    Warhawks vs. Stuka …. interesting

The wingtips remind me more of Supermarine Spitfires. Warhawks had rounder tips…

        Definitely Spitfires,

I agree, Striker. No way those were Kittyhawks (the P-40s lend-leased to GB). The canopy and wings were a dead give away, Only the spit had those distinctive elliptical wings.

Love the whole Battle of Britain motif, Mr. Muir.

actually the “Jug” aka the P-47 Thunderbolt had elliptical wings similar to the Spitfire.

Spitfires, laddiebuck, Spitfires. No chin radiator, cooling units under wings — engine radiator to starboard, oil cooler to port — elliptical wing planform, non-retracting tailwheel, one 20mm Hispano-Suiza cannon in each wing….

Spit 5Cs, to be exact; single 20mm Birgikt/Hispano cannon plus two 0.303in Brownings rifle-caliber MGs in each wing. A second cannon or an 0.50in Browning heavy MG could be mounted outboard (that “stub” next to the cannon blast tube) but usually wasn’t, allowing its volume to be used for a larger ammo tank for the single 20mm.

Probably the best-balanced of all Spit armament setups for both interception and strafing.

Weren’t the 5Cs produced after the Battle of Britain?

Chris is using the iconic “Spitfire” profile, just maybe not the historically-accurate one. 🙂

Realize that it was a spending bill not a budget bill.
Trump can spend it how he wants where he wants and withhold funds from certain entities if he wants with that 1.3 trillion.
Remember Obama did it. Solyndra remember? Solyndra was used to launder tax money to finance a campaign. .
Hillary spent $6 billion in Libya. On what? No one knows or seems to care.
Imagine if Trump chose not spend most of it? Or a lot on the Wall?
Imagine the heads exploding in the media if he chose to go that route.
Trump if he did so would have outsmarted the congress and media …again.
Is he that smart? Lets see what he does.

I wish I had access to one of them Spitfires.
A P-38 would do great. Rather have the P-38.
Spot me a fully fueled, armed, and ready P-38, please.
Logistics and the warriors are important.
Give me ten men who are stout hearted men …

I haven’t done too bad with my home made Balsa wood and steam powered home built flying machine. (An ancestor designed a tilt motor somewhat precursor to the Osprey back in the 1920’s. Engine power was not adequate then) I’ve often used the projectiles thrown at me with great effect returned accurately back on the enemy.

The JU 87, a Junkers product, just like the EU these days and the deep staters, needs air superiority and does not do well against superior aircraft in any numbers, even with the JU 87 rear gunner. Again like the EU and globalist agendas, and also Junkers powered.

Get in the air and head for the action. How many opportunities like this do we get?

I love all of those old planes. In the families in the neighborhood the dads flew so many of them. The P-38 was one that was excellent when available later in the war. that guy covered a possible escape route when others took down Admiral Yamamoto in The Pacific Theater. That was when there were more men in Europe and the world, even if the rulers of some were scum. The women were women, too.
That Stuka was built for reliability and to survive, except when they did not have air superiority. Ferrari vs dump truck. What a visual. Then take that visual into the air.

The P-38 was one of the best, if not THE best, fighters around. If they had put Merlins in the P-38 instead of the P-51, the air war would have been so heavy in our favor it would have been ridiculous. Instead, they kept the Allisons because the Army had spent too much money developing that engine. The P-38 could do almost anything, and did.

        Fox2!

Part of the Allison development cost was the NRE on the counter-rotation mechanism. Which would have had to be reinvented for the Merlin, adding cost, schedule and risk to the program.

        NoiseMaker

Lockheed looked at it. According to Kelly Johnson, they determined that it wasn’t worth the time and effort to re-design the nacelle to make it work. In addition, there weren’t enough Merlins to go around. Killing blow was that the General at Wright Field in charge of making the decision was a former VP of Allison, and he wasn’t about to cut off Allison’s production lines.

