    Key phrase being,

“…morons that elites will try to use to rob…”

Correct. If those stupid sheep will smother themselves to obey us, what else will they do…will they kill for us?

But we already know the answer to that don’t we?

    Robbers steal accumulated capital.
Our greatest accumulated capital are our human rights given to us by God.
Our Republic is our public means of protecting that accumulated capital from theft. I can trace robbers engaging in asymmetric and hot war to steal that Republic and our valuable accumulated capital of human rights since the time when our capital was formed in revolution.
The Chinese, the Democrats, and the rest who would destroy our accumulated capital of God given rights as codified in our Republic are but the latest ones in that long term nonstop war against us. To fundamentally change is to destroy.
They won’t, if we can keep it.

Bringing one to reflect on just how it was kept before.

Will they kill us? Yes, if we don’t kill them first. But not until no other response is left, or until we see the whites of their eyes, or something. Not easy.

Will masks 100% protect you from Covid? No.

Will they protect you 50% Yes.

Is 50% enough to make it a good idea to wear them?

IMHO yes. Your opinion is up to you.

Is my opinion up to me? Really? Or should I be forced into compliance under threats of fines and jail sentences, resulting in my inability to make an honest living?

I have no problem with the fearful among us demonstrating to the public their irrational fear, and their willing susceptibility to mass deception, by wearing a mask. It’s pathetic, sure, but I have no desire to force them to stop. Just don’t force your germophobia onto others, making us reluctantly pretend to be one of you, because at some point your support for the injustice of mass coercion is going to be reflected back onto you. That’s all. Get it?

You can drop out of society all together if you’re afraid to be near other people and their icky germs, and stay away from me all you want, and we’ll both be content with that.

But that’s not the way the left operates. They CAN NOT tolerate liberty, even if it’s a thousand and miles away and has no tangible effect on them. Come in to my sphere and tell me I have to do this or refrain from that however, and we’ll have a problem. See?

So don’t pretend to be all “live and let live” unless you truly mean it, because we ALL know that’s not now this works with the Romish, authoritarian “left”. And if you’re one of them, take your fake innocence play-act and peddle it somewhere else, ’cause I’m not buying it.

You got it. A pandemic is a chain reaction. Anything that slows the spread helps push it toward below self-sustaining.

It isn’t so much that the mask protects you, though it’s better than nothing. It’s that it protects the others in case you are an asymptomatic spreader and don’t know it.

I have read that the only we will defeat Covid-19 is through “Herd Immunity,” the point where there are so many of us that are immune to the disease, it can’t get a foothold in the population.

At the same time, we are being ordered (ORDERED!) to stay at home, stay at a distance from each other, and to wear masks in public.

How will we ever achieve Herd Immunity that way? Do the powers-that-be really think the vaccines will do it? That’s NOT how it works!

They won’t, duh. Masks protect others from being infected by the wearer. Which is a good idea, in that they still can reduce infection rate a lot, but is a much cheaper and less invasive approach than trying to lock up in quarantine everyone who MIGHT be infected.

It’s just that for some reason nothing remains sane and efficient when the leftists handle it in their own peculiar way.

“Masks protect others from being infected by the wearer.”
No, they don’t. Basic masks allow unfiltered exhaled air to escape around the edges (And fogging you glasses). The fancier ones have an exhaust valve which allow exhaled air an easy, direct path. Masks and respirators are meant to protect the wearer from inhaling nasty stuff, they don’t do VERY little to protect others. And even the best fabric masks are a joke. It takes a full-face mask providing eye as well as respiratory protection, using a sophisticated military-grade filter the size of a hockey puck. And even those have an unfiltered exhaust. As someone put it, wearing a cloth mask to stop a virus is like using a chain link fence to stop gnats.

Sadly, my wife has become a Karen. She nags me into wearing a mask wherever we go, because……reasons. I try to not wear a mask in as many places as I can get away with it. But some places (COSTCO) won’t even let you in without a mask on. (sigh…….)
I have a mask modeled after the Medieval plague mask. On one side I have written “COVID IS NOT THE PLAGUE”. I’m pondering what to put on the other side. Maybe MASKS PREVENT HERD IMMUNITY. Or possibly QUARANTINE THE SICK, NOT THE HEALTHY.

At 90% of places that “require” masks around here. I just ignore the sign and only get grief from the occasional Karen. At the other 10% of places, I pull the ADA exemption card.
At about 80% of those places they nod and allow me to continue on. At the other 20% Most get a slight polite brief on ADA, Hippa and an automatic guilty until proven innocent lawsuit for $10k as provided by ADA AND if I wear a mask you will be cleaning up blood from my head hitting the floor in about 4-5 minutes.
Only ONCE has that not passed muster. And in that case, the store manager and assistant manager brought me product to examine for 1.5 hours while they also brought me water and accomodated my reasonable needs. I ended up making a purchase and the manager asked if I would be back any time soon? Not sure, why? I think you might just slip by us next time.

It’s a small thing really, but unless we’re talking about people who are truly performing at exceptional levels, at the top of their game, I read “elite” in airquotes. Not one of the these people referenced, be they “journalists”, apparatchiks, government functionaries, ivy leaguers, etc. can be honestly called “elite”. The term is so overused as to be laughable. I’ll step off my soap box now…

      No need.
There are, grossly speaking, two types of “elite”.
Those who have earned the title and those who had the title bought for them by their families.
Although the two often overlap, it is the former who have my respect.
The overlaps will have to work much harder to prove their worth.

I think the masks are nothing but theater, but I’m not particularly bothered to wear one right now. Why? Because no one can see me sneering at them, they think I’m one of them (excellent cover, by the way), and even when I’m wearing my green mask that says, “Front Toward Enemy,” I get nothing but thumbs up (isn’t that somehow racist these days?) and a request for where I got said mask.

At the moment, I’m wearing Christmas theme masks. Not sure what I’ll wear after Christmas, other than the FTE mask, but one thing is certain: They only think they’re winning, while we just waltz in right in front of them.
