      She’s also constantly putting both feet in her mouth. And she didn’t seem all that put out ending up as her Mom and stepfather’s maid.

      It all adds up to her being either submissive, having nonexistent self-esteem no matter how arrogant she acts, or both.

        From my observations of liberals/progressives/socialists/-insert-latest-“cool”-label-here in the wild, that’s kind of a given. They all are looking for an “other” to take care of them. They either don’t trust their own faculties to manage affairs for themselves, or they idolize a more potent external force they believe could do a better job. They also react favorably to shows of force from a dominant “other” and praise their efficiency (Che/Mao iconography / speaking wistfully of dictators).

        Worse, like so many people, they can’t conceive of anyone thinking differently from themselves. Therefore, anyone opposing government expansion or centralization of power is deliberately trying to get between them and the thing/person they are organizing their life around. The result is bewildered confusion followed by incoherent rage.

        Now, many people look at that and think “Islam has a much more sensible approach”. But that’s not how it works out. In this world, it’s far too easy to misperceive a “slight”as something else; to “not have all the information”. “Attacks” can easily turn out to be nothing of the sort. “Unless you are attacked first” results in “unless you can construct a Rationale for why it’s reasonable to hate them”.

        Unless you start from an absolute – Thou Shalt Not – there is no restriction on behavior. The absolute means that you can’t just “think up a reason” to hurt someone, one must make a break with core principles in order to carry it out. With the way our brains work, that is the only bar that keeps modern civilization from ravaging itself individually, and obliterating neighbors collectively. (See also: the Mongol’s ‘pyramids of skills’ or Roman punitive ‘Decimation’.)

        This is why the Middle Eastern Nations go on and on about “the crusades” or “the loss of Iberia” or “that time the tribe over the hill insulted great-great-grand-aunt Ishah”. They’re not keeping a list of grudges, they’re keeping a catalogue of why there is no restriction whatsoever on their behavior impulses.

        Indeed, rather than being “kin” to “the peoples of the book”, Islam is a litany of total moral inversion from them: assault, theft, slavery, pedophilia, murder – all are given their leave in Islam.

        Political Correctness has excised a word from the English language. Since we are no longer allowed to use it because it is labeled ‘ethnocentric’ or ‘racist’ in all uses, we cannot employ it to correctly identify our attackers. That word is “savages”. It has nothing to do with a particular race or ‘skin color’, it defines a behavior where the principle reaction to adversity is violence.

        The cultures of the Middle East are savage, and should be labeled as such.

        Socialism gets there through control of society and redefinition of terms, but the end result is the same.

    Jan is not a dream sequence, and I am hoping that Sam finally recognizes that her sister is so utterly degenerate that blood no longer counts. She needs to be literally slapped down and then kicked out.

    The evil that exists in “progressives” who believe their desires trump everyone else’s cannot be overstated.

    And, at this point, DHS means it doesn’t matter who destroys your property – and possibly your loved ones. ATF opened the dance at Waco, but it was FBI who burned women and children to death.     Story arcs like this are the reason this strip is the first thing I turn to in the morning. As much as it’s been one kick in the teeth after another, it’s also some of your best work – and that’s saying something!

    Anybody who thought I was calling this piece (heh) porn has never read my comments on the artful commentary of our host. There’s a bigass (heh again) difference between peddling porn that, far from celebrating beauty, desire and human instinct, uses those elements to defile and degrade the beauty of them, as opposed to depicting it to make one hell of a powerful statement and metaphor.

    The “girl with a gun” link that I posted upthread is a perfect example of the former, while the evil that Chris makes us “feel” in Skye, that speaks volumes about her opinion of herself, others, and the world…and in the process embodies and exposes so much of what is wrong with the “progressive” world, is an example of the latter as good as anything I’ve ever seen.