    1) looks like a variant of the Mk. II Spitfire, but armed more like a Mk. V variant.
    2) right now the level of rage I am seeing in the hardcore conservative political activists is horrendous.
    3) deeds not words. If he does redirect the money as RayNAiken and various commentators have said, great. We will have the b*stards on the run. If he spends it the way the enemy laid out . . . expect some serious words and possibly deeds towards a “Deplorable Party” right smartly. The concept being if we are going to be defeated anyway because of the deliberate and planned betrayal of the Republicans whose flag we are largely under, we might as well die under our own colors. There will be enough losses in November to give the GOPe what they will consider to be adequate cover to join the Democrats in the impeachment resolutions in both Houses like they really, really want.
    4) “Be Thou then Truly resolved. Duty is as Heavy as a mountain, and Death is as Light as a feather.” [Imperial Rescript of Meiji ‘to Soldiers and Sailors’] We have been betrayed by those who have claimed to be our leaders and allies, so consistently, that a lot of people are going to only be concerned with making sure that they have as many sideboys as possible as they board Charon’s Ferry. Trump better have some H-U-U-GE deeds between now and November. We have been working on campaigns here in Colorado since last October. Campaigns can collapse a lot easier than they can be built, and right now they are NOT growing.

Good on you. Third party seems more and more inevitable.

    • March 25, 2018 at 11:51 am

“The concept being if we are going to be defeated anyway…”

Certainly not a new concept. And one that might have cost us greatly in hindsight. Not that that’s an indicator of the current scenario.

I think it’s more a matter of who’s under that umbrella with us, how they got there and why they stay there. Is the real R support in this country more of the RINO type or of the conservative type or the Trumpism type? We shall see very soon.

All the scum and vermin in the houses are belong to us.

      • March 25, 2018 at 2:58 pm

Point of questioning where the R party support is, is that if RINO’s like McConnell (and worse) are the continuing choice of Kentuckians and others, then yes we should let them have it and see if tea party conservatism and deplorable Trumpism can make an artful deal to field a viable third or fourth party and support. But that’s a tough row as proponents of various other parties have found; hence my statement that pursuing that is nothing new.

But I think that umbrella is ours, we as deplorables and the preference cascade took it kicking and screaming from those whose comfort was being disrupted and then they feigned support. Do we have the numbers and resolve to oust them and keep the home field advantage of a major party going forward? I think so, I hope so, and I believe that is the way to go. The entrenched traitors within the party don’t own it and are theoretically temporary, we own the party and for better or worse we own them; don’t dump the party, dump them.

I don’t fully support or maybe I just don’t fully understand some of Trump’s activities but I do understand what the activities of a Beast admin would be and we will all understand it a lot better if we lose control of the R party and the next election cycle, and after that it will almost certainly be to late to recover; I don’t see how retorts of “nnaa nnaa, told you so” are helpful as the effects of leftism within our party and theirs takes it over leaving us to start from scratch…I don’t think there will be enough scratch left to do it.

Amidst all the furor and in spite of unprecedented personal vitriole, lying, and obstruction by the entire public and private leftist establishment including within his own party and even misgivings among us his deplorable supporters, here’s what I see has been accomplished and in process thus far under this admin, note that all the major campaign issues are covered, much of it through misdirection and sleight of hand which we have to believe continues with the issues we are bitching about now:

Hitting immigration head-on and fighting courts for it at every turn…unprecedented (if imperfect) NRA support…shutting down the NoKo nutboy…facing down China trade…gutting O-care…big tax cut…big mil buildup…the wall in progress and point made about Mexico defacto paying for it. Not a bad 14 month record, esp. considering where we would be in the alternative.

Things could be a lot worse, and will be if we abandon the structure of the party instead of cleaning it out and rebuilding it in our own image, and God’s.

Good points all above. All of it worth noting.
      And.
How does one continue in a society or organizational structure that does evil things.
Example. Hungary had no choice but to join Germany. Some were enthusiastic. The Hungarian Army happily fought on the Eastern front against the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Then. Near Warsaw. The SS general in charge of taking out the Warsaw Uprising orders the Hungarian Army to join the attack on Warsaw. The Hungarian general politely informs the SS general that it won’t happen. The Hungarians won’t attack, and might attack the Germans if given that order.
Ordered to seal the South and West sides of Warsaw the Hungarians ran the expressway in and out of Warsaw. All of the Hungarians unregistered weapons and ammo were delivered to the Poles. Hospitals were set up for the wounded, civilian and military. Food was transported in. All who wanted to leave were escorted out, or Poles given Hungarian uniforms to drive the carts leaving. Polish reinforcements were escorted in. Towards the end of the 60 day uprising that was supposed to last a week or so, the actual confrontations between SS and Hungarian Army increased and there were numerous deaths.
All this time the Russians had stopped their advance less than 20 kilometers from Warsaw’s borders. Stalin’s politics demanded that the actual Polish people not reestablish a true Polish government in Warsaw that the world would recognize. Hungary was ready to switch sides if the allies would have recognized their actions and the Polish government, the troops not being declared war criminals depended on it. The allies did not recognize the Polish government in Warsaw. Hungarian troops The Hungarians were ordered back to Hungary after Romania switched sides and attacked Hungary’s borders.
Even when atrocities are happening all around you, be true to yourself and work what good that you can. Stare down the SS. It helps to be an identified group with other people who think similar to you gathered together.
There are always good choices even when in the middle of evil. Do what you can. When it is darkest is when action is needed to push the change. We still have not handled the war crimes of Hillary, Obama, Soros, Junkers, and many others in North Africa, the Middle east, and in Europe. Yet we are good people. We are at war by the attacks of others on us.

