There’s FOUR boxes. Soap, ballot, JURY, and cartridge.
clap em in irons, and let the people speak. The boxes go in order.

It’s sometimes too easy to help people drop their false fronts. The 2nd choice is the correct one.

I know what Don Corleon said but I prefer to keep my enemies beyond 7 yards. The closer they are the easier it would be for to slip a knife in my back. Keeping them beyond 7 yards means I am outside the killzone of any knives they may have.. If they pull a gun they damned well better use it because if I see a gun I will not hesitate to use it.

All sides but Conservative are claiming victory so it is most likely more of the same old crap with maybe a few token wins for Trump. But this is not a normal budget battle and we need to go back to having a budget. Not that they ever followed the budget with any type of strictness but a guideline would be nice.

If Trump is true to form he laid the foundation for future budget negotiations with his public and private comments on this round. One thing he has made very clear to those paying attention is that he never pulls any options off the table without some type of capitulation. That alone puts him ahead of everyone in DC for at least 25 years

I think the money in the budget allocated to repairs to the existing border fence could be used to prep the expansion of the overall construction project and still fall under repairs since you can’t just add on with proper preparation.

A precious picture, but probably not a cameo which is typically an image very skillfully carved from shell or agate in raised relief or intaglio (recessed image), usually a feminine figure but rarely of a specific person.

Created miniature portrait paintings are sometimes called cameo, but that style was used way before Clara’s time. She would have been a war-time baby and if the picture was of her in her teens or early 20’s would have been taken in the early 60’s, based on my assumption of Zed being about 50. The trend then as most here will remember, was having professional studio photographs done to preserve our moments in time for family and posterity…outfits like Olin Mills made a good living from that, and that is most likely the kind of photograph that Sam is holding.

Those studio outfits are gone now, and something to ponder is that in this day of digital everything we mostly just carry our loved ones pictures around in our phones, etc., often never having actual prints made. That’s one more way we’ll be cheating our grandchildren of their history and heritage.

Sorry if some think of this correction as pedantry, but fine estate jewelry has been a big part of my business for forty years, and cameos are a soft spot for me; as brooches and pendants they are slow sellers and *many* of these works of art and old-world craftsmanship are pulled out of their gold frames, themselves often artistically crafted, which are then melted, with the carvings often tossed out. I’ve been guilty of that too, when the gold would bring a few hundred dollars and the piece won’t retail for that much, you do what you have to in business. But my son and I have dozens of the most beautiful and unusual ones; they look great on pads and easels in the showcase even if they are rarely bought for what they should be worth.

But none of that, the artwork, the history, or the dollar value, can compare to a treasured picture of your sweet and sainted Mother. Or hell, even if she is/was a sourpuss and far from a saint, she’s the only Mama you’ll ever have.

      • May 4, 2017 at 9:57 am

Yup, it is used that way sometimes, notably Hitchcock, remember that? Here’s the etymology of that from Wiki:

“Originally “cameo role” meant “a small character part that stands out from the other minor parts”. The Oxford English Dictionary connects this with the meaning “a short literary sketch or portrait”, which is based on the literal meaning of “cameo”, a miniature carving on a gemstone.[“

I never did want trump in the White House, figuring he was nothing more than a stalking horse for the dems.
I am STILL undecided about his loyalties, but only for two reasons:
    1. the so-called “leadership” in the House and Senate – puling ryan and m(b)itch mcconnell – there’s not a testicle to be found among the lot of ’em;
    and
    2. it is VERY unlikely that any new President is going to have as much effect as he might want during his first few months in office.
…too much shit is already in the political pipeline from his predecessor, and there’s too many of the bureaucratic ticks still hiding in the D.C. hound’s fur.
So I’m willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt this year, but if he keeps it up, there’ll be a reckoning.
…hopefully at the ballot box and not in the streets.

I think (hope?) that Touchstone has it right. Trump is not going to be the hellfire and brimstone breathing Arch-Conservative we would have liked, but the man has only been in office a bit over 3 months. I am pleased by the fact that he got Gorsuch on SCOTUS- if he does nothing else that alone is worthwhile. He has also got people discussing the border/ immigration issues in a way that is making increased control an allowable position. If he follows through on prosecuting sanctuarists that will go some ways toward correcting the current total disrespect for law. And best of all, Hillary will never be POTUS!!!!

As I will point out, the proper defense of our nation and borders by applying and extending immigration law is who brung DJT to the dance.
There was only one major difference between DJT and every other candidate for president in the last go around.
However he came to it, DJT used the exact logic, reasoning and Supreme court law of the land during the first Republican Presidential Primary Debate. It is contained in Wong vs USA (1898) US SCt. It debunks that there is a right in law to birthright citizenship to the children of illegally present people born here. The decision has never been made. There is more. The point he never used, but that I used in a LA Times and elsewhere comments section prior to that is that the US Supreme Court discussed citizenship in that decision. One important point they made is that throughout the world, invaders, their entourages, and the children born in the invaded land never become citizens of the invaded land. I pointed out that the statements of the Presidents of Mexico and other nations and their officials have instructed and assisted their people to invade the USA to plunder it and to conquer it. Recent rhetoric backs that up. History shows that is what they have done. The invasion has been by an asymmetric army come to conquer. That is similar to the Muslim hijrah jihad to conquer. La Reconquista, LA MECHA, La Raza, Rep Gutierrez and supporters, and others all advocate that. Look at the DNC leaders also.
Dr Michael Savage says Border, Language, Culture. President Trump said to Dr Savage at Mar-A-Lago recently that Dr Savage is why he was elected.
I find that almost all Hispanics legally here support controlling illegally present people. Recent polls say that close to 50% of Americans of Latin origin support President Trump. There is much more.
It shows that the people who brung Mr. President are those want the laws applied and probably extended. And they still want to dance. This still after a major group has removed their endorsement of President Trump.
      http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-05-02/immigration-group-dumps-trump-endorsement-we-have-been-lied-misled-and-betrayed
Those who have damaged and destroyed many Americans lives by the violation of law have no cause to complain if they suffer damage by the enforcement of laws broken so that they could be in the USA.
We must encourage our President to do what is right for Americans, first.
The immigration / invasion issue was the one difference between candidate Trump and every other Republican. It took his support in the primaries from around 5% to over 45% quickly. Candidate Trump then did what it took to win the nomination.
We brung him. We still want to dance with him at the biggest dance of the nation.

      • May 4, 2017 at 4:26 pm

We the deplorables organized this dance and sent the invitations. We can disinvite the participants too. But first we have to find out if this white boy really can or can’t dance; I’m mostly liking his moves so far.

Note taht he has not made proclamations about the protests in the streets. If he ignores them then the MSM can’t blow them out of proportion like during O’zeros reign.

This summer expect to see the escalation of antifa shenanigans but the grind of protesting will be in the liberal strongholds. Let them eat themselves and show who they truly. Note that the lack of the Fed DOJ jumping on people who resist these antifa idiots but actually applying the law to the law breakers will quietly snuff this out. It will collapse to leave only the organizers and behind the scene puppet masters standing.
