The sheriff would be wise to take the hint from Wade…

No doubt. Not everything is black and white but Socialism has some seriously bad history behind it and the people who propose it are long term bad news.

Wade certainly has a way with words and he cuts right to the point.

Speaking from experience (don’t ask!!), Sheriff Tucker is in for a hellava ride that he is likely to end up regretting…

Wait, that’s Zed in the second panel… Is it Wade talking about rattlers or Zed?

That’s Zed who rode in just now.

Hey, this is Texas! You don’t ride the bronco until it collapses on you. You ride it long enough to win and then you get off. Same goes for Skye.

Or, until it is tamed into a nice little filly. I would not try that with Sam.

    • March 14, 2015 at 10:05 am

Skye is a “vision” as the Sheriff remarked! I like your “bronco” analogy, Calvin! It’s often true, that there’s a good woman behind a good man, but the opposite is also true and the Sheriff could be a steadying influence on a woman such as Skye. BTW, in real life, that didn’t work out for me back when I was a young man, she threw me off for a fast life I was willing to help her get out of, but she didn’t want any part of it. That’s OK as a few years later, I met my wife and we’ve been together for almost 34 years, the love of my life!

      • March 14, 2015 at 6:24 pm

To this day, I do not understand why that “wild woman” that I so desired back in another day, wouldn’t accept my offer to get her out of that life, and partner up with me and walk the straight and narrow. She was a beauty from Vancouver, but was into the wild life so deep. I fell for her for a time before I realized that she would use me for everything I had. Unrequited love, one should learn from that and move on and that’s what I did.

Good lessons learned, and at a relatively inexpensive cost for you. Congratulations.

You go eight seconds and Skye will be PISSED.

“eight seconds” is the game where they’re SUPPOSED to get pissed. You mount them, you tell them “Your sister likes it this way, too”
…and hang on as long as you can before she bucks you off. Or gets you off.

Going back a page or so … “snow cows” nearly cost me a new keyboard.

Perhaps, as was suggested, they are the “family milch cows” and overly curious? [shrug]
I can forward a few photos of Brangus or Hereford or some of the other more common Texas beef cattle IF you’re interested at all Chris? And yes there are some folks who still specialize in the clean bloodline “Texas Longhorns”.

Skye … sigh I hold out the hope that all statist Socialists can be enlightened and “salvaged” from the Edudoctrination system BUT this girl is a serious piece o’work.
I say let the Sheriff take a shot at it (her) [rolls eyes]

I once had a ten day relationship with an incredibly gorgeous gal who was nuttier than two homemade fruitcakes. I sent her home to her family on the train my treat.
It was nice for about eight days … ahem … ‘Nuff said ….

Skye has changed since the panel that you can see by clicking the “First” button.

There are some dangers you should warn anyone about, and some you warn friends about, and some that you know the warning will do no good so you might as well get the bandages and alcohol ready.

Yep. Let the sheriff give Skye a ride. He might last the 8 seconds. Either way, both Skye and the sheriff will get an education about each other. Who knows how it will go from there? They’re both adults. All Zed and Wade can do is to give the sheriff fair warning.

I can see Skye wanting to jump in the bed right away. And the sheriff will want to go the old fashioned courtship route, no sex before marriage. Skye will be frustrated, of course. But does she like the sheriff enough to give this new way of relationship a long term try? Or does she just have the hot-to-trots?

Unlike spandex, female flesh after giving birth-especially under the conditions Hugo and Eva were delivered-takes a while to spring back.
I’d say if they were to attempt a ride, hang on, it might get bumpy.

Knowing that those Owens boys are all crack shots may … Just Maybe have had something to do with his choice of ladies to talk about. [shrug]
Then Again …. He is aware that there was only ONE that he could ask about at any level being a properly brought up country boy from south Texas. However that doesn’t mean that he was blind to their charms.

Oh and that bit about Texas rattlers not shaking their rattles …. is true. The Javelinas and wild hogs have silenced themselves for their own survival.

Some “rides” aren’t worth “the price of admission.” Especially when that “price” is not all up front….

      Cliff H

I’ve seen the pictures – Skye’s got plenty “up front”.

  • March 14, 2015 at 1:12 pm

Thinking back, Skye’s pattern has been to just fall into casual sex-romp relationships, which is why she hooked up w/ Bad Karl (before he saw the Light,) and then caught the kiddies.
Maternal instinct, as much as her inner Marxist will knock it, may have got her thinking about nest-building. A mom who loves her kids would long for that solid masculine sense of security. That, and the logic-hammers from everyone else on the ranch, could crack that granite Statist outlook of her’s?
Reality is like water and wind, over time it will wear away the hardest stone.

Yep, Skye has progressed, some are harder to break than others.

Chris, about 30 years back in the day when I still had some creativity and fire in the belly, I wanted to do a 2-3 panel ‘toon called Silhouettes, different characters and different subjects every day, blacked out against a background like your first panel here…still have a few samples filed away somewhere.

Anyway they weren’t bad, but certainly not to the level of artistic and editorial talent that you display here, and now lacking the ambition and ability to bring it to fruition, I’d love it if you’d take the name and the premise for a new strip…there’s a lot that can be said with the anonymity of man-on-the-street one-hit silhouettes, and you’re just the many to say it…and would be very simplified in the production aspect, and no story arc to consider.

Too much already on your plate? I understand, no problem and you probably have other toons in the wings already. Stll, it’s yours if you want it.

    • March 14, 2015 at 3:59 pm

I got a full plate, but I highly recommend you start it.I started DBD when I was in my late 30’s.:)

Well, at 60 now and with the whole lacking the ambition and ability thing, probably not…but thanks for the encouragement. It is a strong premise though and you are welcome to copyright the name and outline for future use if you want, even if just to sub it out at a later time.

And thanks for DBD, BTW…there truly is nothing else like it.

Yep, go back and look at your first strips……… Believe it or not, there are times I prefer the “rough” look of the early days.