Unfortunately for us the Senators elect their leadership, not the voters. And there are more Senators that think like McConnell than those who support DJT.

It appears that voting this fall will be a decision between electing a senator who will ignore us and then crap on our shoes, or a senator who will steal everything we own including our rights and then crap on our shoes.

The worst part is that the Rs know that we have no alternative. They know that we know that electing a democrat is the worst of all scenarios and not voting is the same as voting for the D. So we will vote R knowing that as soon as our guy takes his oath, his constituents will be forgotten.

Most of those feckless GOP pussies aren’t up for re-election. They will have two or four more years to try to stymie Trump and keep the swamp well watered. The House is a different matter. Ryan could have done the right thing but knew that if he did it would be dead in the Senate and I guess he didn’t want to take the blame. Spineless whoresons, all of them. If McConnell doesn’t realize that Chuckie will dump the filibuster as soon as he needs to (should the Dem’s take the Senate) he’s even more clueless than I thought.

Maybe, someone could tell this old codger, what is the importance to Mr. Muir’s point whether these illustrations represented spitfires, Warhawks , Stukas, or ink that many of the protesters survived the war. As bill Maulden explained to a soldier that refused to fight Mr. Roosevelt’s war, his cartoon Sarge explained to the snowflake: “We can’t force you to fight. All we can do is train you up the best we know how, put you in the front lines, and let you make up your own mind.”

The more things change, the more they stay the same. When will we ever learn?

  • March 25, 2018 at 9:56 am
    Arkelk

Clever design, Mr. Muir, for the Trump plane symbol. Combines both the symbol of his predecessor with an invocation of Trumps hair.

I can think of only two reasons why he might have signed the bill. One, it was put to him that it was the only way he was ever going to get an increase in the military money. Two, they found something in digging around that is of hugely toxic death penalty level crime on him. I think both of these are false, so I am still baffled, angry, and hurt.

One of the things that got deleted from my previous comment was the explanation that before WWII, British students marched against carrying signs that they would not fight against Germany. It wasn’t a huge number, kinda like our snowflakes. However, the Germans believed them and became convinced the Great Britain would not oppose them so they started WWII. Our snowflakes and BLM may be making a similar mistake.

I love those P-51’s. One of the best American planes, and they showed up later in the war. The P-51 still has outstanding performance today for a piston engine propeller aircraft.
Early on one of the best US made fighters available in the first battles was the P-40 Warhawk (and a few other nicknames around the world where they served with various air forces.)
Among the vast numbers of aircraft the British faced in their Spitfires when the Battle of Britain began were many JU-87’s among the vast number of bombers and fighters sent to bomb Britain into submission. You might like the film I posted. It is about the development and the designer and creator of the Spitfire.

The ‘Tea Party’ basically started shortly after Obama’s inauguration. Then over the course of eight years, it self-imploded. Or, IMO, it ate itself over who controlled who, or what. My late wife was the beginning of the Baton Rouge Tea Party. She located and contacted several others in the area who were posting and commenting on websites like Grassfire.com (or .org or whatever it was) and we all met at a local park in mid-March 2009. At the first meeting she was overwhelmingly nominated and elected as their first president. April 15, 2009, we held the first rally. She was asked by the city permitting office how many she expected to attend. She said, “Maybe four or five hundred.” Over 2000 showed up.

Within two months, members were spreading rumors about her. I didn’t learn until it was too late. Rather than fight against them (and her ‘friends’ who chose to do nothing) she resigned. And we sat and watched as the ‘Paulbots’ infiltrated, took over, and burned the movement to the ground.

