A Museum of Western Art docent I interviewed told me he asks young audiences if they would have wanted to be cowboys. Every hand, boys and girls, goes up. Then he asks them if they would like to spend all day in the saddle, sleep on the ground when they weren’t on night watch, eat beans and bacon, and drink camp coffee because water might make you sick, for two months every Spring. That doesn’t sound nearly as much fun.
Kiko is getting an education. Now really is the best time to live.
I’m surprised no one has commented on the smell yet. Both personal hygiene and public sanitation were a LOT different back then. One of my favorite lines in Game of Thrones said everything about life in s Medieval city. As Queen Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) and her entourage are approaching King’s Landing on a state visit, they pause as the city comes into sight, and she remarks disparagingly: “Kings Landing. Ha, you can smell the $hit from here!”
Thank GHOD for modern plumbing and soap!
“Thank G-d for modern plumbing” IF it’s being used.
Beaches have to close here because our new citizens are using it for a sandbox and not only can’t the kids make sandcastles or even just play on the beach anymore but the fecal coliform levels in the water are off the scale…not much better in the cities and even the smaller towns now, need a bathroom ? just squat and go wherever you please, but don’t say anything or the ‘heritage police’ will have YOU up on charges for insulting their culture.
My first impression of NYC was the smell…from 10,000 feet.
They blamed the garbage strike, but my impression was that habitual city dwellers were too tolerant for their own good.
Another impression I got more recently was the report from Israel that their stink bomb riot control agent had no effect on natives of India.
I have to wonder if the move into the more dangerous environment outside the cave was prompted by the atmosphere.
A pal in Houston lives in mid-town. Million dollar mansions, halfway houses, and elementary schools all in the same block. Homeless everywhere, poop, piss, needles, and he pays a lot for his place. He said it was just the way it is, live with it. Nope. Blue cities. Fck’em. They made the mess. Let’em fester in their own swill. And don’t tell me it’s just the way it is. But there are cool restaurants within walking distance. Check. Just carry and wear body armor on the way back after dark. Or don’t accept it. Or move. And I’m called a fascist by him. Okay.
People like him are like a lot of people near me. They whine about the expense of everything, especially housing, and won’t do a thing to improve either their own lot or (by rational voting) anyone else’s. But I improved my own wildly by moving only a few miles inland. That was it. Due to nearby aging family members it’s the best I can do for now, but that alone made a hell of a difference on most counts.
When a problem presents itself as “take it or leave it,” it’s often a euphemism for “it is what it is.” But it almost never is. If you can’t beat ’em, leave ’em.
Even worse; after they rape and butcher the innocent women, the cavalry then butchers/kills/imprisons the attempted defenders and lets the murderers go.

G O T one of the very best series
ever, right up there with movies-
`Braveheart’, ‘Tombstone` and
`Last of the Mohicans`.
IMO.
I thought it was Mari that had the black hair.
Kiko appears in the second frame. She’s out of frame in the first.

“Indians?” Iroquois or Asian?
If Asian, more likely Pakistani than Indian. Or any of the Islamic variety.

RE: Londonistan
Saw this in the comments section of another site with regards to how the British have ruined their own nation:
Britannia waives the rules.
