Had seen that report but it can’t be true because I have seen no mention of it at all on any of the major news outlets.

Correct Jo, not the machines fault…yet. But give the ChiComs about, oh, four years or so and their machines will be our masters.

Best wishes for all Americans and America that the new year will be better than the old year…we’ll see how it looks about Wednesday.

And within four hours of that bombshell, the DS had trucks removing the ballots that were to be inspected.

Why blame the machines, indeed! After all, they were only obeying orders!

Never blame the machine. Instead blame the engineer, designer, builder, programmer (and I do, often, as I repair a poorly designed piece of equipment). Remember GIGO, Garbage In, Garbage Out. (and there is absolutely nothing garbage about Jo)
(only slightly OT, I’m in the process of testing some minor reinforcements on some parts that break often. maybe I can eventually put myself out of business. naaaaah. never happen. “you can never make anything foolproof, fools are too ingenious” )

Except as I allude above if/when AI fully rolls out.

And even then yeah I guess blame -or credit- lies with the human hand behind it. It’s a matter of whose hand I guess which will be nearly impossible to control once that genie gets out of the bottle.

Which appears to be why Elon Musk is so openly leery of its pursuit. And who would know better than him the danger that a combination of “thinking” machines and an evil human hand would pose?

      • January 1, 2021 at 11:06 am
        John

Scott Adams has already pointed out that the AI is already up and is, by virtue of its totally impenetrable algorithms already out of control. What Elon Musk wants is a _rational_ AI, and although I wish him the best of luck I’m not holding my breath. As was pointed out before, “Nothing is foolproof because fools are so ingenious.” To that I would add Murphy’s Law and our own genetic predisposition to game _any_ system. And the latter is the reason no command economy will survive for long. There is a reason no socialist scheme has _ever_ survived.

2020 got it’s last kick in the guts in for me…

My father (age 82) spent the day in his happy place… puttering away in his shop… Overnight, he awakened briefly in pain and then passed out. My mother had him rushed to the hospital via ambulance but he passed before arrival. MD figures it was from an abdominal aneurysm but they’ll do an autopsy to be sure. If so, his offspring should be checked for similar issues as it is correctable.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, I might not be able to travel to the region… and if I do, I will be quarantined for two weeks…

We lost our father-in-friend 3 weeks ago after a fairly quick slide through caner meds and dementia. The funeral was just family a week before Christmas and we’re hoping for a celebration in the spring.

Thanks, everyone. It looks like I’m going to be watching a video feed from Texas rather than attending in person.

I get a bit misty when I think of the reunion between my dad and my daughter… They both loved big hugs, motorcycles and other things. I expect they’re looking down and laughing at me.

For the new year they should give all police a shoot to kill order for looting and property damage assholes and don’t hassle citizens for defending their property and lives.. That kind of punk ass behavior would stop in a New York second. There might be peace at last in those democrat communist states. We don’t seem to have that here in the south. I wonder why. Just a thought, My new years wish is for peace in America and Trump to be sworn in again.

      But wouldn’t that be RAAAAAACIIISSST?!?

One of the biggest problems in contemporary US Society is that no one wants to call out the silent majority of so-called “hard working, law-abiding” blacks who remain silent when an inordinate number of their ilk are engaging every kind violent crime, including BLM & ANTIFA-sponsored looting & pillaging in major metropolitan areas. Why are they silent? Likely a mixture of implicit support for said behavior, racial solidarity, or a fear of backlash from fellow blacks.

      • January 1, 2021 at 2:36 pm
        JTC

All of the above. But the bigger question is why we allow, even encourage the behavior of the thugs and their silent enablers.

Read a piece a few days ago that correctly assigned the blame for that on our mindless pursuit and unquestioned defense of “equality” when there is in fact no such thing.

P.S. It is, indeed, foolish to blame a machine for doing exactly what it was designed to do. “Jo”, however seems to be self-designing and thus part of the “problem”. That may all be blamed on the original “Designer” who made the machine and software but “Jo” gets a little credit, here.

Is trhere an “idependent” creative subroutine? Where does the original designer end? A “soul” subroutine?

Might explain the thumb-drive port behind my ear.

Jo, you cute Alloy, conservatives don’t blame machines for what happens. Unlike Progs. who imbue machines with will and power. Rather , like the shamans of old. imbued places and things with will and power. Thus, guns cause deaths and crime. Not the POS holding the gun.

      JTC

      I remember that.

And those comments; if we had known then what we know now? After enduring the year straight from hell, maybe we would have gone way beyond questioning as we realized they don’t just “know things”, they create things, one after another and one more destructive than the other, until they achieve the desired result. Which by all appearances they have done.

“America is at a turning point.” Sam/Chris so presciently said then. And what a horrible turn it took.

So what might we have done beyond mere questioning if we had known what awaited us one year ago today?

What might we do from now until 1/1/22 beyond mere questioning and accusing and exposing and proving their intent to destroy us and America?

See you in a year. Maybe.