I hope if there is a ‘second coming’ of the Tea Party… they’ve learned their lessons. But I seriously doubt it.

Also… to be historically accurate, the Spitfires were necessary against Ju-88s as opposed to, say, P-51s. But I love the irony of British planes sporting Gadsden flag images.

Politics always has plants to destroy any who actually want to or are doing good. Some organization is good. Massive motivated actions like the TEA Party was, focus each awareness of the people through a lens for a while. the TEA Party represented the ideas the American people have had for generations. Donald J Trump is the first candidate in agesto actually reflect what the people of America believe and want. And then go oput and do it when elected. What a massive thought. An elected doing what they said they would do. Or making an effort to.
I have watched sucking up lying sycophants around politics since Ii began poking my mouth and brain into their efforts at power. This is why many have said that the blood must be renewed regularly, or that revolution is constant. The way of humanity is power plays. The way of humanity and western civilization is also personal responsibility, achievement for good, and the advancement of individualy rights and responsibility over the central power of government or people. Millions of people have been fired for not following political or business despots party line. It is easier, but worse for all, to remain the grey man not being seen. That’s why the private ballot and the rights granted by God are so important to be asserted all of the time.
What the TEA Party was has been regularly bubbling to the surface and being asserted. The UNIParties play off appealing to that same underlying basic belief of the American people when they are out of power, then ignore them when they are in power. Look at all of the intellectual basis of people trying to get by the UNIPARTY for the past 60 years. Trump finally did it by being in one party.
There is a chance to replace the controlled GOP members now in congress. Look at the tens of millions spent by the GOP to defeat that Alabama Justice who ran for US Senate.
Americans will continue to assert themselves periodically.

You and your wife did real good.

      Real good.

Thanks but it really was all her… I was just ‘the money’, technical and moral support, chauffer, etc.
Funny thing was we’d go visit her mother and we’d start talking politics. We were on the same side but my wife hated it when we did. Obama flipped the switch… She was awesome to behold.
I went to a Herman Cain rally with her. I just kind of stood to the side and watched. Senator David Vitter came into the room and saw my wife and made a beeline for her. “Hey Robin! How are you?”
When you find out your wife is on a first-name basis with a U.S. Senator, you can’t help but be impressed.

The gathering storm led to the darkest hour, per Sir Winston..and the Dunkirk reference, with the three spits flying under the radar, was the reason the nazis kept putting off the invasion of Britain. The fact they saved their army by getting it off the beach so they could defend the homeland was the most successful retreat in history.
That, and still having the Royal Navy and at least some air power balance..to which never was so much owed to so few by so many, also per Sir Winston. He said a lot, around these times.

“Forget it. They’re just common Americans.”

And a hearty Fuck You, Too. And the hearse you rode in.
It was the “common Americans” that put you into office.
Why you haven’t been removed from office, by vote or by rope, is beyond my ken.

    Just a thought:

In “Dog Day Afternoon,” Al Pacino goes out side the bank and yells “Attica, Attica” as a rallying cry. In “Gladiator” the crowd chants “Maximus, Maximus” to Russel Crowe. I think that our cry can be “Omnibus, Omnibus.” It gets to the heart of the betrayal.

I’m printing up bumper stickers with this on it and sending them to the local elected officials. Red with white letters should look good on my green truck.

Now that we have our rallying cry, plan on getting involved in the 2018 elections. Not just your local area but state wide. Go guerilla!

The art on Trump’s plane reminds me of a happy pirate going on a raid.

So I missed the Stormy Daniels interview…not that I would have wasted my time watching it anyway.

As I noted to some of my former shipmates.

“The ENTIRE liberal left in this country has now come under the leadership of a worn out porn star (in every sense of the word) and snot-nosed millennial narcissit enjoying his 15 minutes of fame? Did I miss something?”

However, I wouldn’t mind seeing Mr. Muir’s snarky and artistic take on the whole Trump-Stormy mess..

I wish I shared your optimism Chris. I don’t. I figure that there’s enough momentum and inertia in a 20 Trillion dollar economy to get me cremated and my ashes scattered. But for my granddaughter I’m terribly afraid it will be every man (or in her case, woman) for himself and the best I can do is teach her to shoot and be mean enough to take the shot.

    ((sigh))

Republicans have been compromising the country out of us since the 1930s. I don’t know if a third party is viable, but it’s necessary.

And that would be “out from UNDER us.” Ability to edit our own messages would be a huge benefit in here.
