Born again, just as I was in 1980. And she is not alone; there are many, many disillusioned obamites who are prime for rebirth as, if not conservatives in every sense, at least economic realists.

But I fear the opportunity for conversion will be largely lost…in ’80 I had Rev. Ronnie preaching the gospel, and now we’ve got Trump, so…

Da Trump has signed a party pledge. Wonder if he will honor it.

Now we have the other Ronnie’s son (a disciple) reaching for the pulpit.

Trump said that he would honor the pledge “as long as I’m treated fairly.” Who will decide what fairly means?

At this point, “what does it matter?”.

The Republicans are too stupid to realize the only ones a pledge would prevent someone from voting for Trump are those Establishment types who wouldn’t have voted for him anyway.

If you want to understand this one, you need to shut off the political class and look at the people. Trump would win handily as a 3rd party independent………..

Just a hair too facile to be believable, with Skye.

Jan, who was by far the most pro-One of them all. As the old saying goes, a conservative is a progressive who got mugged last night.

        Or as Churchill said,

“A man (or woman) who isn’t a liberal at age twenty has no heart. One who isn’t a conservative at thirty has no brain”.

Been there, done that, but in my case it was fourteen and eighteen, respectively. And I went from anti-gun progressive to pro-gun “libertarian” – go figure.

I strongly suspect reading Heinlein and H. Beam Piper had a lot to do with it.

        cheers

I have heard of, but never read H Beam Piper. I’ll need to add him to my Eternal Book List.

Heinlein was enough to do it for me.

RAH has always been my favorite scifi author. I think I have almost every book he’s ever written (missing: Beyond This Horizon, a couple on politics, Tramp Royale).
To upset Libtards, I especially love to quote Col DuBois from Starship Troopers.

I was reading Ayn Rand before Heinlein turned libertarian, but I wound up as a Heinlein libertarian, not a Randian.

        H. Beam Piper is hard to find, but quite worthwhile. If you can get just one of his books, get Lone Star Planet. Early in the book, someone kills a Senator in public, on the steps of the Senate. His defense was, “He had it coming. He proposed a graduated income tax.” Evidence of that heinous crime being presented, the jury promptly acquitted the killer.

While politics aren’t his mainstay in his writing Dan Simmons has always been one of my favorites. I believe his career took a big hit when he wrote negatively about the Islamic horde.

Yessir The two of those fellows were my clairion call as well.
RAH woke me up using “Stranger” (made me realize that even religion is little more than population control (government) dressed up like a loving friend and HBP cemented the libertarian base with Lone Star Planet.
John Prine bemoaning the loss of “Paradise” to “Mr Peabody’s coal train” helped as well.

Woke my 22 year old self right up they did indeed.
Of course that’s been mumble – mumble years ago.

They weren’t all lies… He said he was going to fundamentally transform this country…

Yes. He said that. He just decieved by sleight of hand and mouth exactly what that fundamental transformation was intended to be.

I had spoken to everyone I knew and many I did not, yet, few listened. Their “Overton Window” would not let them accept truthful statements as they was so much incongruity with their beliefs.

I still meet people plugged into the Democrat/Progressive/Captive media matrix.

Time to undo his damage, then rebuild, and throw every one of his invader Ascendant (so called) Americans out of the country.

On second thought, she is still thinking only of hersel;f. As she was indoctrinated.

“There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.” R. Heinlein sure had BHO’s number…….

    • September 15, 2015 at 1:35 am

      Heinlein was pure awesome.
