on board. Don’t sound like Zed aye tall!

Only the Texas city folk don’t have emergency kits in their vehicles. Non-winter kit includes first aid, water (regularly changed out), tools that particular person knows how to use, energy bars and/or MRE, blanket(s), and comms gear. And a shovel…always have a shovel.

    It’s a model airplane. With a camera.

    “Drones” are military craft, remember?

The media would love you to call every flying toy that comes down the pike, a “drone”. It’ makes it easier for the govt to restrict and eventually ban them.
