There are none so stupid as they who will not learn. What is the age difference, and educational difference, between these two?

IIRC they are twins, with Sam being the older daughter. Educational differences aside, I think it is emotional maturity that makes the difference.

The difference between feeling that something is true and the thing being true entirely escapes those who live by emotion instead of thought.

Y’all knew this, of course. I’m just saying.

Did you expect the effects of all those years of indoctrination to disappear in a puff of smoke? She has to root out all her dearly held misconceptions, both conscious and subconscious, and examine them in the cold light of day.
Wait for her to have her moment of epiphany on this issue. It will come.
Be patient, people. Deprogramming isn’t done in a day.

  • August 16, 2017 at 1:40 am

Wow Skye. Learning is a process and I’m on your side, but unless as Sam suspects you are pulling our legs, the process will be arduous.

I’ve never heard even a hint of guilt from DT, quite the opposite, and quite rightly so.

“Interest” on the other hand, is the only way to explain why a self-made man in his later years would subject himself to what has to be painful and at times demoralizing. Takes a lot of interest and a lot of love for his country and his fellow man to do that.

Watch and learn girl, right there at home from your sister and family, and on the world stage to see what it takes to be a selfless Patriot, trying to save the world.

I have never had the feeling that Trump is doing this primarily from love of country – though I do believe he loves the country. I honestly think this was the biggest “acquisition” he could ever make, and he saw the time was right to make it. I think there’s probably a LOT of different motivations mixed together, to make him run – but foremost is this is the biggest and most incredible ‘venture’ he’s ever made.

And I don’t want patriots trying to save the world. Just this country. Saving the world is part of how we got in this mess.

        PaulS

Making America Great again, does save the world. History repeating itself.

      • August 16, 2017 at 11:42 am

I did say from the beginning that DT’s motivation was to “win”, and certainly we were due for a winner, that’s not a bad thing. I have been pleasantly surprised at his capacity to work to fulfill his promises after the win…or maybe he believes that winning is an ongoing process, which it is. That too is a good thing.

As to love of America, Americans, and patriotism, that doesn’t mean you have to go around hugging everybody and wearing a flag pin. Love and patriotism are proven by deeds, not by words and “signaling” for public consumption. That’s the only explanation for what Trump is subjecting himself to I think.

Yes, I should have said save the world by saving America First, but as PaulS says, the latter begets the former, over and over.

Skye and her leftist ilk are big on eastern mysticism; maybe they should study and take to heart the old proverb about giving a fish versus teaching to fish…but they won’t because it pretty much defines and debunks their whole raison d’état .

In my IMHO (not so, actually) he has been a very cleverly closeted conservative, who at sometime during the Celebration of Ignorance (2008-2016) realised that the GOP could not defeat the march of socialism, and was in fact actively and eagerly enabling it. As a patriot, in the good old-fashioned meaning, he did what he felt he had to do to repay what the Founders had bestowed upon him, seeing as none of the other declared candidates had a snowball’s chance in hell of defeating the Enemedia – who had placed Lightbringer in power and were about to replace Himself with Felonia von Pantsuit. Most interesting times, however one feels about it.

I once read an article about an “airplane game”, a variety of pyramid scheme. One of the characteristics of those “playing” was their beliefs about money.

Such as “But don’t (I) deserve money for just existing?” (Umm, no, not that I can determine.)

Or “What business is it of anyone else what I do with MY money?” (It wouldn’t be, except that it’s “Yours” only because in the pyramid scheme, you got it from others through deceptive methods.)

This particular “game” was being run in San Francisco in the early Eighties. I’m sure it would have played in Seattle when Skye was there, and she’d have been a player.

The dog-eat-dog math of the “game” would probably have extracted her $50k from her even faster than the thugs did.

The point is that a sense of entitlement and a lack of understanding of consequences are endemic in progressives. It’s one reason that they are progressives. Along with a belief that they are inherently morally superior, and thus everything they do is inherently right and good.

They do believe in Original Sin, though. They define it as “not being exactly like them”.

Skye didn’t get like this in a day, and she won’t grow out of it in a day, either. Although I think she’s taken the first step; realizing that for someone like her (an attractive woman with no noticeable life skills, unlike her sister), she’s reached the point in time at which her choices are to grow up or else spend her later years in what P.J. O’Rourke once called “the lonely hell of the formerly cute”.

Yep, she still doesn’t understand that it’s not virtue if it’s other people’s money.
She also doesn’t understand that it’s not virtue in God’s eyes if you do it publicly, with trumpets and criers – or whistles and air horns and banging on trash can lids – announcing your virtue.

Mark Lowry had a bit where he talked about winning a button as a kid for being Most Humble in Sunday School. His question was, “If I wear it, do they take it back?”

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C. S. Lewis

Interest is based on Principal, and over time will compound and grow. Skye’s interest is based on fleeting emotion and is chaff on the wind, which never truly settles,.
As to her guilt about money, that would take more than medication and a Shrink to figure out. She’s missing a few lock washers in her head and heart.

We can only hope that Skye discovers her guilt is the result of spending unearned money.
Thomas Sowell started off as a dyed-in-the-wool Marxist and taught the same at the University of Chicago (yes THAT University of Chicago).
He claims the scales fell from his eyes when he left academia to get a real job and discovered that Marx was full of it.
This attests to Sowell’s intelectual integrity. He saw the facts of life and changed his mind accordingly.
Let us hope that Skye has enough mind left to do the same.

I agree with Bill. Though Chris’s latest style is nicely realistic, and, well, “stylish”, the older way he drew these ‘toons was more fulfilling. He was taking on and competing in a widely-established way of communication – and winning.

I want the hand to heal, ‘n all, but I too am enjoying the flashback.
