How about precision aimed rocks from space aimed at certain parts of DC and surrounding environs?

“Freehold” may have better precision with ballistic rocks.

        And a better goal state.

Was looking over the ballot for the primary here in Texas (early voting is going on now) and was shocked by the propositions on the ballot on both sides. For the GOP I was shocked that things could be so bad that folks’d feel the need for explicit referenda. I’mhaving to take it easy for 10 days or so. Had angioplasty last thursday including 2 stents.

Here are just some of what we’re going to be approving/disapproving for the november ballot:
    Republican Proposition #2
    SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS:
Texas should reject restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms.

    Republican Proposition #5
PARENTAL RIGHTS: Texas parents or legal guardians of public school
children under the age of 18 should be the sole decision makers for all their children’s healthcare decisions including, but not limited to, psychological assessment and treatment, contraception, and sex education.

    Republican Proposition #6
PARENTAL RIGHTS: Texas should ban chemical castration, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital mutilation surgery on all minor children for transition purposes, given that Texas children as young as three (3) are being transitioned from their biological sex to the opposite sex.
    (and, yeah, I acknowledge a certain disconnect between #s 5 & 6 although …)

The Dim side is just SOSDD.

A permanent draining of the swamp will be complicated. First, reduce the size of DC to about 33 percent of its present size and return the rest to Maryland. Just the Capitol, White House, Supreme Court building and a few other major buildings in the city limits. Remember, the Pentagon isn’t in DC. Reduction in size would severely reduce the population and remove an argument for statehood. Limit term in office for Congress – 8 years (four terms) for the House and 12 years (two terms) for the Senate. Lifetime ban on lobbying for politicians who spend more than four years in office. Similar lobbying ban for political appointees to civil service positions. Rotate senior regular civil service personnel in grades GS 14 and 15 out of DC to the field, regularly. Same for Senior Executive Service personnel. Ban on lobbying if they spend more than 20 years in civil service.

The easiest way to outline your proposed “Federal Enclave:” restrict it to the limits of jurisdiction of the Capitol Police; all else returns to MD, and welcome to it . . .

There are about 27 uniformed and plain clothes law enforcement organizations within DC. The Capitol Police only have jurisdiction over the Capitol and its grounds, and Congressional office buildings.

I think Madison had a better idea with the Virginia governorship. Stagger terms so that an office holder cannot succeed him/herself in that office.
Another idea would be to mandate Approval voting rather than Majority voting to cut out the Party middlemen and allow people to vote up or down on each candidate regardless. This allows people to vote their actual knowledge of said candidates.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this because I suspect it won’t be long, considering progress in stem cell research, before we will be effectively become immortal, and we need some kind of way to stir the political pot.
Preferably without incurring mass mutual murder/suicide.

Silly troll can’t (won’t) see that OMB specifically said “no”. Typical leftist reportage.

POTUS is doing here what he always so masterfully does; misdirection, hyperbole, vague ironic humor…while making the real point that the swamp slime is deep and wide and will require maximum means to dispose of.

There is an old Science Fiction story where the “President” of the planet held office for only one year. The issue was that during the year anyone including children could continue to vote for him by pushing a button under the picture. Too many pushes of the button would cause heads to explode.

An old fantasy series I quite enjoy offered an interesting form of government which seemed to work well.

The President was selected by popular vote but most people did their damnedest to avoid the honour… because as soon as you were picked, everything you own was seized & sold at current market value. That amount was added to the government’s accounts.

For your term (going from memory, it was five years), you were paid a basic salary and the usual amenities and your job was to ensure the economy worked. At the end of your term, if the economy had grown, then the value of your estate was returned with the increase reflected. If the economy didn’t grow or worse, that reflected as well.

This had the curious effect of encouraging politicians to be less receptive to the blandishments of special interests and more focused on reducing the size & scope of government.

Straw Man Mike (heh) does not have what it takes to be potus and he knows as much as anyone who watched him expose himself in the LV debate.

But BO and MO do. As previously mentioned Zero has been holding back any endorsement which CNN’s new piece says is the big game changer for the clown who gets it. But it won’t be Bern which Obama has vowed to oppose unless/until he gets the nom, which he won’t if Obama does take sides…especially if it is for the doomsday scenario described below.

So here’s Bloomie’s chance, his pissy face and words won’t matter when all the world can see is their African Queen with Zippy peering smugly over her shoulders. All he has to do is play along until they are done with him and his money (redundant), and the lady vice ascends the stage, as all admirers and erstwhile competitors alike fawn before it’s presence.

Little Mike/Big Mike 2020 is a terrifyingly real and devastating possibility.
